Anyone here watch the first gubernatorial debate?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 08:03 AM) Ballistics tests will tell the tale, whether the people want to believe them or not. Science > some random peoples "opinions". The facts are the police shot an unarmed teen whom was simply holding a sandwich that happened to shoot bullets. as Balta stated, there are eye witness accounts to this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) Plus he maces himself every day since that's fun. southside2k5 does? what a weirdo.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) I can't wait until we see the story about the cop that gets told "yeah I live here" and let's the place get robbed blind. well then they should be fired for not doing their job. if they arrest the burglar they should also be fired though. it's just one of those things. you wouldn't understand because you're uneducated about social justice.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) It's an American issue. you're one of the good ones. bless you bmags.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) There is a wonderful combination of people who don't believe Ebola is real, and those who think that this is vast American conspiracy to kill a bunch of Africans. Sounds like one of Eric Holder's loony theories

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) After Surgery, Surprise $117,000 Medical Bill From Doctor He Didn’t Know Piece in the NYT highlighting how more and more people are being hit with surprise medical bills that include huge charges from out-of-network physicians and surgeons who did little or nothing. I read that story yesterday. Very messed up.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 07:27 PM) saying you're going to take money out of people's pockets is a quick way to give your opponent a landslide victory. Yea, Quinn really did mess up with his massive tax hikes. It will probably cost him the election. But who knows, I think maybe Quinn's new attack ads on Rauner might stick. The outsourcing ads are probably doing damage to Rauner.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) so self absorbed they can't in any situation think about the other person. It's all about me, me, me. unfortunately, that's usually the case

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) I don't get this video. It shows clips of her video blog. it's showing that she is unelectable in Montana.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) So the Tribune had a poll with Rahm behind CTU head Karen Lewis the other day. I wouldn't expect that to hold up in an actual race, but Rahm has been pretty awful. I think Karen Lewis would be way worse. Rahm has my vote (can't believe i just said that).

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) And to the knife/shooting, if the police DIDN'T shoot him and he ended up stabbing a bystander or even one of the cops, why do I feel like the cops would be blamed for not acting on it? Yea, he would probably be in here complaining that the police "didn't do their job".

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) It doesn't seem like I'm the only person here who feels it's right to question the police. God forbid, that somebody does, or that they even have, GASP, civilian oversight. As a teacher, EVERYONE thinks they can tell teachers what to do, that we're wrong and why we're wrong, that we're too strict or not strict enough, that we can't just GIVE grades, students earn them. We're expected to be comedians/entertainers, guidance counselors and surrogate parents as well. It's fine, goes with the territory, I just kind of roll my eyes and realize that's the way it is always going to be. On the other hand, if you DARE question anything about the way a police officer does his job, you're likely to get shouted down (or even shot for questioning his authority). Seriously, enough. 9/11 was thirteen years ago. Do we still need "God Bless America" to express our patriotism at ballgames? Where was that song in the mid 1970's after the troops came back from Vietnam? haha, I'm not sure where the "God Bless America" rant came from but I agree with it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Greg, while graphic, beheadings are one of the more humane ways to go. There is no suffering. Getting your head "sawed off" with a knife is not gonna be fast or painless.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) wander/meander in the general direction of the police and menacingly go at the police are two quite different things you should be a police officer
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) I have a very hard time accepting that the only outcome of a man walking towards two police officers armed with a steak knife is that he's shot dead. i don't. if you go at the police with a butcher knife, you are probably getting shot.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) They'll need sleep at some point since the looting usually hits any time after nightfall. I'm sure they sleep all day. So lack of sleep will not be an issue.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) If you have been paying the least bit of attention to this story or just read the quotes from the witnesses posted a page back, you'd know the answer to your question is "both." So the story is he was running away and got shot in the back, so he turned around and stood with his hands in the air, at which time he was shot repeatedly. all for no reason; well except because the police officer was a racist. I now have heard from a supposed witness from within the angry mob out for revenge. Maybe that did happen. Now I will wait for evidence to support this witness account.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) you sure as s*** can't shoot a surrendering suspect in the front multiple times. which is it? he was shot in the back running or shot in the chest while his hands were in the air surrendering? here's my problem with people like you. every time a story like this comes out you are in the front leading the charge with an angry mob, even though you don't know what really happened. if it turns out you were wrong and "got" an innocent person, no apologies you simply move on with your angry mob for your next target and recklessly try to ruin them.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) There's this pretty important middle part you left out for some weird/dumb reason. probably the same part you keep leaving out

Well it turns out that the story I originally read in the news was incorrect. The story I heard was this young man was quietly studying in the local library, preparing for his first semester at Harvard, when the police swooped in and shot him for absolutely no reason other than they didn't like black people in the library. Turns out he was robbing stores, attacked a police office, tried to grab his gun, and ended up getting shot.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) Wait a second. I thought he was just an innocent kid minding his business waiting for college to start? so did i! what's going on here!
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) Last night still had a shooting, assault, armed robbery, 3 police cars damaged, 3 police officers injured from rocks thrown, a cameraman beat up by a protester. how dare you. these are all peaceful protests. it's the police actually doing the looting and stuff. i read it on huffington post or somethin.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) Whenever someone says, I'm not doing/saying X and follows it with a BUT, they are. ^^^

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) How does the US let this nonsense happen? Doesn't this de-legitimize the UN? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/07...Dome-with-Hamas I don't think there is any country that takes the UN seriously. It's just theater.
