QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) and... I think I just fell in love with you. There's got to be some kind of award I can nominate this post for, right? Feel free to bookmark stevotown.com Beyond that, feel free to call haters like soxbadger a bunch of HATERS. I was only slightly drunk.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
Speaking of LeBron. The other night I heard he nor Wade had hit a damn 3 pointer all season. Then I'm watching a game vs the Spurs and LeBron is just going apes*** in the 3rd quarter, 3's galore. Games 1-10 (ONE THROUGH TEN) he is 0-5 on 3 point attempts - meanwhile this beastly cumguzzler is shooting like 60% on the season on mostly insane drives to the basket and OMFG dunks that really shouldn't be possible for a human. His last 3 games? After NOT MAKING A SINGLE THREE in TEN f***ing games? BLI-F*CKIN-DOW 9-14 from three point range. Dominant. Insane. No longer care that he wanted to be Wade's butt buddy. LBJ can put on a show. And yes, this is why the NBA owns all. It can be so utterly weird.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) Heh, Id say if Howard stays healthy this year its probably between him and lebron, in the east. It's very early. This year makes a much better case for Dwight than last year did, no question. Either way, if the season ended today and LeBron weren't given the MVP I'd consider the trophy a sham. He's been a f***ing God thus far.

Snowmageddon 2012!
QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Yeah this is pretty ridiculous. I'm more comfortable walking to where i need to go right now rather than driving there. I love, love, love driving in the snow. It's not a hard concept. The problem is 99% of the world is a bunch of p*****s and drives 4 miles an hour and doesn't make lights. People suck. However, driving home from the bar tonight felt like GTA on steroids. I heart driving in snow.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) Where did I say ANYTHING about free throws? I was talking strictly post moves, and while Dwight doesn't have the moves of say Al Jefferson, his moves make Griffin's look even worse. Either way, suggesting him for MVP last year was kind of a joke. Dwight is the least consequential "super star" I've seen in a long time. Sure, the stats are great, but he never dominates the way Shaq did, and he's inconsequential in crunch time.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) No, you misunderstand me. When they have both Butler and Paul, they still aren't that good a team. The fact that they're playing awful tonight without him has nothing to do with my opinion of their team, as this isn't the first time I've watched them. Yeah, sorry I posted that before completely catching up. I see your point. They are a top 4 team in the West with Paul, but yeah, they aren't raising one to the rafters anytime soon.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) He should have won it last year. Or no. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Also, it's kind of sad how bad Blake Griffin is in the post. He should be able to score at will whenever he wants, but just doesn't have a clue about how to make a real post move. Crazy. Reminds of Dwight. Funny how much you contradicted yourself in one post. Gosh, but if you foul Blake, he can't shoot free throws... at least Dwight (your 2011 NBA MVP) can hit free throws.

What are your NFL predictions for this weekend?
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) lets make these predictions and weekend interesting.. I'll give the person who comes to the closest on both games and pick the right MVP of each game, 2 Sox tickets for a game this summer. rules are you have to pick both winners and the 2 mvps of each game, your MVP pick has to be right. your predictions must be in by kickoff of the AFC game. also NO 2 people can have the same predictions Dude, I like you a lot immediately. That's awesome.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) 49ers 27 NYG 17 Man, I really have a hard time seeing the Niners put up 27 on the Giants. Their defense has been absurd lately. I'll go with... NYG 16, SF 9 (Eli) NE 34, BAL 17 (Brady)

2011-2012 NHL Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) St Louis has been amazing this year. The messed up part is that no matter what happens, the best that the next two teams can do is 4th and 5th, which could in theory pit the 2nd and 3rd best teams against each other in the first round. Yeah, I f***ing hate division winner seeding across all sports.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Do I need to even ask why the Celtics would trade Allen for that kind of return, or have we already clarified that this is a fantasy universe where this will never, ever happen? Apologies if this has already been covered. The last few pages have been pretty absurd to read, so I've been zoning in and out. Draft picks.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Lebron is just more natural when Wade isnt on the court. That's because no Wade = playing like King again... the guy we all wanted to watch before he pussed out.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) Id need zoom to explain the facts, but Korver+ Brewer doesnt match Allen's salary, and i dont think that there is a rule that being 300k over the cap is any less than being 5mil over the cap. Not to mention that Id want to move Boozer, so moving Boozer to another team could create a trade exception, etc. But hey, keep making things up, I merely said it makes no sense to move Brewer for Allen when the Bulls are built on being a defensive team. It makes sense to move Korver/Hamilton for a more offensive player, but not Brewer. In your opinion it makes sense, mine it doesnt, well see what the Bulls do, but Id be shocked if Brewer is moved for Allen. Christ dude. I'm not making things up. The numbers don't have to match. They're both over the cap. The salaries can be no more 125% going either way of the outbound deals... Also, wanting to move Boozer is some dumbass s*** because no one is taking him. There's no reason for anyone to take Boozer and his years.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) Who said it would be awful? If youre referring to me, I said it makes no sense because Brewer plays a valuable role for the Bulls and you could likely get Allen without him being added. I then said I dont even see why the Celtics would want Brewer so he probably has more value to the Bulls than to the Celtics. Thus it doesnt make sense to trade him. You can disagree with that if you want, but I dont believe anyone said its an "awful" deal. semantics Saying it makes "no sense" when it actually makes perfect sense is "idiotic". How are you getting Allen without Ronnie Brewer? In the NBA you have to match a certain amount of salary when you are over the cap. You could trade CJ Watson, but I doubt we would want to tie our boat to the JLIII dock. You would have to trade Omer + Taj + more to match Brewer's salary. The only deal that makes sense is Korver and Brewer, and really it makes a ton of sense because Rip then comes off the bench backing up SF and SG, which is Brewer's exact role with the team. Even Korver, Asik, Butler doesn't work, but that's a completely and utterly skull-f***ingly terribly idea for the Chicago Bulls. Allen to the Bulls won't happen, but the best way it could would be for Korver, Brewer, and a pick or two. Brewer doesn't carry a quarter of the value you portray on this board. You can say "you could likely get Allen without him being added", as you did, but that just shows your complete lack of knowledge when it comes to the NBA, the Chicago Bulls, and how trades work.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Anyone with athleticism can be an NBA player (cough Tyrus f***ing Thomas cough). There's plenty of dudes with athleticism who never made it to the NBA. This is a ridiculous post.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
NBA defensive ratings are a sham. It just so happens that players on good teams have better ratings and players on bad teams have worse ratings. There was nothing right with the Pistons the last many years. That being said, Rip's no stopper, this whole argument is stupid and does nothing to lessen the fact that Ray Allen in a deal that loses Ronnie Brewer would not be some awful deal because we dealt Brewer.

SOPA
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) In related news, MegaUpload was shut down and their employees arrested. In other words, we've just been given a nice real-world example of why SOPA isn't even needed if they go ahead and enforce laws already in place. Of course, it helps that Megaupload had some servers in the US.

That's a sunk category. Sadly, looking at the rest of your roster, so is field goal percentage.
