  1. I love this trade. Three iffy prospects for a guy who will be a bonafide, swith-hitting stud.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Nah. Trust me, if we could land Bedard some how, I'd flip flop on this trade about as fast as anyone. Getting a guy like Bedard would make us legit contenders imo. Fields + Danks for Bedard? I'm not one for trade ideas and bulls*** like that, but Crede plays 3B for us and Baltimore gets to your ML-ready players with huge upside for Bedard. How does that no get done?
  3. Swish is a 27 year old who knows how to take a walk, hits for power from both sides of the plate... and is only going to get that much better in the Cell. This is beautiful.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) No f***ing way. Trade your top 3 prospects for an overrated Moneyball OF? Fire KW before this becomes official. You = drunk.
  5. Just because they are 3 of our top prospects, that doesn't mean they are good... what are you people talking about!?!? Everyone here had given up on Ryan Sweeney, now he's a prospect that it hurts to trade? DLS is a bullpen bound player who won't arrive for 3 seasons, and Gio we all knew was trade-bait. Swisher will be a monster in the Cell.
  6. From San Jose Mercury News
  7. Wow, I think Swisher is going to be our CF... I believe Orlando Cabrera may be our leadoff hitter this year.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) I know when he was in the minors a lot of people thought he'd play center. That said, he's a bigger guy so I don't think he'd have the range for CF. Quentin would be more likely to play CF, imo. This move gives the Sox a huge OBP guy to have near the top of the order and gets them another young position player (although they obviously gave up a couple of there finest prospects). My question is does this make the Sox consider moving one of there veteran bats. How do they not? Swisher fits in the 3-4-5 somewhere, and they have Dye-Thome-Konerko there... I think Pauly has a foot out the door now and hopefully we see him on the Angels for a good return soon.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) DLS gone? Gah. f***. this. DLS is at least three years away, who cares... Gio's the biggest piece here and Nick Swisher is going to CRUSH in the Cell... the smaller foul territory will = a 20 point increase in batting average alone.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) It is official.....Gio/DSL/Sweeney for Nick Swisher Three iffy spects for a 27 year old stud potential bat entering his prime? Nice move, KW.
  11. Swish hit .262 but with a .381 OBP last year, 22 dongs, 78 RBI, 36 2B. Sounds like just Sweeney and Gio.
  12. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) Gio gone, Sweeney gone more details to follow Good info, I'll post more as I find it... ummm we have a lot of OF now... but still no CF?
  13. just heard on 670, more details to follow. Kenny Williams on Swisher “Nick is a quality switch hitter who consistently gets on base, hits for power and drives in runs,” Williams said. “He gives Ozzie Guillen offensive flexibility with his ability to hit in a number of spots up and down the batting order, and his athleticism allows him to play any outfield position or first base. Nick brings to the ballpark a mix of hard-nosed play, energy and a commitment to winning, and he brings it each and every day. He’s a great addition to our team and clubhouse.”
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) That's all fine and well, but "collusion" is serious business. If the Colts are doing it out of their own concern for their terrible backup QB's health, that's one thing -- but if they're doing it with Jeff Fisher on the line, well, there's something wrong. This is true. Who gives a s*** if the Colts bench their starters... they earned that right. Who cares if they just want to go home and have no intention of calling a timeout? They earned that right too. They did not earn the right to give Fisher a call and have the information relayed effect the play that's called on the other end. That's cheating.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) Got College Hoops 2K8. Whenever I have a transition lay up chance, I end up shooting from 5 feet and can't get my guys to do lay ups. My big guys dunk but I can't get anyone to do a lay up. Ends up a jumper from 5 feet. If its anything like NBA 2k8, just hold your directional joystick toward the basket and then use the shotstick hitting up and you'll layup or dunk. These games take an adjustment period but you'll figure it out and soon after adore them.
  16. Go to the link, the pictures worth a thousand words. story
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) Bears? Trade for Anderson? I think that might be one of the worse moves they could make. Trading for a flash in the pan who could easily come back down to Earth would be a bad idea.
  18. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Noah looking real good this 4th quarter BTW, since we're not using Tyrus can we just trade him already? I agree, this is getting ridiculous. Tyrus is about to = Marcus Fizer.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:32 PM) He's not an all-star, but he is a #1. Lalime wouldn't cut it playing 65 games a year. If there's some other solution, maybe, but to throw Lalime in there...that'd be disastrous. The easiest thing to do over the past 3 years is blame the goaltender. It's like blaming grossman. The last 2 years he's had a POS team in front of him, and this year he's played well at times and hasn't had many bad games. He just had a great streak of hockey, he gets pulled yesterday even though he wasn't terrible and people want to pile back on. I think quite a few better options have already been named in this thread. I'm advocating a salary dump. If we have to take on a crappy d-man making 3.5-4 mill per then obviously we just wait for Khabby's contract to end... but if someone would take him off our hands and absorb 75% of his salary, I would move him first and worry about 08-09 afterwards. I think the argument that Lalime can't start 65 games and be a #1 is off considering how good he was in Ottawa just before the strike. If you gave him the reigns I think he could easily match Khabibulin's production this season. Of course, I could be wrong, but we're all calling Bulin a #1 because of what he did with Tampa before the strike, so using the same reasoning for Lalime only makes sense.
  20. smelly gold.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) You keep saying next year is the big year or what not, and you want Lalime starting? Right. Nik and his .900 save percentage doesn't exactly suggest #1 goaltender. Just because Lalime isn't the answer, that doesn't mean Nik is... and Lalime sure doesn't make the "highest salary of any Chicago Blackhawk in team history."
