QUOTE(daa84 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) everyone talks about brians secodn half....but am i the only one who thinks his second half still wasnt very good....i mean .257 .301 .393 still stinks..........im not sayin he won't be a good ballplayer, but i think people tend to overrate his second half... you are not alone. and people wanted ozzie to play him even more! ozzie did everything he could to protect BA during the first half and now Ozzie's his nemesis, if you believe what you read around here.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 05:27 AM) And that makes me appreciate the White Sox 2005 season all the more. Sure, the Tigers were a great story, but it doesn't look like it'll equate to more than one win in the ALDS, if they're lucky. I'm glad we got the whole job done last year. I'll never forget that. I agree. I'm sure Tiger fans are comforting themselves with the idea that they'll automatically be back next season. I never would've imagined that the Sox would be out of the playoffs this season after last. And I'll be Cleveland was counting on being there, too.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) You give Figgins one position to play and watch him explode. that's an interesting point. He does get moved all over the place. He's not bad at 3b but covers a ton of ground in the OF. And he can bunt!!

If the A's steal this first game it's over in 3, IMO. -

I'm predicting the Twins win game 1 and that's it. Johan can't pitch every game. -
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) LOL. What a choke job by the Tigers. They are gonna get crushed in the playoffs they really are pathetic. I see nothing to suggest that they will be any different in the playoffs than they were the last month of the season. Even the Sox showed signs of rejuvination last season once they clinched. The Tigers do have clutch hitting, but with no pitching, they are 3 and done.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) After watching the first 3 innings, I came to this conclusion: boy, did our starting LF and CF suck this year. In a game where we're playing basically our entire bench, Pods and Anderson are the worst players in our lineup. the pods era coming to a close... Nice pitching by Garland. Glad he's finishing the season with a quality start.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) He was never "reluctant" he just didn't jump for joy. The constant need to defend Brain Anderson. I just don't get it.

I'm just not impressed by Garza. Or Bonser for that matter. Minny's going three and out next week against NY. Book it. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) Fields and Sweeney have looked far more impressive than Anderson did during his first several weeks of major league experience. Both appear to have a sense of plate discipline. Anderson had it handed to him too fast, IMO. He didn't earn it. And his reluctance to go play winter ball after tanking so bad this season really leaves me in doubt about him.

trade Javy, not freddy. Let him have a good half with someone else. We need someone to have a good year. Freddy was never right coming off the WBC. Let him go home and harvest his crops, kick it, and come back strong.

what happened to Owens?

The Sox still have something to play FOR!!!!!

QUOTE(Tigers Fan @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) They need to take care of the Twins in that final series so we can take the Division, beat the A's, let the Twins take care of the yanks, Santana gets tired from pitching twice in that series, we beat the Twins, and then Murder the Mets and then set fire to cars so the whole country can make fun of Detroit again... As if they ever took a break.. the tigers are backing into the playoffs. why shouldn't they back into the division title too. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) It was surely frustrating, but at least we stayed in the race up until the last week and a half of the season. Indeed. They gave us something to root for (unlike Cleveland). Detroit threw the door WIDE OPEN for anyone to come in and the Sox couldn't capitalize. It's tough to swallow that .500 ball since August 1st would've locked up a playoff spot. But there could be a silver lining in all this if the Sox can use this depressing turn of events into the fuel to compete next year. I think it's funny that Cleveland's fans would throw the whole "choke" thing back at Ozzie. They were out of the race on May 1st.

Next year the twins and tigers will be the darlings of the division and get all the pub and hype. good. come back and get them next season. Don't let us down KW. We need a lead off hitter, two outfielders, a shortstop and some arms in the rotation and bullpen. Other than that, we're set!

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) In or out of the playoffs, leaving Garland in the game to give up 12 earned runs is absolutely inexcusable. screw that. He's paid handsomely to pitch. Sometime in late June this team took a weird turn and just never ever got it back on track. There will be a lot of people blaming this or that, but this was a team effort, from KW on down. I'm not mad, just disappointed. If you would've told me that 2 guys would hit over 40 dingers, two would hit over 30, I would've thought we were a lock. I still can't believe the Sox pitched so bad for so long.

Congrats to Detroit, they bent but did not break. Now I hope both they and the Twins play exactly three more games than the white sox this season. (bitter? who...me?)
