White Sox @ Indians - Opening Day Game Thread
The Ginger Kid replied to Heads22's topic in 2008 Season in Review
was it last year that the indians had to play their games in Milwaukee because of bad weather? -
interesting note in the LA Times this morning. The '31 Yankees scored what is still a record 1067 runs...yet lost the pennant to Philadelphia, whose pitching staff had an ERA under 4. It was in a discussion about the Tigers, whom they don't see winning the division. They also argue that the white sox are the next SF Giants, who failed to rebuild and are destined to be one of the league's worst teams for some years to come.

Opening Day Starting lineup questions
The Ginger Kid replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
you mean you didn't like the way Juan struck out with a runner on 3rd and one out tonight? -
QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) Mark my words, Gavin Floyd will have a better season than John Danks. 12 wins, 4.50 ERA Floyd will be out of the rotation before June 1st.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:48 AM) Actually he's had a pretty good spring. yes, he and gavin floyd. If you believe the s*** coming out of Ozzie and Kenny. Which raises a good question: who is in line to take Floyd's place in May when ozzie finally says enough?

Where The Corn Is As High As Greg Walker's Eye...

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) It was his 1st bad outing in a while he had gotten his spring ERA under 5.00 which ,considering the bad start isnt too bad. Dotel's been sucking much worse lately. Sox go uneventfully in 8th against Robinson Tejeda. Hall and Anderson K while Ozuna PH'ing for Royce Huffman grounds out. he's a ticking time bomb -

QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Like how we were supposed to in 2006? Or the Tigers were supposed to last year? since we're speculating, the answer is yes. Westbrook's spring might be an anomaly, but if he's building on his great showing in the playoffs last season that rotation (to me) has the most potential in the league. -
Poreda, in about 5 months from now.

Is there a chance Crede's actually re-signed after the '08 cam

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) It is amazing how we see two different people. Joe is getting his timing back after being out almost a full season. There are others performing in ST at as low an average as Joe. There is absolutely no reason to criticize or minimize Joe Crede. I hope we do sign him and move Fields to IB or LF I might be the only one else on this board that agrees with you. -

Failed Dynasties: The 1993 White Sox

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) It's ironic, if anything. LaRussa sucked at baseball though too and he's turned out to be a hell of a manager. Ozzie did not suck as a shortstop. Not a great hitter, but an extremely good fielder. -
that's a real shame. Escobar is such a solid pitcher. Hope it doesn't end his career.

Frank was in his own galaxy at the plate. He could hit anyone, anytime. -
Who do you want starting in the last outfield spot?

QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) This is honestly the ideal situation for me....both Quentin and Anderson on the team with one of them starting every day... my ideal would be Owens in LF, Quentin in RF and BA in CF, Swisher at 1B. But I'm guessing I'll have to wait until August 1st. -
More Spring Games? Oh, The Horror!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) Uribe is not anything like awful - he's not as good as he was, but he's still pretty darn good. Ramirez is raw though, I'll give you that. i'm just basing it on the play today - although that's not very fair to do. They were awful together today, however. -

i pray that we never see uribe and ramirez playing the infield together. they're awful at the same time. -
everyone should take a deep breath. Crede's going to show the league he can still play, the Dodgers or Giants will be playing games that count and with a greater sense of urgency they'll re-visit a deal for Crede. This could work out very well for the Sox. Josh Fields is our 3B in the very near future and for years to come.
