i think it was Joe asking Jim McMahon if he still talks to pete rozelle, not positive though Those interviews are horrible, they show the booth half the time with almost no commentary on the game.

I love Pete Rose. He belongs in the HOF and he can manage my team any day...................to those who think he hasnt been "punished", you are totally blind. He has been punished for years. putting him into the hall of fame would instantly take away all "punishment" he's ever received you need a punishment that fits the crime. being banned from the hall and baseball fits the crime of damaging the integrity of the game by gambling on it. period

right now mac jurko and harry's whole show is just about ripping on the cubs 7th inning stretch bullcrap with the horrible, and i mean HORRIBLE interviews afterwards. i love it

Heather, every single person who plays, coaches or is in anyway involved in the game of baseball (trainers, umpires, etc.) are very well aware of the rule against gambling. There is a very large poster posted in every Major and Minor League clubhouse every year, all year. MLB has speakers come in during Spring Training and lecture everyone on gambling policies and the penalties for violation of it. There is NO way possible for Pete Rose to not have known gambling is against baseball rules and NO way possible for him not to have known the penalties. Pete CHOSE to do what he did. For him to lie about it the past 15 years is basically spitting in the face of the game of baseball. For him to ask to be reinstated without coming clean about his actions, would be like saying "f*** You to and laughing at" a boss who just re-hired you and gave you a second chance. There is a major difference in gambling, a crime against the game, than a crime against society (drug use, etc.). As soon as fans begin to question whether the outcome of the game could be fixed, the game could come crumbling down. Even the perception of that possibillity could be enough to cripple the game. As bad as other situations damage the image of the game, gambling is the one thing that could bring down the game itself, rather than just give it a black eye. If baseball lets Pete Rose back in under the conditions of the prospectus article, then they are basically telling every player that plays the game today that it is OKAY to gamble and bet on the game. It is a precedent baseball cannot allow. Excellent In particular i support your view on the difference between a crime against the game and a crime against society If they let Rose in, they open the doors to a whole lot of bulls*** they will have to deal with for years to come

Really though, they don't suck. Everyone blows calls, it'll happen How many times do you sit there and go "ah he was safe" and then they show the slowest of slo mo replays and you can see he was in fact out They do a pretty solid job, and it's not an easy job to do. Hell i ump 12-14 year old travel games and those aren't the easiest things to do. I'm sure it'd be easier if there were 4 people instead of just myself the majority of the time, though

On a simliar note, my freshman global studies teacher always put 1-2 questions about the last night's Indians playoff game on each short quiz, and i nailed each of em every time, it was great. Get a 3/5 on the quiz, but get the two baseball questions, and get a perfect score.

Don't go there, the place is ridiculous and way too big. I had to do some shopping for stuff for my apartment and just couldn't stand it. Too much of everything and way too many decisions to make on every piece of furnishing known to man I think it's just wrong when you have to choose from about 30 chairs for a desk, many with weird designs. Or a lamp for our front room? 15 choices? I think i said to my mom at one point "what are they trying to do here, reinvent the wheel?" And that about sums up my thoughts on what they've done. Another quote was "sometimes i wish i lived in the 1950's" For a guy it really tests your patience because it's so big and there's so many options. Keep it simple and don't make me make so many decisions, i hate shopping to begin with even when it's for myself.
