  1. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) I want to punch Lawrence Holmes in the face. Yesterday, when the Sox were sitting 0.5 up in the division, he was all doom and gloom, and proclaiming the twins were going to win this thing Right now, "If the sox win tonight, this series didn't happen, and actually the Sox gained." What a douchebag, SERIOUSLY. WORST.CHICAGO.RADIO.PERSONALITY
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) Just a heads up, in the last month, griffey has a .927 OPS, with 5 HR, 17 RBI, 6 doubles, and 1/1 K/BB ratio. He's heating up. Now that I like to see.
  3. As Kalapse mentioned earlier I envision a rejuvenated Griffey having a strong finish to the season now that he's on a contender.
  4. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) ESPN reporting the Griffey camp has no idea why the white sox want him and concerned about where he would play. Wow. He has his own camp.
  5. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) I'd rather see Griffey to go right, Swisher stay in center, and Dye play first. I've heard many posters talk about Dye playing first in the future, maybe this is the time now. Hmm. That's not a bad idea. I like it.
  6. They going to make us wait till 3pm on this?
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) The difference between .230 and .245 is a few singles. Hardly noticeable over the course of 4 months. I'd still rather have a few more singles from that slot since the odds of people on base are probably higher with CQ, Dye and Thome hitting in front. If that slot draws a walk who's going to knock him in? Toby Hall?
  8. QUOTE (SpringfieldFan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) Well, if all it takes to secure a spot on the roster and the love of the fans is to tell some jokes, play with blowup dolls, and be really sorry for not hitting - then dang, I could do that, and cheap!!! I will even take my own train up there to sign! SFF No kidding.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) By 30 f***ing points in OPS and 5 points in OPS+. WOW Jr hitting 15 points higher in average. I'd rather have my #6/7 hitter getting hits than walking.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) You mean the same Nick Swisher who has been roughly equal to Ken Griffey Jr. at the plate this season? Jr's offensive stats are better.
  11. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:15 AM) Well I also heard on ESPNews, that the Sox are working on a 3-4 team trade to get Huston Street. Everyone assumes Swisher is gone, but no no no. Why can't it be Orlando who they've been trying to unload? Also, I think this move is so Ozzie could give his guys more breaks like he did in '05. Right now, he doesn't believe he has the flexibility he used to have. From what I heard, KG will be playing 1B and DH as well as OF. First year we don't talk about it extensively, we finally get Ken Griffey Jr. I'll get his jersey as soon as it's possible. Why is everyone in love with Swisher? He has been awful. If anything OC has been playing much better than Swish this season.
  12. Even if the deal is for a couple of minor leaguers I'm confused to what his role will be on this team.
  13. I'm lame. I got all my guys amazon gift cards in addition to the ties they will be wearing at the wedding. The guys I have standing up are from all walks of life so it would be impossible to find something that they'd all enjoy.
  14. This sounds like making a deal for the sake of making one. This doesn't make us a better team.
  15. Hopefully he doesn't accept the trade. Didn't he nix it once already a few years back?
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Do you seriously think what Hawk says about a player during a game matters to anyone outside of himself? Just commented on him being part of the Sox PR team.
  17. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) White Sox PR hard at work. Wouldn't it be smarter to talk him up if we want him traded?
  18. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) Twins will get Liriano back, just as good as a trade. Paulie will catch fire and it will be like picking up a slugger. *puts down bottle of gin*
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Manny is a Marlin if wavies his NTC. Whoah
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) It kind of reminds me of big-name FA signings in the NFL, although that's to a lesser extent. Is the quote in your sig from "Stripes"? I can't recall but it seems so familiar.
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) It's extremely difficult to measure, but how often do major deadline deals pay off? I can't be more than 40% What do you mean by pay off? Winning it all?
  22. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Everyone is making a deal but the White Sox...I hate KW at times. I'm surprised you're not used to it by now. When has he ever made a big splash at the deadline?
