another reason i want the sox to win NOW? i think thornton's right: the tribe is licking their chops for a chance to de-rail our season. -

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) Javy isn't half the warrior Jordan was, but yeah I hope he has a big game. the same could be said for the rest of the planet, imo. -

wish i could find that topic which someone posted a few months ago on how to access the games for free...maybe if you started searching the old threads from this season, you'll see it. I never tried it but supposedly others did and it works. -

someone already post this? here's the lineup: OC, SS; AJ, C; JD, RF; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Griff, CF; Alexei, 2B; Wise, LF; Uribe, 3B. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) Yeah, but he has over a .300 career average at the Metrodome. If anybody is immune to the virus the team seems to catch up there it should be him. i'd love to see him step it up. i don't know - just not holding out much hope for this series, i guess. not a good sign when you've got guys like OC saying this team doesn't act like it's in first, guys like AJ saying some guys play scared in the dome, Ozzie having to throw down the smack to motivate one of his most talented pitchers, and Konerko saying it's no big deal if they have a bad series, as if he's preparing himself for it already. Not feeling the mojo, i guess you'd say.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:24 AM) AJ is hitting over .400 against the Twins this year. and below .200 in September
-
i don't see how, in the last week of the season, sox pitchers are suddenly going to do a better job of holding runners.
-
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Let's make it interesting. Who will step up and who will crap the bed?? OC, Wise and Uribe step up, AJ takes a crap.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Sure does. I don't remember being this scared in '05 but I'm sure I was. Mariotti was reminding us of the monumental collapse he was hoping the Sox would fulfill. 05 was worse - especially with all the doom and gloom around here, people saying "who cares, they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs even if they do make it."
-
in case anyone missed the update over the weekend....
-
QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) I only point it out because most people, including myself, forget how much pressure is really on the Twins in this series. now that i think about it, you make a great point. their entire season comes down to pulling off a sweep (essentially, although they could hope for some help from a very hot Tribe). If the tables were turned that would be enormous pressure on the sox.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Uh...they have their playoff hopes to lose. just a manner of speaking. they aren't trying to hold onto a lead, they're playing catch up.
-
I thank Gardenhire for going with Liriano yesterday. I understand his thinking - get a win and have a chance to sweep going into the series with the sox. But it's also a boost to the sox not having to face a lefty in the dome (ie, death). Make no mistake, minny is thinking of one thing: sweep. And they have nothing to lose and a sellout crowd to rile them up. man, i miss carlos.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) The toin coss was done a couple weeks ago and yours truly posted the thread. The Sox won over the Twins. If the Sox play the game in Detroit and the season comes out tied between the Sox and Twins, there will be a 1 game playoff for the Central, probably next Tuesday, at the Cell. The coin toss was for home field and we won. hate to be technical, but it's not a one game playoff. Statistically, it's game 163. Only then would they in fact clinch.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) If we win 2, we clinch there. We'd have a 3.5 game lead coming home. actually not, because there would still be the possibility of the sox losing all three at home and the twins sweeping the royals, which would mean the sox have to play that game against detroit.
