  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Did you feel the same with Frank last offseason? ha, no. there's quite a difference between Frank's performance last season and JD's performances... and also, for the last 3 years, JD has been healthy, while frank hasn't played a full season in years. your comparison is way off.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:10 AM) You don't sign a 33 year old with an injury past to a long term deal. We have Dye for one more after this and if continues to put up the numbers next year, you maybe offer a two-year extension. But, I would not sign him long-term because as a team you need bargain guys and he is too old to offer a long-term extension to. i dont give a darn about baseball business. at this point, JD has earned it, and to hell with what business says, reward him for what he has done and lock him up for a few more years.
  3. I really need a new album. Audioslave has another album coming out in a month, but I'm wary of it. I adored the first album... and have always been a fan of Chris Cornell's work despite his antics. However, Audioslave's second album was not nearly as well done as the first, and the first single off of their newest album, "Original Fire" was a tad too funky. It starts out ok, but when they get to the messed up solo (a keen ripoff to the wacky solo that really works in "Like a Stone," off of the first album) it just kind of fell off. I hope the full album flows well. If anyone has some alternative/rock albums that they have purchased in the last few months that blew them away, please PM me, or respond in this thread.
  4. my point was more claiming that we should give him a phat raise and extend him as well. i don't know if JD could catch Big Papi, but he does have a leg up in the fact that he does field a position, and rather well. the best thing about JD is the fact that he is humble, and he is a good guy. i remember, right after we signed him, he was on MTV's cribs. Normally not a show I watch, but Dye was on it. He's got a nice pad, and a shrine to Garth Brooks. He's such a relief from some athletes like Manny Ramirez and the Cincinatti Bengals. Ah looove JD. yes.
  5. I must say, throughout this season, I have claimed that Jim Thome, not Jermaine Dye, was our team's MVP, because of the effect his presence has had on the entire lineup. However, from World Series MVP to now, I must change my vote to Jermaine Dye. Though I understand that Thome may have had an effect at the beginning of the season, Jermaine Dye has risen to the top of baseball's outfielders. He has absolutely killed the ball this season, and always seems to come up with the big hit. Am I the only person who thinks that at the end of the season, rather than activating Dye's option for another year, the White Sox should offer him a new, 3-year deal, at around 10-12 mill per season? I think it is the right thing to do, at this point. He has more than earned that money, and should be locked up for a few more years, at least until the end of his prime. I don't care who we have in AAA (hell left field should be open!)
  6. Let's play as hard as we did last night.
  7. crashing into yankee stadium...
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Yeah seriously...wtf...we were pleading for him and now we hear nothing on him Tim Day. Who cares?
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) Why do the Sox need to go 18-2 in their next 20? That is totally unrealistic. If they win 13 of the next 20, with Liriano going to the DL and the Red Sox struggling, that would be huge. The only way the Tigers are going to be caught is if they lose and come back to the pack (which is still possible, but more unlikely by the day). 13 of 20 might be a tad unrealistic.
  10. I know this White Sox team. I do not hold out much hope against Wang. "Whoa! He said Wang, huh huh!"
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) All things considered...we have a packed house with a chance at 3 million tickets sold in the regular season this year...it's not like we're in the poorhouse. THIS is true.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Yes there were rumors, but last report he was still in Cuba, so I dunno. What would be nice though is just to get a few of these guys in our minor league system just to try to rebuild it, if any of them do wind up showing some promise. those would probably wind up being pretty expensive minor leaguers.
  13. something ive been curious about... who originally started soxtalk? i think it would be really cool to have a link on the frontpage with the "History of Soxtalk" with some screen captures. statistics of the board over the years, as well as a narrative about how it started and where it has gone since then...
  14. I'm not thinking any of these guys will be Major League contributors. Usually, an agent would hype the hell out of a player if he really was all that jazz... this guy compares players to Yuniesky Betancourt.

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) Cool show, funny as hell with lots of hot women. I didn't know that not only does Mark Walberg produce the show, but that it's also partly based on his early Hollywood expriences. Johnny Drama = Donny Wahlberg
  16. QUOTE($I Need Money$ @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) f*** YEAH REPEAT b****ES!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! f*** YEAH MOTHERf***ERS WERE GONNA SWEEP THE YANKEES b****ES! yeah. that signature needs to go.

    QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 03:24 AM) I have to agree with the casino scenes; Ari losing it was absolutely hillarious. Could you imagine how pissed he would have been if Vince lost that hand? I loved when he kissed that bald dude on his head... Ari is the man.
  18. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) until he learns that, we will never see a World Series in chicago.
