  1. I wanted to just add that something in not brewing with the Brew Crew the last couple of days. Carry on.
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) I guess I'm in the camp that biofuels aren't the answer - at least the way our government is going about it today. I think it's a great idea, yet, subsidizing corn, when it doesn't even work... I have a problem with that, for example. I think they're looking at other alternatives beyond corn. From the same interview:
  3. I'm also a big proponent of the environment. Here's an excerpt from an interview with J. Craig Venter (Independent geneticist J. Craig Venter raced an international consortium of scientists to map the human genome in the 1990s. Now he's putting the same cutting-edge science to work on today's energy crisis, engineering a whole new generation of biofuels.) LINK
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) And again, it's WHY are you supporting this candidate? Because he will help repair our image abroad, he is pro-choice, he thinks parents are responsible for the upbringing of children, he shared my judgment with regards to invading Iraq, he is for universal health care, he wants to invest in clean energies, he wants to reinstate PAYGO budgeting, he is more positive then most politicians in my era, etc. I can go on and on.
  5. I have a feeling it's safe to say nothing's brewing. I will be shocked if a deal goes down.
  6. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Yeah...I lied...the town sucks. We do have the best friggin' Mexican restaurants in the world though. The rest of the food is crap though. Which one should I go to next time I'm in town?
  7. I don't see why it's so hard to understand why so many people in our country and around the world are rooting for a likable black man to become the next president of the U.S., a country where politics has been dominated by white men for 200 years.
  8. And that's why I suggested a minimum IQ score to vote.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) Except think of it in this context how many people can't stand the Yankees, Cubs, Red Sox etc because of their fans? Way too many people vote for superficial reasons, so to think how their supporters act doesn't have an affect on how people look at a candidate is probably not accurate. Lame yes, true, no. Baseball isn't going to help secure our borders, provide health care, or fix our education system. I understand your analogy but it's a shame if that's an actual reason to vote or not vote for someone.
  10. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) If his greatest supporters can't find a reason to vote for him, how could I? Who exactly are Obama's greatest supporters and how do you know they have no reason to vote for him?
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) I can't believe so many people refuse to blame the players We've been blaming Paulie for a while now and you didn't like that either.
  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) Not at all. In fact all the negativity from a few Obama supporters has dropped the care factor to beyond zero. What was left of my hope for Obama has deteriorated into an active desire to see him lose. Imagine one of the most liberal posters here so turned off by Obama supporters I can't even feel a little happy if he wins. Sorry but I honestly can't think of a more lame reason not to vote for someone.
  13. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) I have been told that the Sox are trying to make a deal that would fit two needs... 2b and RP. By whom?
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) But I will throw this out there: It's much easier to grow pot than it is to make Beer. Therefore, wouldn't pot have a tenancy to maybe get overused? It's not like there's a shortage of alcohol in the United States. I don't see the relevance in making your own booze or growing your own pot. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) Also one joint is far more "effective" than one beer or one glass of win. People who get high from pot typically smoke enough to get high. You don't hear people bragging about how many joints they smoked last night.
  15. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) Based on the tighest primary race in my lifetime fueling voting late into the primary season, I stand by my statement. Negative ads would have been extint a few decades ago of they didn't work. Well if the McCain camp thinks they're a good idea in this election cycle then his campaign doesn't have a good pulse on the people right now.
  16. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Which is why negative ads work so great. Fear is a far bigger motivator then hope. Based on the record number of people who voted in the Dem primary I beg to differ.
  17. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) Really? I was just looking at his web site and there was plenty of information there. Unless your mind is already made up. You and I know that but the average American who doesn't pay much attention as we do will look at things like commercials and newspaper headlines. Most people don't spend several hours per week reading political blogs and what not.
  18. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) Swisher's OPS is not up to par for a 1B, but it significantly higher than Konerko's. Hell, Brian Anderson's OPS is higher than Konerko's. For someone that consistently bats 6th I'd rather have a higher batting average. The 6 slot in the lineup is pretty much your last batter in the heart of your lineup. I don't care if he might get a few more walks if we need to rely on the bottom of the order to knock him in. He's supposed to be the one knocking in runs.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Since we heard about that $300 haircut so often, I'm left wondering...if John Edwards were caught wearing $520 Italian shoes, how often would we have heard about it? And Obama is the elitist? *scratches head*
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/30/fra...uana/index.html Agree 100%. I give this about a 2% chance of becoming law, but one of these days reality will come in to play and voters will realize what a waste of money it is going after pot smokers. I love the idea of making it the same as alcohol - don't punish the use of it, punish the abuse of it.
  21. Sheesh. Cubs fans with short fuses lately. LINK
  22. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) So McCain is running negative ads. Tell me how that makes him a bad choice to be President? I don't know why he should be president. He's too busy complaining about his opponent to tell me why I should vote for him.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) He got totally f'd on his first walk. The 2-2 pitch was a strikeout (how that wasn't a strike is beyond me). No kidding. I was livid at that call. And to make it worse Swisher got a called strike the next inning that was 6" further off the plate.
