SOX @ Twinkies Danks (12-8 3.19) vs. Baker (10-9 4.76)
BigSqwert replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) This is beyond frustrating. Where is that Impeach Kotsay group? I'm ready. You're in. Expect your campaign materials to arrive in three to four business days. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Gone baby, gone. Give me a manager who gives a damn about tactics and lineups. You're not impressed with his decision to bat a guy hitting .187 with RISP during a pennant race?

Theories? Why do the White Sox fade in Aug/Sept. every year?

They don't call him kitekrazy for nothing! -

Just a reminder folks, Ozzie Guillen has chosen to have this guy hit for our pitcher today, in a pennant race: RISP .187/.310/.677 -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) I agreed with the poster who said keep Ozzie as long as he wants to manage, so yeah that's a lifetime contract. I guess there could be a point I'd want him fired. If he started acting like a raving lunatic every night or something. He could freak out like Zambrano or something or say something so over the top they'd have to fire him, but if he behaves himself I see no problem with a lifetime contract. So hypothetically you'd be fine with being a perennial cellar dweller, averaging 16K fans each game, and not having the income to sign top free agents as long as Ozzie gets to stick around?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) My sentiments exactly. He should have pretty much a lifetime contract to manage the White Sox. He's as good or better than anybody else you'll bring in. Lifelong? Wow. If they came in last place the next 4 years you'd be perfectly fine with that?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I wish somebody could go through all the threads last year saying how people were sick of Thome. I can't believe suddenly big Jim is so popular around this board when people were glad to see him go. Why is this so difficult for you to understand. Many of us were OK with going a different route but we replaced him with DFA worthy fodder. -
"What did you guys say?"
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Really? I hadn't heard that anywhere. Indeed. It actually seems like a very well hidden secret since this is the first I've heard of it.

Oh and Happy Birthday Nuke wherever you are.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) I've never made that argument here. I just don't believe you would find the US government so trustworthy and competent had you not been born and raised here. I don't think many of us here think the US government is competent.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Since the invent of the atomic weapon, how many countries possessing nuclear weapons have been invaded after possessing the weapon? Im pretty sure the answer is 0. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Guys, please stop with the bad analogies. That's where I was headed with my 'protection' analogy.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) Let me ask you the counter-argument then...why would I feel safer as a smaller country if my country were to attempt to possess the bomb on its own? The same reason people feel they need to own a gun. For protection! *ducks*

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Ditka should have won more with that group. With maybe the exception of the 2006 team, so far the Sox teams after 2005 were not good enough to win the World Series and this year's team definitely isn't. Managers and coaches often get blamed for a team's lack of talent. People get snake oiled that this is the exact team Ozzie wanted because he didn't want certain players. The manager isn't the one writing the checks or negotiating deals. The 2006 team was more talented than the 2005 team. We definitely should have won our division that year.

QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) I dont give a s*** what happens anymore. They are so much better when I feel that way. I am becoming more and more baseball superstitious by the day. A regular Johnny Dickshot. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I've liked it but I FWD thru the Sookie/Bill melodrama most of the time. I actually don't mind that stuff too much. Call me a wuss. And more Jessica please!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Because it's OUR interests. Why wouldn't OUR interests be more important than others? One could state "who the f*** are you?"
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) And I will start believing that convenient nonsense as soon as we no longer have 4,000 of them laying around. Obama signed something that states we will slowly eliminate our stockpile. Maybe when I'm 90 we'll have 3,950 of them.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) That is probably the fastest growing demographic buying hip hip recordings over the past few years. I have been a hip hop fan since about 1982. It's funny to see rappers these days fighting with hipster or skater rappers. Was listening to the new Rhymefest album the other day and he just goes off on the hipster rappers. It just seems odd. Those guys are bringing a lot more interest into hip hop which has gotten quite stale over the past few years and now other rappers have beef with that. I really don't get it. And these hipster/skater rappers or whatever you call them are sort of like the backpacker rappers from the late 80s and 90s. Groups like Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, etc. I couldn't imagine people like Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Snoop Dog and the like completely diss an entire sub-genre like that because they weren't as tough or gangster as they were. I dunno. Maybe it's just a way to get more attention.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Because "our" interests are for the protection of most of the world, in this case. From our point of view. There are many others out there that think we are trying to take over the world and take over its natural resources.

True Blood has been awesome this year. Sure the acting isn't great and some of the side stories are dumb but what an addicting adventure it's been.

Call me a bad baseball fan or a bad person but I want to see all of the Twins break their f***ing legs whenever we play them. Damn I hate those f***ers. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) So if this was a nation that, in our opinion, was not bats*** crazy, we would be fine with them acquiring the bomb? I'm starting to think you might be a peace loving hippie like me.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) We should place our own team on a pedestal for a change I think an appointment with Stuart Smalley is in order.
