QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) Like when they shut the government down over the tax cuts and Iraq war. the Democrats supported the Iraq war and like taxes.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 12:59 AM) Obama is a celebrity president. Nothing he does affects his popularity negatively. He's one of the most popular presidents ever with the masses who wish they could vote for him another four years, then another. If he could keep running, he'd be president another 20 years minimum. You'd think a guy with his type of popularity could, uh, actually lead somebody. Did you see clip of Melanie Griffith today? She said we should fire all the politicans over the shutdown. Then she waved the cameraman back and said, except Obama, he's "cool." Our country I'm afraid is beyond hope like caufield wrote. We're going to be passed by many nations in the next 50 years. So many things wrong with our politicians and our people. it really is a bad situation. but Obama is sinking in the polls http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-D...b-Approval.aspx 51% disapprove and 41% approve. as his attacks on the middle class intensify, i think we will seem him dip much further. hopefully by the end of his term he will be politically radioactive, no politician will want to be associated with his corrupt, anti-middle class, regime.

To me, StrangeSox is nothing but a shill for for the corrupt Democrat machine hell-bent on destroying the middle class. He is anti-worker. I guess he supports college athletes, which is good, but then he supports Obama. Obama is like a reverse Robin Hood, he steals from the poor to give to the wealthy.

Obozocare...shipping jobs overseas and giving tax cuts to billionaires http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.c...rdable-care-act more anti-middle class Obama regime attacks http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-andrzej..._b_3936877.html Wow. and Obozo is fighting for the middle class? Can we all agree... he is with the 1%?

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) You think the NHS is capable of reattaching a penis to an arm, you socialists? it would have to get cleared by the death panel first, probably.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) I saw a guy walk in there with his dismembered penis in his hand. ...whoa

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) I'm sure they were all just gung ho for these guys too. The 'Tea Party' loved Herman Cain, for what it's worth.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/business-pus...article/2536800 Disgraceful. laying off workers then demanding an expansion to a government program that used to replace those workers with low cost guest workers. Will the Obama regime and his corrupt corporate buddies stop at anything to destroy the middle class?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) OMG, Mr. Genius. This is what's wrong with America. We only care about ourselves. Geezus, care about your brothers and sisters. WTF. unlike texsox, i do support the workers in this fine country.

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) Really? yes, really. but your hypocrisy doesn't surprise me. i've actually come to expect it. so did you actually ban that guy?
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 07:22 AM) Duke, you have reached an all time low. In my years here I have read some pretty despicable things, yesterday you hit the Hall of Shame. Frankly I am embarrased as a long time member here and a mod to allow your posts to remain visible. I hope that most readers understand that you do not reflect the soxtalk community. As a state employee I personally find your remarks insensitive, demeaning, insulting, and beyond contempt. For the first time since I became a mod I will be recommending that your posting privileges be suspended. Total overreaction. I've seen plenty of peoples careers mocked in here, and u joined in. But now you are offended. Boo hoo

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 05:45 PM) Unless the US ends immigration restrictions, minimum wage, Im not really sure that will happen. Cost of labor is extreme in the US because the labor market is artificially restricted. When you mess with supply and cost, you screw demand. are you Alex Nowrasteh? your posts seem very familiar. he/you work(s) at the CATO Institute

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) This going to be blunt and you probably aren't going to like it. I dont care about what happens to government workers because of this. I've never had a positive experience with a civilian government employee. They are all totally and utterly worthless, both in the work they're expected to do but also in the small fraction of that expectation that they actually accomplish. Usually this doesn't bother me, I'm not a big stickler for service. I stay polite, finish my business and vow never to return. But I have no choice but to pay for the salaries of government employees. I'm forced to chip into your wages at the barrell of a gun. So yea, f*** you too. You and your incompetent nepotist pals got unceremoniously fired just like so many of the rest of us have. Sucks doesn't it? But you've all been getting fat raises and nice union settlements on the back of our money for so long you should have something in the tank. but think about it. maybe you should get a government job. hear me out. you could (in theory) be a jackass to everyone all day, get paid a ton of money to do it, and can't get fired. this could actually be a dream job for you.

I put the over/under on the shutdown at 2 weeks. Would you take the over or under on this bet?
-
i'm not sure what the GOP is trying to accomplish with this shutdown. i'm sure they will cave in at some point and just end up looking stupid.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 11:14 PM) Would be nice if these ass clowns didn't get paid during a government shutdown. Congress still gets paid if the government shuts down? That is stupid. They should get nothing.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Boo. Go in anyways. No pesky government employees to tell u what u can do.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) Why do millions of Americans beg for visas to the United States when supposedly there arent any jobs in the US? Soxbadger, turns out Americans don't need a visa to work in United States.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) He's absolutely right. Which is why we should stop screwing around with science funding, because this season is a terrible thing for science. I didn't apply for overseas jobs until this year. I am now. I want a us job but the us doesn't want scientists. And that's not sarcastic, the us is behaving like a country that wants its scientists to leave. And the rest of the world is smart enough to jump on that. Why is there like a million foreign scientists begging for a visa to work in the US if the country hates scientists?
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) My guess is there is a gulf between theoretical scientists that are working on pure research and scientists that are trying to create a new and improved mouthwash or a kitty litter that will handle three cats. Balta, which kind of scientist are you?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 10:56 AM) I can also get the PS4 version for $10 if I get it for PS3. nice

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) Every scientist in the country hates you. The number of scientists trying to find jobs overseas is remarkable. that's weird. i just saw an Obama speech where he said we had an extreme scientist shortage and needed to bring in scientists from overseas to fill the the millions of open scientist jobs. i don't even know what to believe any more.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) The thing I am amazed about is how quiet everything has been on the sequester for the last however many months. It has barely been mentioned and the economy hasn't even blinked. that would be because no cares anymore. just let it happen and get it over with. time to shut er down!

Massive overnight shooting at Southside Chicago park

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) The L has been and will always be an albatross. It provides nothing buses cannot already do except more convienent places for theft and rolling homes for the homeless. The city cannot afford it, much less afford to keep it running 24/7. For what you pay (last time I took it was $2.25 but I heard it went up in some convoluted scheme only Chicago would conjure) you get what? Frequently late, always filthy and generally crime ridden train rides. They'll never take it down like they should. Its an icon of a time when Chicago was even moderately relevqnt, before it had a spiraling murder problem and got globally humiliated by the one institution more corrupt than they are dude, the L is fine and a million time faster than the bus. riding the bus sucks. i wish Chicago had more CTA train routes. -
