More Spring Games? Oh, The Horror!
The Ginger Kid replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) Would you expect MB to be the kind of guy who would throw a teammate of his for 5+ years under the bus because of a surgery? no, nor would I expect him to give a vote of confidence either way if he didn't feel strongly about it. -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) I feel bad for Buehrle. He's gonna have an ugly W-L record this year with Crede/Uribe/Owens on this team. Now, I know W-L is absolutely meaningless, but if he ends up 10-14 to match a 3.60 ERA, I'll be extremely pissed. Funny that Mark would openly state his preference for Crede at 3B. -
that's two hot smashes that Crede has snared today.

sox are getting screwed on some atom balls

Westbrook now with a 0.00 ERA after 14 innings pitched this spring.

count has no control

Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Ova. Coulda won if we put an actual pitcher in the game. Floyd with a good outing though, encouraging even against a light hitting team. 6IP 6H 2ER 4k he pitched around some jams, which was nice to see. That curve is very effective against lefties. the fastball...not so much. -
Alexei = speed I love speed. This team desperately needs speed and athleticism. He brings both.

QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) Anyone else out there who doesn't really give a crap what they get for Crede? I want him traded. I want him traded now. f*** that. I want him starting. I want him starting now.

he's a bit raw, especially for his age. Hopefully some time in Charlotte with smooth things out. Kind of an old dog to learn new tricks, but he's got skills, that's for sure.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) Richar has a lot of catching up to do, but I have liked what I've seen these past two days. He didn't get any hits today except for that bunt, but he had a couple real good AB's. Plus, his defense is still superb. I think he is catching up and fast. I'd like to see Richar start at 2B. Have Ramirez just start at Charlotte at 2B, and have Uribe platoon with Richar and sub Cabrera until we can finally dump Uribe and replace him with Ramirez. My ideal opening day lineup: 1. Swisher LF (I hate using him in the one spot, but there aren't any better options. And if you count Owens you're crazy) 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF 6. Fields, 3B (this spot likely goes to Crede and KW will have Fields at AAA, which is freaking retarded) 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Anderson, CF (people know how I feel about him, but if my options are Owens and an injured Quentin, I gotta go with Anderson due to his defense) 9. Richar, 2B Why? He's having a great spring when he's in the lineup. Anderson's having a great spring too - would you discount his numbers like you're discounting Owens'?

Buehrle still is Opening Day Starter

what does ozzie mean by his decision to start javy was "based on my feelings"? -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Contreras' spring ERA is now the same as Floyd's and 0.25 higher than Vazquez who was going to be the opening day starter. I think its way too early to panic about him. given the differences in their performances for the last year, i tend to give Javy some slack. Floyd and Count, not so much.

count knocked around, Thornton dinged up, lineup anemic. not good, sox fans, not good.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) No third baseman? Or maybe Fields and Crede will both be out there, with a leg tied together. I am glad to see that Ramirez is getting such a long look. This just in, the Sox will indeed be playing with a third baseman today!

Here's hoping for another strong outing by Jose. Toby Hall making his spring debut. I actually liked what I saw from Armstrong. Still no JO... Ramirez 2b Cabrera SS Thome DH Kong 1B Swisher CF Dye RF Fields 3B Quentin LF Hall C

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) I'll agree with you on the NL/AL split, but I have to agree with him on the NLF West. Outside of San Francisco, that division is loaded with talent. I could hypothetically see the Padres competing if one or two of their reclamation projects (Prior?) turn out solid for them, but the other 3 teams are just stocked with ridiculous amounts of young talent. I think it's entirely possible that any of those 3 teams could step up this year and be good enough to hang with the best teams in the AL. is there any word on how prior is doing this spring?

Does anyone else find themselves watching the 05 post season DVD's as a way of getting psyched for the season? I have, and what's really striking to me is how many BIG breaks went the Sox way on their run. I guess you sort of forget. Not that they didn't play great or deserve the title, but damn, lady luck was definitely smiling on them. *The Graffanino boot that led to the go ahead 3-run dinger *AJ's infamous strike three that set up the winning hit *Dye awarded first on a foul ball that set up the slam by Kong Amazing
