  1. Wow. Just wow. I feel bad for people who don't watch college football, or worse yet, prefer the NFL.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) Flynn gone.. Flynn back...
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 05:17 PM) Maybe the sound doesn't match up here, because the whistle, on our TV, sounded a split second after the snap. I'm also on an HD feed, so who knows. Anyways, this is crazy s***.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) That whistle sounded like it was a split second after the snap. Maybe in Iowa it was. I heard it live before the snap, easily.
  5. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) ESPNU is the worst thing ever invented. Big Ten Network says hi.
  6. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:39 AM) Press conference at noon today. I will watch. McDonough knows how to hire good people but this ain't the baseball business. What does he know about hockey? I guess we'll find out. He has all the right Chicago connections and can help raise the franchises profile but the obvious question is, what's the level of his interaction with the hockey people? Will he be telling Dale Tallon/Rick Dudley/Stan Bowman what to do ... interesting ... we'll see how it shakes out. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) He doesn't really need to know hockey to be a good President. He will hire people he trusts to give him the correct information, and I'm sure will keep DT around, I doubt he'll have much input over the on-ice product other than trusting those he puts into place. We're going to see a much bigger focus on marketing, and as you said he'll be most helpful in the Chicago aspect of the Chicago Blackhawks... Jim DeMaria and Tony Ommen can focus on the hockey aspect (and I'm sure those who he brings in)... Where this franchise is today... such a stark contrast from two seasons ago. You nailed it here Steve, he doesn't need to know hockey. If you can market well then you can market whatever, from hockey to baseball to hot dogs. It doesn't really matter. It's the ideas that are key and the interaction with customers in all types of ways. The Hawks are taking this town by storm, period.
  7. I wouldn't read a ton into it. The game has been in hand the entire time and we're playing everybody. No biggie. This team looked really solid tonight. Really nice to see. I will now go knock on wood for Brian Randle and his groin, like I do every night before bed.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) I definitely have the same issues. Here's some more: -The AI isn't the same with the computer's defense and your defense. This is similar to what you mentioned -- their corners will make ridiculously good reads on the ball, jump routes -- they do it all. I'm lucky if my cornerbacks attempt to bat the ball down. I'm stuck on defense. Giving up 25-40 points is actually good for me, as I can usually manage putting up 40+. Zone doesn't work -- they just find that spot underneath the safeties. Cover two? I never run cover two anymore because any time I try to, they just run a slant route 25 yards over the middle of the field. Man-to-man has been only slightly more successful, mainly because -- as I mentioned -- the computer AI for the human's defense is absolutely putrid. -The computer's defense seemingly makes a big hit on every f***ing pass play, usually jarring the ball loose for an incomplete pass, and it pisses me off that my safeties don't do the same thing. They always do that quick undercut of the legs immediately after my guy catches the ball, resulting in an incompletion. -I hate how the computer knows if you're going to run. For example, sometimes I'll have third and short and go goalline. I'll call for a play action and see that the computer is playing nickel despite the fact that I've stacked everyone inside. Or, perhaps a better example -- I'll split out four wide receivers with the intent of running a draw, only to see that the computer is playing 4-3. Come on, seriously -- I send four wideouts on the field and you're going to counter with a 4-3? Give me a break. I b**** so much about this game yet I always come back. I also understand that I'm Northwestern so in the end, my 5-3 record is actually quite realistic -- I shouldn't be 8-0. But it's how I got there -- I beat Ohio State at the Big House (on Heisman), yet lost to Eastern Michigan at home (got killed -- 52-17). Did the horse shoe burn down?
  9. I also like that you have Cabrera in the 2 hole.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) by less than the sorry ass big 10 schools lost to florida. Next question. Speaking of championship blowouts http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=250040030
  11. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) I wouldn't say he goes into a prevent D, but they do play a different style. The Defense stops playing I shortened your post, hope you don't mind
  12. We're well set up to get blasted Saturday in Detroit. Let's see if it happens.
  13. LMAO Eddie just said, and I f***ing quote, "a good point for the hawks" No, sorry, it's not, not even close. Don't just look at the fact that we got a late goal, that's ignoring everything that the 3rd period was.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) JagMo needs to see his name on a waiver wire, or maybe on a Rockford roster. Agreed, and Buf has been worse. He really can't stay up if his d zone coverage is this bad, he's been schooled tonight. That's why he couldn't stay up originally and now we're seeing the same things.
  15. Buff and MagJo have had a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE f***ing game. This is ridiculous
  16. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I'm praying for OT god f***
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I dunno, Krush, I think there was a distinct lift of the skate as the puck got to Fiddler. I agree that the Hawks need to regroup and take back this game, but I think that should've gotten overturned on review. I know what you are saying, but that's the reason they changed the rule, so you can do stuff like redirect it, move your skate so it can bank in off it, as long as you aren't kicking the puck into the net, basically soccer style. I really can't penalize a good backwards redirection, that's far from a kicking motion and i've never seen anything similar to that pulled back, so I would have been shocked if it had.
