  1. I'm coming around on this given the special scenario that the league's owners each owns part of the Hornets. F*ck it, send Dwight to New Jersey, and find me some information about Jason Richardson coming to the Bulls.
  2. The league could simply stop all this horses*** by not allowing players to sign extensions with new teams if traded in the final year of their deal. The team acquiring said player is guaranteed at least another year after the acquiring year, in that scenario. If you abolish the extension in the final year, then the player becomes a free agent... in this case teams that area already loaded would be too close to the cap or over the cap to make an offer on the players. If I'm the Bulls, and Dwight requests a trade the final year he can (with one year remaining in said scenario), it makes way more sense to toss a huge package with the hopes you can win in those two seasons and he can be convinced that Chicago is pretty great, and so is Rose. Yes, this would be the perfect fix to the situation.
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) Actually, I believe it will severely hurt the league int he long run. Smaller market, or less privileged teams will be treated as "feeders" to the larger markets. This is how it works in the MLB. Now Dwight is forcing his way to NJ. Man, whatever happened to requesting a trade to multiple teams to help the franchise that has paid you for the first 7 years of your career out? Give them a f***ing LIST, man.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 07:40 AM) Who the f*** WANTS to be a NJ Net? That just is ridiculous to even type The question you have to ask is... who wants to be a Brooklyn Net, since that's really all that matters. Jay-Z has a ton of pull in the league, too. It's too bad Kanye is such a douchebag, or else I'd recommend the Bulls sell him 5% and bring him into every meeting.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) The NBA owning the Hornets is a major problem, thats what should really be questioned. And in the end, my point that the NBA is f***ed because of this remains valid.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Steve, If KW agrees to a trade and Reinsdorf says no, do you think the trade still happens? Different sports, different history, different rules. Go away. Congrats, lawyer. You care not about the NBA. I will post my opinion as someone who has cared about the league a very long time. Giving owners who compete with teams in the league a vote is such an epic fail. This is like giving Brian Cashman a vote when the Red Sox pull off an awesome trade.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) The problem is that the NBA should have never been able to "buy" the Hornets in the first place and create that kind of conflict of interest. Yes. This all screams of corruption. In a league that has already dealt with rumors of corruption. A trade was agreed to by the General Managers of teams, and it fell within the acceptable parameters of the salary cap and league rules. The league has never given a damn who was involved. Players who have been corpses in the league have been dealt very recently (ie - the contract of so and so traded). This is part of the NBA. A trade that fell within the parameters of acceptable by league standards has been blocked for the first time in my memory. The landscape of the NBA has changed. I wanted no part of CP3 going to the Lakers, but I am entirely saddened that my favorite sport has decided to kick it's credibility to the curb.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Majority of 29 owners. Obviously Alexander and Buss didn't. Right now league spokesman Tim Frank has said the owners had nothing to do with the decision, saying the league office made a "basketball decision."
  9. Chris Paul will explore legal options along with union chief Billy Hunter after the NBA inexplicably stopped Thursday's big trade, and there are rumors that he will not show up in Hornets camp. Right now league spokesman Tim Frank has said the owners had nothing to do with the decision, saying the league office made a "basketball decision." This is all really, really, really, really, really bad for the NBA. Also, WTF Bulls DO SOMETHING.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Ok, the NBA owns the Hornets, who have bled money for the NBA. The 29 owners said no, so therefore, trade can't go through. They have as much right to veto it as Reinsdorf can veto a Bulls trade. Plus, the Hornets would be taking on $50M in contracts for three 30 year olds as opposed to Paul's expiring, thus costing the NBA more money. And Paul won't honor his contract. Sorry, but the owners had every right to veto it and did. Well, thank you for typing it up so coherently. I guess these are all valid points. So you say 29 owners said no? Meaning even at least one team involved in the trade said no?
  11. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) How is the NBA f***ed? Because fans in LA will be pissed? I'm the farthest thing from an LA fan, and I am pissed. The commish just came down and vetoed a trade that (after the three way) was beneficial to the Hornets. However, it made the Lakers the f***ing s***... yet again... and that was the problem. Trust me, when I saw CP3 to the Lakers I was pissed, BUT they PULLED IT OFF. I like teams with balls. This just feels like a huge problem to me. I don't reckon I'd heard that CP3 would sign an extension with the Lakers. If someone could point that out, I'd enjoy reading. Right now it feels like the Lake Joint paid a s***load for a one year rental. And it got blocked. Because WWE has taken over.
  12. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) I didn't think any trades could be officially completed until the owners ratified the new CBA which, as far as I know, won't happen until tomorrow. How is the NBA f***ed? Because fans in LA will be pissed? The CBA was ratified by the Player's Union earlier today.
  13. WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski To listen to the GM's, coaches, players, agents reaching out to me tonight: I think the NBA has changed forever with Stern's act tonight. Pretty much. The league is so f***ed hard.
  14. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Why? Because of a trade that didn't happen? The fair trade DID happen. He vetoed it, which really was beyond his power. The NBA is f***ed after this.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Why? Because the league exercised ownership rights over a team that it owned? The trade should not have gotten to that point if this was true.
  16. So the NBA died and lost all respectability tonight.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) SAS seems to believe Howard to the Lakers is imminent. Once this deal happened it was a foregone conclusion.
  18. It's annoying to me that somewhere out there there are legit people who are both Angels and Lakers fans.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) If the Hornets are getting Kevin Martin, I wonder if it's a possibility for the Bulls to trade for him. The Bulls would have to dump a decent amount of salary to absorb Martin's $12 million. That would mean one of Brewer or Korver (or maybe both) + Asik + Charlotte pick at the least. And that's assuming the Hornets would want to dump Martin... The Bulls don't make the necessary moves to win. Don't bother.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) If the Lakers don't get Dwight At this point it's a foregone conclusion. The Lakers don't swing and miss.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) No way in hell they trade Odom/Gasol and rely on a full season's health from Andrew Peavy. Something is going down with Howard. I can feel it. The inevitability of it is what saddens me.
  22. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) A package of what? This is going to be a pathetic haul for Howard, if true. Kinda like when they get Gasol.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) More importantly, what does Khloe Kardashian think about this deal? hopefully the Hornets sign Humphries so it can be really awkward.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Paul to the Lakers? Well there's your west champ. Howard is going to LA. We all know it. Hooray for the impact the new CBA has had on competitive balance. This is even more unsettling than Miami last year, because apparently it will never end AND the Bulls will never be the team with the balls.
  25. QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) wish kenny williams could GM the bulls as well maybe then we would be willing to pull the trigger on a FA or a trade We'd be shoe-ins for T-Mac and Grant Hill if that were the case.
