  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Who says you're being a troll? I just didn't want people to associate my responses to some of the less cordial things I might have posted in other 'buster topics. I tend to get a bit hot-headed at times...which could cause this snowman to melt --> (Could never figure out how I could use that icon until now)
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Alexei a rookie of the year candidate?
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) Ramirez, yes. Farmer trying to tell jokes while the play is going on... 1-0 nice job Juan Pierre's arm that's a a joke all to itself Heh. He is so awful IMO.
  4. When was the last time CQ homered? Seems like ages ago.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) If you have a team with any speed at all you could play around with the Sox.They have nothing to negate speed. 4 out of the 5 starters cannot even hold a runner.
  6. Extremely inconsistent hitting and poor defense does not seem to equate to championship baseball.
  7. Brink back Ron Karkovice.
  8. I'm not trying to be a troll or anything. Just have a strong anti-gun belief system. There's really nothing else I can add to that. I respect all of your opinions on the matter.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Does "Uber" mean "not"? heh. Thought the same thing.
  10. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) And the stellar D continues from yesterday. Banner start!!! What happened?
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) So if guns are made illegal how are you so sure that someone still can't get a hold of a gun and go on a shooting spree? Very stiff penalties for anyone caught carrying a gun? I dunno. I'm no expert on these matters. Just sharing my personal opinions.
  12. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) Carlos GIDP, 3 out, good guys to bat. huh?
  13. My 401K is getting hammered this year.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) None of them can. Your neighbor owning 50 guns isn't going to get you killed. Tell that to the neighbor of the VA Tech gunman.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) McDonalds could kill him. Indeed. Thank God I haven't been to one in years.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Abortion and the death penalty come to mind. Terrorism could also kill you. But the 2nd amendment empowers you as an individual to have the ability to easily kill people. The guy in the next cubicle could be completely sane and law-abiding. He can have a terrible week where his wife leaves him, he loses his job and decides to come to work and shoot up the office and kill me as he's doing it. The other things you mentioned do not provide American citizens an easy way to kill me.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) The thing is that same arguement can be applied to all of the amendments. The forefathers never imagined things like big business, abortion, terrorists without governments, transportation that rendered state-lines pointless, etc. Arguments could be made that domestic spying should be legal based on the same style of arguement that the absolute freedom of speech is outdated in a day where we have to worry about terrorism around every corner. You could pick any of the bill of rights amendments and make arguements that parts of it are outdated based on the changes over the last 230 years. I can't think of any other amendment that can directly get me killed.
  18. Remember everyone, I'm probably the most liberal person on this site so take my criticisms with a grain of salt.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) If I wanted to I could murder someone with a steak knife. Gun crime is much higher than steak knife crime.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) Why shouldn't law-abiding citizens be allowed to own guns? Because murderers were always at one point law-abiding citizens.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) You think the only purpose of having guns is to hunt? Well they can be used for murder as well. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) And in the case of guns, they felt so strongly about making sure that right was protected, they made sure to add that right immediately behind the freedom of speech. And IMO that's a very outdated line of thinking. I'll end it at that. I realize I'm severely outnumbered in this forum.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) They've never had guns, either. Here in America guns are everywhere and always have been. That's just reality. It's like trying to turn an aircraft carrier around with 10 feet to maneuver. I'm not a big fan of the "we've always did it this way" excuse and that applies to many situations in life.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) I dont know if I agree with you on this, but I have said that if I could, I would go back in tome and de-invent the gun. They scare the $h!t out of me. I hate them and never want to see one. I am all for fighting wars with bows and arrows, sticks, stones, and baseball bats. I'd love to see someone break into my apartment with a bow and arrow. BRING IT! LOL I realize most Americans won't.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) In a perfect world we could wave a magic wand and take everybody's guns away, so everyone is on equal footing. The problem IMO is that you can easily take guns away from people who obey the law, but by definition you can't take them away from criminals. So by taking away guns from law-abiding citizens all you do is leave them vulnerable to criminals. Just look at other Western countries that outlaw guns and their crime rates and compare them to ours.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Right. I'm saying I see no reason that a civilized society should have a need to bear arms.
