  1. Tigers winning in the 5th. Lets face it, they're playing decent baseball and I don't see them all of a sudden losing at an alarming rate.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) Look at it this way if we go 10-0 and Detroit 5-5 we'd still be three back in the loss column. Get real. So you're saying there's a chance.
  3. Effectively the Chicago World Series this afternoon.

Yeah what a disappointment that was. It was so bad that the wife and I couldn't remember if we had actually seen it. Shows you how memorable it was to us.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Eh, I feel the exact opposite. I see too many kids today who don't know anything or give a crap about the world around them. The talking points be damned, but kids need to understand current events to get a perspective on the history they are learning. Doing that is a natural segue into politics. See my last post. She's being brain washed. She shows no interest in politics.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Well, if my kid wants to do that, so be it. I'll happily engage them in debate, even at a young age. But young is young, they haven't necessarily learned yet where they will actually stand on things. Rush is just a windbag anyway, regardless of what side of the argument he's on, so I'm sure your daughter will figure that out eventually. It's quite obvious she isn't trying to learn these things on her own. She shows absolutely know interest in anything political when she's with me. I'm sure it's her mother feeding here the standard talking points.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) I just refuse to use my child as a tool for whatever political views I might have. Its akin to when you see parents at Little League games yelling and screaming like buffoons, clearly trying to live out their own competitive dreams through their kids. Makes me ill. I hear you. It's so disheartening to have my daughter come up from Texas and parrot Rush Limbaugh talking points. I'm astounded that her mother would be so petty and immature to brain wash a pre-teen like that. I don't remember giving a rats ass about politics when I was 12 and 13.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Well, that might upset me a little more since he was not talking about education, but about guns, which seems inappropriate for a childhood audience to me. Even then though, I still wouldn't pull my kid out of class, I'd just try to explain to my kid ahead of time what was going on. How dare you be so level-headed.
  9. That's definitely the God I learned about growing up.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) Ridiculous. I wouldn't do that for Bush, or Obama, or any other President. Its basically taking your own pettiness and projecting it through you child. I saw someone on Facebook vote in a "poll" asking whether or not schools should get parental permission first before they kids have to watch this speech. Seriously now, are we getting this petty? Do people really feel the need to teach their kids that some President, ANY President, "isn't their President"? I sent him this link today and told him to take his kids there instead of going to school that day. http://creationmuseum.org/
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) Pastor calls for President's Death edit: that article kinda sucks. Here's another one from Fox about it: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/31...test=latestnews Someone please explain to me again why churches are tax exempt.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) kills me every time i visit Chicago and walk down the concourse at the cell and think, huh, if they would've just turned the field 45 degrees, look what you would see... I mean, people get paid a lot of money to make these decisions. How can they get them so wrong? Mind boggling
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) Damn, Target Field in Minny is beautiful... Target Pics Views of the city skyline from the field. What a novel idea.
  14. QUOTE (SockMe @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) I was at the game that Torres started against the Indians in August and was impressed, hope he keeps it going. Doesn't take much to impress you. Didn't he walk about 8 guys in 3 innings?
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) This isn't going to happen unless there is an emergency situation this year. You have got to imagine they want to give Carlos a spring training at least in RF since he hasn't played out there for two years now at least. If you can throw Makowiak out in CF where he doesn't belong then you can put Q in RF. We are over-exaggerating the transition from LF to RF.
  16. Ozzie continues to amaze. Rios is our future. Why is Wise getting any more starts?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) He's been amazing in everything I've ever seen him in. I honestly think he's the best actor of my time (or at least he's one of them). Hard to disagree with that. I'm struggling to think of anyone who I'd rank above him.

Watched Gangs of New York on IFC last night. I think I enjoyed it more the 2nd time around. Daniel Day Lewis was amazing.
  19. Co-worker yesterday mentioned that he called his kid's school principle to make sure his kids are pulled from class during Obama's education speech to students across America. *shakes head*
  20. Webelos video or is it on all scouts?
  21. Am I the only one that hopes we don't get it?
  22. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) ...What? I thought this was a discussion of current pitchers in the league who were once in the Sox organization.
