QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Ugh, I hate Ozzieball! I must be dreaming. Is this 1951 before the DH was invented?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) I hate using the offday as a 5th starter. Absolutley hate it. Every single pitcher in our rotation (Other than Jackson who just arrived) has an ERA a full run lower on extra rest than they do on normal rest. Cost benefit analysis...burn your pen every time Freddy pitches and still get a loss or take your chances skipping him and affecting the ERA of the other 4.
-
Freddy leaves and adds to his ERA over 7 for the 2nd half of the season. They need to consider skipping him when they can when we have days off.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) Plain and simple, the Sox need to f***ing man up FOR ONCE in Minnesota. The division is ours for the taking. I don't know about that. They have an easier schedule than we do.
-
GIDP for the A's to end their threat. Still a no hitter but Slowass has well over 100 pitches.
-
A's threatening...sort of.
-
Goddamn you Ozzie and your inexplicable man love for Kotsay.
-
This is why some if us were slightly excited about Teahen coming back. But of course Kotsay still getting plenty of ABs.
-
What the heck do we do about Freddy? He's been awful since the break.
-
QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Is it some rule that the Sox have to be terrible in August and September? Apparently. It happens every season and no one is held accountable.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Yep, he's hitting the corners on every pitch he throws. Pretty damn impressive Impossible. I've been told numerous times that the Twins do not have a good pitching staff.
-
Luckily I didn't get to see last night's gut wrenching game but the stat line for Jackson looks good once again. I am excited to see him out there every 5 games. He's giving us a chance to win each time out. And the 11 Ks...wow!
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) I think you've got to be more patient than that with him. He's given us a lot of quality starts this year. If you yank him now, there is no turning back. Unless you're seeing an option that presents a significant opportunity for improvement, I think it would be a mistake to pull the plug at this point. Granted, he can't be getting blown up in the second inning 2 out of every 5 starts, but he does have 3 quality starts among the 5 you're referencing. That is pretty much what you hope for out of your 5th starter... I guarantee if he bombs today Kenny and his staff will be scrambling to figure out a way to replace him. With the way Minnesota has now put together a solid 1-5 we can't afford to to battle for these last 6 weeks with a man short.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) IP? In how many starts? Who will replace him? Well the IP number isn't going to be very high when you have to repeatedly get yanked in the 2nd or 3rd inning but it was for 5 games. And I was saying that I think they have to go another route if he tanks again today. Who do you go with? I dunno. Another #5 guy on waivers? We can't keep blowing out our pen when he starts.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Why? Since the ASB: K/BB ratio: 1.11 BA: .374 OBP: .427 OBPS: 1.074 ERA: 7.25 WHIP: 2.06

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) This season boils down to one decision: Kotsay for 1 yr / 1.5M Or Thome for 1 yr /1.5M Not to mention he has filled in for Morneau for the last 6 weeks. That my friends will most likely be what does us in... I repeat....the DH is not what will decide our fate this year. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:09 AM) We WILL win tomorrow. I sure hope so. And if Freddy gets shellacked again I think it'll be his last start for us this year.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) I refuse to believe any kind of success could be directly attributed to Buck Showalter, of all people. I don't know what it is but all of a sudden they're defeating some of the best teams in the league.

This new manager thing is really working out for Baltimore. Up against the Rays once again. It's too bad that they didn't wait until after our series to make that move.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Amazing what removing Kotsay can do. Too early to consider him impeached? -
Happy birthday!
