  1. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) I love the guy, but no way. We need to get away from the big boppers; we've got enough power. Especially one who can't field, can't run, can't do anything but crank home runs. We do?
  2. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) I am turning over a new leaf and I am going to stop being such a dog starting today. amen. Is today April 1st?
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) Yeah, I didn't think he'd be as good this year, but still thought he'd be worthy of a 1st round pick. I didn't see the Panthers offense being just this bad. Question for you: would you trade him for, say, 2 guys who have each produced similarly as Williams? Or will you keep him no matter what since he was your 1st pick? I ask b/c the guy who has him in my league has a pretty bad team (he's about to go to 1-4), and has some holes to fill. And I really just need another RB to complete my team, but have some good extra WRs. I'm stuck in the same predicament. Part of me hopes he blows up later in the year like he did last year but it's obvious their offense will struggle most of the year. Just seems like his trade value isn't very high and I doubt you could get much in return.

  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 05:26 AM) i'm going to pull a dennis green here ....i know it was preseason (but who treats the 3rd preseason game like its bulls***? bulls***!?!) but the bears handled the broncos on the road in the 3rd game, and destroyed the giants in the somewhat less important second game....i know preseason is preseason, but given the fact that those teams are a combined 10-0, and it was in the 2 most important preseason games, and that the 1st team crushed their first teams....i at least think its noteworthy GMAB
  8. Biggest disappointment in the film was the free pass on Obama. Sure he went after Dodd and others in Congress but Obama deserves his fair share.

  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) You aren't financially invested in your neighbors life. Sure I am. If my neighbor takes poor care of his house and lot it brings down the value of my home.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 08:09 AM) Even if its just a cashier, the employer still has a a financial interest in the employee. You don't in your neighbor. Just another example that capitalism is a morally bankrupt concept.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 07:22 AM) I don't care of they get financial gain from it, that part is fine with me. The only thing that bothers me is that the subject of the insurance should get to know, and approve, of it. If that doesn't happen, THAT is when it bad. I'm not ok with it. Why can't I get a policy on my neighbor, hoping that he dies? What gives these corporations a right to do this?
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) Yeah, they're just investing a company asset. It costs them money if they lose a senior employee with decades of experience. Saw the movie yesterday. They were providing examples of companies taking out policies on non-management employees. The one example was a cake decorator at a Walmart store. Executive management is one thing but when you're trying to make money on people like that I think something is wrong with the system. And to make matters worse these are called Dead Pheasant policies.

  18. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 01:03 AM) Thanks! What's a jib? Origin The jib of a sailing ship is a triangular sail set between the foretopmast head and the jib boom. Some ships had more than one jib sail. Each country had its own style of sail and so the nationality of a sailing ship, and a sailor's consequent opinion of it, could be determined from the jib. The phrase became used in an idiomatic way during the 19th century. Sir Walter Scott used to it in St. Ronan's Well, 1824: "If she disliked what the sailor calls the cut of their jib." There may be an allusion between the triangular shape of noses and jibs in the figurative use of this phrase, but this isn't authenticated.
