  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) comcast blows. Whenever i get my own place again in the suburbs, I'll be going to an alternative. I've had nothing but problems with my digital cable and cable internet this summer. I said this for like 4-5 months (about 15 calls), and since one guy finally found the real problem and found a solution, i haven't had to call them in the past 4-5 months. So who knows, could be a lot of factors.
  2. I'll start up this thread with this little nugget, per Eklund (Keith knows who i'm talking about):
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) I wish I were wrong, but college sports and recruiting are the one thing I actually know what I'm talking about and have sources in. And those sources have never led you down the wrong path...cmon 101
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 02:21 AM) WANNA BE MY FRIEND?!?!?!?!? Yeah, facebook me
  5. What's this "My friends" thing?
  6. Vince Okruch, our DC, is taking a leave of absence for personal reasons: http://www.news-gazette.com/blogs/fourthan..._personal_leave Hope things turn out OK, whatever it is This certainly doesn't help the on-field success of the team after a very nice showing by the D last year.
  7. I'm liking Detroit as the home opener. As far as the out of conference games go, this is what we have this year: Home: Atlanta Tampa Bay Florida Carolina Washington Away: Toronto Boston Buffalo Ottawa Montreal Some sweet road dates there, 3 O6 teams and then the 2 eastern conference finalists. The start to this schedule is pretty tough, @ Min, Det, SJ, @ Det, Dal
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Mr. Krush, have you umped any Williamsport games yet? I gotta tell you, in the couple games I have worked so far, those kids you see on TV look like professional ballplayers in compairison. I realize these have been opening round preliminary baseball, but, the level of play is really quite poor...hopefully I'll get some talent in the later rounds. Nah, I haven't. The big thing my association has is the CABA World Series, which has teams from across the nation (and a few international teams) at ages 9/11/15. I imagine as your tournament goes on the talent will get better, but I know what you mean.
  9. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Not sure if it was just me, but I thought he lined up kinda funny. Like he always lined up over the inside corner of the plate instead of the center of the plate. I think that's why his outside corner calls were a bit inconsistent, but over all I thought he did a pretty good job. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=cws Go to sights and sounds and click Vazquez strikes out 8. You can kinda see it there. I didn't see the game yesterday, but lining up over the inside corner is known as working "the slot." You never line up on the middle of the plate, you don't want to be looking directly over the catcher. Of course with this the outside corner is harder to see than the inside corner, but that's how it goes.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) At times, I just hate Sox fans. I'm listening to this AWFUL show on the Score where Offman is having a fantasy GM segment where retarded callers pitch their ridiculous trade proposals. My 2 favorite: Uribe, Crede and Vazquez for Ichiro and Luis Castillo and Jon Garland for Chone Figgins (caller: "I'm not sure the Angels would do it") honorable mention goes to the most menial of them all: Iguchi and Hall for Miguel Olivo (apparently the Marlins need a 2B) I heard the exact same stuff in the car. The Ichiro trade finally got me to throw some music on.
  11. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) There's only one organization that really knows how to piss off their fanbase, and I'm a part of it. You lose x 100. LOL.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) As far as the non 'top' guys, Simon Danis-Pepin, the 6"7 defensman, was very impressive starting a couple of rushes and just exuding a lot of confidence when he had the puck. He challenged forecheckers with the puck and really didn't seem to have any problems skating right around 'em. Same thing I saw on Thursday, Keith. He seems to have put on some muscle, and he is less "awkward" than he was last year, both with the puck and skating in general. He had some decent puckhandling skills and better passing than last year. If he can combine that type of game with a physical game back in his own ends, he could easily contribute at the NHL level in a few years.
  13. 32 runs today All of them are the umpires' fault...well that and all the duck snorts.
  14. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) I have no problem with him coming out to pitch the 7th, but he clearly needed to be pulled after the 2nd hit. His velocity was down and he was becoming very hittable. Hindsight is 20/20. If he goes out and pitches a 1-2-3, everyone is praising Ozzie for leaving him in. He had retired 11 straight before giving up the leadoff double to Huff, so with the DH tomorrow, no biggie. I'd agree with this after 2 hits. He just seemed really out of gas at that point, I guess Ozzie really let him have a big leash with that big of a lead. Ah well.
  15. Was at the scrimmage today - Team Kane/Toews won 6-2 IIRC, and they each had 2 goals. Toews simply amazing again, he's a man among boys out there. Great skating, great vision, great passing. Cannot wait to watch him for 82 games this year. There's really not much more to say about him. Believe the hype is all I'm going to say. And yes, I realize he's playing against prospects out there, but I've seen him play many other times against better competition with the same results. When he and Kane were out there they dominated puck possession. Kane isn't as small as I'd thought he'd be, he basically looks like Vrbata out there size wise I guess. His skating seemed to be good but not great like Toews, but he sure has some good hands and is surprisingly tough down in the corners and behind the net. Similar to Crosby's ability to keep the puck down low...small guy and all. Kane's goals were both breakways. One of Toews goal was a sick power wraparound move. It'd be cool to see them on the same line this year. Also, there had to be 200+ people there which was pretty cool. Most surprising thing of the day: 2 people were getting Wirtz's autograph as the scrimmage ended. -------------------------------- Also a nice snippet from Tim Sassone's column at the Daily Herald: My thoughts exactly.
  16. The real question is would he have made the same decision if there wasn't a DH tomorrow
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) I can't wait for Alex to erase Bonds.
  18. You know that slow motion Dye commercial with all the stats? I'm starting to think it's in real speed.
  19. Just think Dick Allen, Tonight's 9 inning, one run performance by Javy could be turned into like 8 or 9 saves!!!!!!! Damn, another "average" start tonight by Javy. Time for someone to take the ball from him.
  20. How the hell has Noah NEVER been to a baseball game in his life? That's hard to do.
  21. Someone in the 670 chat named it the "Cesar Salad" Works for me
  22. You don't play Kane nor Sharp on the 4th.
