I can criticize it all i want, look how it turned out Do you think the Sox lost the deal though? Their guy never pitched while Brian Simmons and Kevin Beirne left the Blue Jays organization and never did anything for them. I'd say it was a deal that didn't pan out for either team, but no one lost the trade. I'd make that trade everytime too. While they didn't necessarily truly "lose" the deal, it ruined their season. It was a high risk move with Wells, if he would have made another move for a different pitcher, who knows what happens.

That's pathetic Why? I can't bear to watch hockey, so naturally I pay no attention to it whatsoever. Combine the fact I could care less about the NHL and the fact that once February rolls around I get ready for baseball, hockey is about as important to me as the company that produces the light switch in my room. It is fun to play, however. If you actually don't know that the hockey playoffs are going on you are a pretty pathetic sports fan Or maybe it means I don't give a flying f*** about hockey. Hockey is about as exciting to watch as curling and golf. Riiiight, doublem, right. You are defininitely not well rounded sports fan if you don't even know they are taking place. Hell i know when nascar and golf stuff is going on and i really don't pay attention to them. Ever watch sportscenter in your life? Who said I wanted to be a "well-rounded" sports fan? I don't watch SportsCenter that much at school because usually there's other crap to do besides watch TV. I do try and catch Baseball Tonight as often as possible. You have to be living under a rock to not know when 2 months of nhl playoffs is going on

The first time i saw that i laughed out loud for a good minute or so, it's freakin hilarious. So unexpected...gotta love those SC commercials.

Kind of hard to have extra innings in my dorm room You guys can't get MLB Extra Innings in your dorm? I don't have it, but that's just because I don't have the money to pay for everything I would need, however, I'm pretty sure if I was willing to buck up, I could get it. It'd probly be ridiculous to try to hook up a dish for the one year that i'm here and run the wiring only to my room and stuff...i bet they wouldn't allow it anyway. And i'm not gonna get extra innings for the month and a half i'm here
-
Alright i'll have to give that a whirl. I'm relatively new here so i've never been in one of these chats.

What was so odd about those commercials is that half the time Manuel himself didn't bring his "A game" No wonder we lost so many games....other teams and managers brought their A games and Manuel was too busy bringing his C game
-
Half the guys on this list you wouldn't be able to trade him for.... Like, i'd trade him for Ibanez or Dunn in a millisecond but the other team wouldn't do that anyway
-
anyone else mention DAVID WELLS yet?

If you actually don't know that the hockey playoffs are going on you are a pretty pathetic sports fan The comment of not knowing if hockey is being played, I was being a little sarcastic..but other than that I can give a flying f*** if hockey is being played..its on my list of the three "sports" that if I had the choice of watching, or having my balls kicked in by a Clydesdale I'd take the latter Although hockey is the least worst of the three..its in front of Golf, and nascar.. You are just a big moron, and there's no way you'd take the latter over hockey so quit saying such stupid s***, the NBA sucks

That would be really stupid to force a team to use all of it's pitchers, it is fine in that sence the way it is. You throw out your aces, and go as far as they take you...it was beautiful in 2001 watching Johnson and Schilling single handedly win the World Series. I would love to see that happen, but as Kochthis explained, it just wouldn't be a good plan for baseball...too many teams would be out of the races by late summer. Plus one could argue that whoever gets placed in the East is instantly screwed because of the Yankees, as for the West, exciting baseball...White Sox, A's, Twins, Mariners, Angels all in the same division. No, upsets are great, one could argue that the Yankees could have beaten the angels in a 7 game series last year, afterall they had won three in a row vs. the A's in 2001. As for the twins and the A's, the Twins had to face Zito, Mulder, Hudson in the ALDS. If the series was 7 games, they still would have faced Zito Mulder Hudson, so if they won in a 5, who is to say they would not have beaten them in a 7 No, that's not the nature of the game. All year you have to use 5 starting pitchers, yet playoffs, well, use 2-3. There's no other sport where you can not use the players that got you to the playoffs It changes the outlook of a team in the time the regular season ends til the time the playoffs start, yet they made no moves to their roster

Twice in the same week the evil "U" has to televise the game preventing me from viewing the game yet again down here in champaign. Can we get rid of these damn U games? Ugh. And even when i'm home, the broadcasts suck, it sounds like Hawk and DJ are in a phone booth. I could get better audio and video with my own camcorder. Will have to settle for watching the Pirates game today i guess.

