Georgia in play? Obama, 48 percent McCain, 47 percent Other, 2 percent Undecided, 3 percent -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 10:16 AM) I get it now. I see you're just as slow as I am in picking up the humor.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Different candidates, different deal. Obama's main alternative in the primaries was a woman, who might experiences many of the same biases that Obama does. Not the case here. I would think race is a bigger issue then sex. How many people do you run across in your lifetime that despise women?

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) Margin of error does not always factor in all possible biases. The bias that TexSox is talking about is called Social Desirability. You'd be surprised what people "lie" about even in confidential surveys. I do research on businesses, particularly internationalization. People will lie on confidential surveys (not tied to their name or company) about their international experience, sales numbers, or any number of things that do not really matter that much. If people will "lie" about those issues, it is perfectly reasonable that there is a social desirability bias in the polls based on a much stronger issue. There really wasn't much evidence of this going in the primaries so I'm not sure it will happen on the 4th.

$22,800 for two weeks of makeup and $150,000 in clothing. And she likes to point out elitists. I think there was an entire thread by the conservatives on our site regarding Edwards' $400 haircut. -

Good to see the McCain campaign spending their money wisely. -
The reason I cite an example like that is because that's how my parents are. My mom secretly told me she's voting Obama but would never let my father know. He'd be furious.
-
There could easily be a number of people in lifelong Republican families lying to pollsters saying that they're voting McCain because their spouse is in the room during the call. They can just as easily vote Obama when in the privacy of the voting booth without their die-hard Republican spouse ever knowing.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) Looks like Mccain has meet with a dictator without pre-conditions. entire article What do you expect from the king of hypocrisy?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 08:10 AM) Not fear at all. It's the same phenomenon that had people telling surveys they are watching Masterpiece Theater when they are watching Dukes of Hazard. Imagine polling people on their masturbation habits. In the words of House, "people lie". In this case, perhaps not out of fear but out of wanting the pollster's approval. So after hundreds, if not thousands, of polls over the past few months you're saying that time and time again people keep lying. And enough of them keep doing so that it's actually McCain who's leading in most of these polls? I find that a little hard to believe.

McCain is already behind the eight ball as early voting results have been much more favorable for Obama. I'm reading everywhere that Dem turnout has been very strong so far.

The new numbers from SurveyUSA: Democratic candidate El Tinklenberg 47%, Bachmann 44%, and Independence Party candidate Bob Anderson 6%, with a ±4% margin of error.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) sports riots seemed to have faded out in the 00's. When Denver had one I think we all knew it was over. Just wait till the Fire bring home a championship. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) I just got my first political poll phone call ever. 2 minutes. very local focus. It was basically age, liberal / moderate / conservative, party identification, likelihood of voting, Obama or McCain, Paul Froelich or Anita Anita Forte-Scott I hope you're not part of that Bradley Effect. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) Speaking of the Obama rally, McCain isnt even going to his: That sounds a bit pessimistic if you ask me. They want the green lawn to serve as a nice backdrop. He films quite nicely with green backgrounds.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) Morris Chestnut (he was a nobody back then). Cuba Gooding was the main character. Ok. Now it's coming back to me. I remember really enjoying the movie when it came out. Forgot if I got emotional.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Chicago GOP to "Counter Program" the Obama rally: Really? Are they actively trying to start a riot? Why not hold it out here in Schaumburg? Across the street? Who cares. They'll be outnumbered 10,000 to 1.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) I must be the only one on this board that's ever seen this movie. It's been so long now that I forgot what happened in that movie. Who played Ricky? Cuba Gooding?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) IBD/ TIPP has the race at Obama +1.1. Don't worry, Obama supporters. Something is very, very wrong with their model. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/10/wha...e.html#comments Heh. I read that earlier. You can definitely throw that poll out the window.
