  1. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Yes, I was generalizing my comments in reference to ignoring doctors' (pl) orders. And yes, I understand the value of second opinions, multiple viewpoints, and the ultimate responsibility of the patient to make informed decisions regarding their care and treatment. But the message I anticipate coming from the Tebow story focused through a Focus on Family prism is that NO medical opinion matters (be it one doctor or a consensus of hundreds) if that opinion proffers abortion as the safest course of action. That is a dangerous and irresponsible message. I'm sure they'll be able to explain all of your options and what is best for you in 30 seconds.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) To me, a serious issue like this would always be more important than a football game. Who's even arguing which is more important? Of course it's more important than a football game.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I think it is funny how often the ignorance of America comes up, but screw that the Super Bowl is on! It pretty much is indicative of our national priorities. I just can't fathom why anyone would think that this is the best time to bring up and discuss abortion issues. There's a time and place for it and the Super Bowl isn't part of that equation.
  4. I also hope it serves as an adequate cutting board for the kitchen.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) lol. Don't ruin the football game for a debate like abortion... Exactly. Not sure why you think that's funny.
  6. You're right Tex. This is a wonderful opportunity for family members and friends to start talking about this issue. Who cares if households across the country get into major arguments. Sure it's a topic that can ignite very heated debates as evidenced in this thread but I couldn't think of a better opportunity to alienate yourself than at a Super Bowl party.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) If you don't like a thread, don't post in it!!!! This kind of crap brings down the quality of this site IMO. Have your sewing circle spat on the side.
  8. How is this thread not deleted yet? Pale Hose Talk?
  9. And a little disappointed in the lack of Chuck in his name.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) i've heard the Ultimate Cut is the way to go. It has Tales of the Black Freighter along with book-ending scenes at the newstand inserted into the movie itself. How many of these damn things do I need to buy? I thought those blu ray can hold a s***load of media? Why not put all versions on one blu ray?

Watched the unrated version of The Hangover on blu ray last night. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and the theatrical release. Still a great comedy.
  12. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) NO Thome No Jim Thome this year... http://twitter.com/SoxNet Thank you Pony Express.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Earlier it was mentioned that someone would carry a baby and risk their own health, perhaps dying. And I will not judge a family that accepts a special needs child into their lives. It is about the most terribly stressful thing I can imagine. I see many kids down the hallway from me who some people here would probably think should have been aborted. I just can not make that judgement for someone else and I don't think it is appropriate for someone else to make it for them. Unless they are the Tebow family on Super Bowl Sunday.
  14. I think you're mixing things up here. Jumping into a lake to save a drowning baby is one thing. Having a doctor show you an ultrasound with alarming abnormalities is something entirely different.
  15. How will Focus on the Family feel if major birth defects increase in 2010 because of Mrs Tebow's example of ignoring medical opinions?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) How about because I know someone personally who did exactly what is being referenced there? So are you saying a message from Tim Tebow during the Super Bowl might have been helpful to your friend?
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) And that's BS, too. Blame everyone, everything, the last 8 years, blah blah blah the entire f***ing speech and then the last sentance say "I take responsibility" and that's all the coverage we get. How nice. So you'd rather that all the headlines didn't read "Obama admits he failed"?
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) In fact I do. I think a lot of young women think of it as a simple procedure, and only later reflect on the decision they made. Studies have shown that women who have abortions succomb to depression and anxiety after the fact, sometimes long after the fact. Adding yet another reminder that it's a serious choice isn't a horrible thing IMO. Well luckily all of these women now have Tim Tebow to look up to. I'm sure any woman who's been advised that the baby in their womb is at great risk of defect or possibly even death will ignore their doctor and listen to a football player.
  19. You're also ignoring the fact that the founder of this organization preaches hate with his anti-gay comments.
  20. What's the big deal? We started a flag football game on the Pentagon lawn after it was attacked. My uncle donated to relief efforts so it was ok.
