QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) This has got to be the worst announced game I've ever heard. Every single play Clausen doesn't make, they say it was a good decision. Hell, if you want good decisions made by throwing every pass away, put me in the game. I'll run around and throw it out of the end zone. For a true freshman on the road against one hell of a defense, he hasn't looked terrible and has actually made some good decisions. He's far away from having a good game, but I understand what Blackledge is saying. Patrick and Vitale, they need a mute button. Oh, and he has no offensive line. -

QUOTE(Shadows @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) Well actually, there was a flag thrown for roughing the passer so regardless of what happened with the mix up on the call it was still going to remain Fresnos ball I'm aware, as that was in my post. -

f***ed up Fresno St/A&M ending. AM up 3, Fresno advances it towards the end zone. Guy fumbles it on the one, into the end zone, AM recovers. They rule out of bounds. Under review...comes back call on field stands. Ref goes back a minute later, gets on the headset, somehow reverses the call (which appeared to be the right call), i don't see how that's possible. So game over, right? Nope, there was a roughing the passer penalty on the play. Now they are back on the headset. Pat Hill is now all the way over on the AM side b****ing at the refs. After all is said and done, 1st and 10 from the 12 for Fresno. -

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) ESPN talks about Appy. St. like they are just some s***ty 1-AA school. Appy is a very very good team and they should be getting more respect. HOT HOT HOT! But Michigan shouldn't have lost that game, but i'm glad they did. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) Finally sucked it up and watch the game since I taped it. Appy State is f*cking good. They could beat a lot of D1 schools. Very fast and touch to tackle. So which one of you is the real Lou Holtz? -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) Thanks for backing me. I actually was using his overall record all along. Which is why I said he should have an extension. Backing you? I'd love to know how.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) ...and I enjoy seeing the sox win games instead of losing them regardless of what the situation is. Also, what is the difference in signing bonus between a #2 and a #6? What can we do with that money to improve our minor league system as well? I get absolutely zero joy out of sox games right now regardless of who's winning or who's losing. To each his own. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) I don't get it, people like different types of music, just because someone isn't a fan of his music doesn't mean he's not getting a fair shake. Sexy back is a terrible song regardless of who's singing it. It's one of the few songs that will make me switch the radio station ASAP.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) I still don't understand how a "fan" would encourage losing because of some crapshoot draft. Success in the MLB draft results a s***LOAD more in scouting and the philosophy of the minor league system over something as silly as a draft position in a 60+round draft. Hell, these days most of the great MLB players aren't even drafted. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Wrong. The Sox need a new philosohy and better scouting. That will pay off much greater dividends than a single pick. I'd much rather spend $4 million on scouts instead of a hyped up high schooler or college kid. Agreed? You are completely missing the point. We're comparing winning meaningless games vs a better draft pick. This has nothing to do with philosophy, coaching, etc. -
**Clears throat** DETROIT SUCKS Ok, I'm good to go

That was really cool. I'd kill for something like that on the Chicago Stadium.

I want whatever helps us win the world series, the goal for every season. So this season's over... Wins this year does absolutely nothing. A higher draft pick really could help us. Not a guarantee, but it actually could help. The answer is easy. -
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) And win or lose, the Sox have never had anyone as entertaining, fun and forthright as Ozzie. Who has? WTF does this even mean? I want a manager to win ball games, I could care less how many f bombs or racial slurs he fits into his post game press conference. Unless 'fun and entertaining' wins ball games, it's irrelevant.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) Once again, a contract extension takes into consideration your career and track record as a manager, during both contract extensions I compared the manager's record. Wedge had ONE season of above .500 ball, Ozzie has a ring, 90 wins seasons and one horrible year which is basically 98 percent the players fault. You sure want it both ways, don't you? Bad record, GM/players fault all the way. Good record, WS, totally the manager. How about evaluating him based on more than a record? In game moves, handling of players, lineups, bullpens, etc. This broad stuff is such bulls***, I'm so sick of the ring argument. He has had a terrible year along with everyone else, he is not the flower in a bed of weeds.

QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) eh, we had some weird calls yesterday. Like when mcgee goes to call time out, doesn't get it, oh, and also, play clock had expired, refs don't call that either, then the pass for 20 yards. Then Chase's non fumble fumble. A silly pass interference penalty. Oh well, jeremy macklin's a stud and our two TE's are still friggen awesome. I just hope we can outscore everyone and never have to punt with the worlds worst punter™. Also pinkel still makes so many dumb game time decisions. They never had any angle that showed his arm was for sure going forward along with the ball, I honestly thought they got that right. Of course Mizzou and Illini fans are gonna see that play differently, though. -
I didn't, it was too childish. The one they used a few years ago with the Gladiator music and all the different war quotes was much better.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) I think the crowd will be about 75% Iowa fans fwiw. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) Ya...it shouldn't be a shocker, Iowa travels amazingly well. I still remember someone on here saying it would only be 60/40 (not you rock) but I'd say 80/20 though (based on crowd noise and what my cousin who was at the game mentioned to me). BTW Jason, our Irish are going to have a really, really, really long year. Don't know if you saw any of the game. -