Kings will beat em this year, if the Spurs don't take care of them first
-
The best option would be to just go back to the 2-division format and only have 1 LCS, but that wouldn't generate enough money. No, there needs to be more than 4 out of 30 teams in the playoffs. Look at how tight the competition is. And look who won the world series last year. With 4 teams there'd be even more teams out of the race by july and august and the interest in baseball would dwindle. It's more exciting with 8 teams, and it's still nowhere near 16 of nhl and nba. Baseball still has a low number of teams in that manner. I know 16 in baseball isn't possible, but 8 isn't really that high considering everything.

It doesn't matter how many games there are. When they are played like every other day, you can get away with 2-3 pitchers. It's the one thing that bugs me about baseball. You have to use 5 pitchers all year to win games, yet in the playoffs you can completely mask them if that's your weakness. Arz could have complete s*** in the 3-5 spots and get away with it in the playoffs. Ideally i'd love a one week 7 game series where you have to use all your pitchers, just like during the season.

Bobby Valentine can throw 96 mph according to the bbtn commericals too....
-
One thing's for sure, anything beats those commercials with royce clayton and carlos lee dancing to caribbean music. I mean get real. These new ones have a presence to them, i like them.
-
I like Bobby V quite a bit now that he's not in a Mets uniform. In regards to the hat, its a thing lefties do. And pokey reese

This has a gayness factor of 100%. Wow, what a bunch of morons

Glad someone caught that! Although as you know it was really Sal Bando - I didn't have much to work with there! For those with opinions on rap and 8 Mile and Eminem - what is the point of the obsessive need to keep pointing out (in the baseball forum yet) what you don't like? One of my best friends like Andrea Bocelli, another likes GM cars, and another likes Wendy's, and I have never felt the need to tell any of them that I think their opinions suck. Why go out of your way to criticize what someone else likes? Why the need? For the record, I think Eminem is genius and I loved the movie, and I also like 50¢, D12, and Ludacris, and rap as a genre, prefer East Coast to West coast and gansta to thug and cried when Lisa Lopes died. And two days before I see the All Star game I am seeing Em in concert with 50¢ and Missy Elliott and if anyone thinks that is a s*** concert, then, f***ing don't go! I also have seasons tickets to the Lyric Opera and prefer Mozart to Wagner, am still making up my mind on Berlioz, and developing an affection for Handel's baroque operas, and of course I like Verdi and Puccini. Anyone have an opinion on that you are dying to share? I prefer briefs to boxers, actually lo rise briefs because I exercise and have the body for it, hate neck ties and love oversized shirts. I love chinese fried rice, soy-based chocolate frozen dessert, and strawberries. My favorite Beatle was George, my favorite Who was Roger Daltry and my favorite Rolling Stone was Brian Jones and Ginger Baker is the best drummer I ever saw. My favorite Mesopotamian folk tale is Gilgamesh and in ancient Greek plays, I prefer Aristophanes to Sophocles for light evening fare but you have to give Euripides his due. Now, I shall await the opinions on all those things too, and maybe I will return the favor with sarcatsic comments on everyone else's avatars and signatures (gothic is so overdone to death, guys...) and their favorite things. And anyone who thought 8 Mile sucks, sucks big time, sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks. And CLee!!!! Way to go!!!! Without looking it up, 6 career grand slams - some of which have made my days very happy - makes him 2nd on the all time Sox list to Ventura's 10 and I think Karkovice is 3rd with 5. Now maybe I am wrong and someone can look that up and we can talk baseball again! Didn't know we couldn't joke on this board

Me neither, but hockey sucks so it's OK If saying useless s*** like that makes you guys feel good about yourselves, go for it. Agreed. Have a f***in field day with that
