  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Thus, my second sentence. word, i was just agreeing.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) If that 20k makes a difference, then I suppose so. But some of those would have voted Green no matter what - not like they are protest votes. What is the 20k as a percentage thus far? Is it material? a lot of "green" voters wouldn't have voted democrat anyways. it's not a good excuse for losing.
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Reading the comments on Zorn's blog, I was amazed how many people were calling for a vote for Whitney. Looks like the Greens will have an easier time next go-round. definately. they need to get up to 5%, which i think the will. i voted for Whitney today, actually liked him a lot more than Topinka or Blago. "11% is HUGE for a Green party candidate for Gov." if i'm reading the numbers right, thats mostly downstate votes too.. he could get upwards of 15%. wow
  4. i hope the dems win, the republicans needed a political beating to set them straight. enough with GW Bush's moronic foreign policy and his paying political debt to the evangelicals. even if the dems take the house and the senate i wouldn't call it a "mandate" to raise taxes through the roof, cut military intelligence, and lock up the government with constant bi-partisan bickering. if the dems try their usual nonsense it'll only help the republicans in 2008.
  5. that website is awesome
  6. Yea, Matthews has been on this "If you live in TN and don't vote for Ford you're a racist" kick all week.
  7. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Personally, I think they should make voting easier and put it online (if they can keep the hackers out), that would be a very risky move. it would be extremely difficult/expensive to have it online and safe.
  8. i don't see how this is a legit news story. some preacher is a hypocrite, wow. stop the presses. the guy isn't an elected official or running for anything, it's really a stretch on the MSM to try to make this into a political scandal.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Wait, injury to Logan? Haven't heard anything about this. oh no, NOOO!
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) There is one more possible explaination, if a player on another team suddenly lost 20 pounds and his team soured on him, what would we be saying? well, if he was on juice i'd hate to see his numbers (unless those numbers came from him playing for the twins) clean. the guy couldn't hit at all last year.
  11. i'm not suprised. i knew this stuff was happening. it's total bs that it's allowed to happen. thanks for the update, it's definately something to watch.
  12. Jay Mariotti threatened to sue wikipedia if they didn't remove anything in his article that mentioned he has feuded with anyone (ever). they gave in and removed any suggestion that jay is anything but a respected journalist. they also locked it for a while, someone should go update it. other than that , wikipedia is the best.
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) I disagree. I think there is no way, grammatically or otherwise, he was referring to Bush. He said "stuck IN Iraq". He meant exactly what he said - they'd get stuck there serving. Bush isn't IN Iraq. It makes no sense. Which makes Kerry's absurd responses all the more insulting. The man truly cannot lead. oh, i agree he can't lead. i really don't like the guy. i just think he meant to say "get US stuck in Iraq". i could be wrong though, it wouldn't suprise me if he really was that big of a jerk.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I didn't say otherwise. Look more closely at what was said. If a person is uneducated, they are more likely to HAVE to join the military as a way out. This is because they have a lot fewer options. Many very well-educated people join the military, but not generally out of NEED. Is that more clear? in many cases, the youngest memebers of the military have the same level of education as their peers whom are newly enrolled in college. it is often people without the resources to attend college that join the military as a way to have access to the needed resources to further their education after their service. the vast majority of people without a degree do not join the military. it is a difficult path to take when there are other options. so you do not NEED to join the military if you don't have an advanced degree, other options are available. also, as i stated earlier, Kerry wasn't even trying to imply that if you don't study hard you'll end up serving in Iraq. in context, it is obvious he was trying to make a joke about Bush's academic career and his viewed inability to "get us out of Iraq". QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) That study linked above is skewing the facts pretty heavily. 90% of officers have college degrees? wow, that would be like saying 90% of managers at Taco Bell have degrees. It's pretty much a requirement for the job. officers are members of the military so their education level would be relevant to the discussion.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) > The fact that he is 100% correct members of the armed services are no less educated than the average american. that is a fact.
  16. dude, thats the sweetest holloween costume i've ever seen.
  17. QUOTE(S720 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) did not serve...did not serve....did not serve so are you implying anyone that hasn't served in the military should have no opinion on foreign affairs or political speech? where is your list of democrats and mainstream media personalities that "did not serve"? where are getting this list from anyways?
  18. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) I guess the media isn't as interested in this as the Foley story. CNN reporters actually expresstheir desire that they 'hope the story goes away soon'. http://newsbusters.org/node/8745 http://newsbusters.org/node/8746 we'll see if this lasts as long as "macaca gate" . they were talking about that for about a month.
  19. i agree, this was the worst world series winning team ever
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) if the cubs lose 30+ Hr's and 100+ rbi's they will officially be trying to win every game 1-0 they can do that! GO CUBBIES!
  21. i have to say it... Back to the future II and III totally blew so did 'Family Ties'. sorry, but someone had to add a level of truthiness to this discussion.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Luckily you won't have to vote for him next week. i'm writing him in for Governor of Illinois
  23. i just read Kerry's quote, and it does seem like he was trying to question Bush's intelligence (not military personnel). haha, but the best quote from an unnamed democrat congressman... "I guess Kerry wasn't content blowing 2004, now he wants to blow 2006, too."
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 10:32 AM) there's going to be no choice but a draft highly unlikely. actually, i'll change that to "there is no way that is going to happen".
  25. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) I wish I could find a video of the Daily Show interview where Blagojevich gets asked if he's the gay governor
