Like i said, he could catch popups with the best of em, but after that...

Overrated? By whom, sox fans? In order to be overrated you have to be overrated across the nation...and i don't see that at all
-
I'm not as worried about Konerko's health as the rest of you are, or as i am about some other players on the team at this point. I think he'll be fine, i wouldn't label him injury prone quite yet.
-
Whatever the case, i got screwed last year, along with plenty of other people...MAYBE they will open a half hour early, but big deal, when you have people in front of you buying 15 games and parkin passes, that's not that many people getting through the line by 10...the sox need to review their policy and have tix at comiskey go on sale at least 2 hours before online and phone, to reward the fans that show up at the park.

Okgoh, are you kidding me? Best fielding 2nd baseman of our era? What, cuz he could run down a fly ball? I'll give him that, but man, there were PLENTY of muffed groundball and more than his share of defensive lapses, for sure. Pretty good fielding 2nd baseman, ya, but not THAT great.

The things that Baseball Prospectus does with statistics is amazing...it gives you the true value of a player in every possible way. However they do have articles on their website about pitcher abuse and other issues concerning the game, some of them don't always incorporate stats. But BP has some insight that sporting news just can't offer.

SN Report: Minoso's Hall of Fame Bid Denied
IlliniKrush replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sorry, but put Santo in the Hall already, this coming from a Sox fan. And no, it has nothing to do with his diabetes. He should be in there, period. -
My reasonable logic involves talent, and we have more of it. There's the logic. I never said the Twins were a bad baseball team, i just think it's our division because we now have more talent. And i'm not alone, go read the so called experts out there, the majority are picking the Sox.

For those of you unfamiliar with Baseball Prospectus, it's the bible of baseball basically, and here's the final paragraph from the 2 page article on them. I can go into more detail if people wish. "To ice the division for the next couple of seasons, the Sox will have to quickly address the needs as they occur - a function most teams execute on the trade market. If Kenny Williams deals more talent for pennies on the dollar, the White Sox will fail. If he simply refuses any calls from Billy Beane or Dave Littlefield, the organization has a good chance to succeed just based on its in-house talent. If, by some strange development, Williams suddenly realizes what it takes to make a good trade - and it's the only thing he's missing as a general manger, because he's respected, well-liked, and looks great in a suit - the Sox have the resources to start a mini-dynasty. This club will go as far as their front office's abbility to avoid being abused in trades develops." I couldn't agree more. Let's just hope Kenny Williams gets a clue on trading, as it will probably be addressed hopefully at the trade deadling to get a missing piece or two. That really put things in perspective for me. It seems like such a simple task, and it really isn't all that hard...if that's the only thing preventing us from a mini dynasty, wow B)

Hahahaha. That's priceless.....lol Heather but that's good

Bartolo Colon won 20 games last year Any questions? Anyway, new team this year, no doubt. If you think this is the same team, you are sorely mistaken. Bye bye april god lofton, can't field a ground ball durham, hit with chopsticks clayton, and i'm not jon lieber todd ritchie. Hello d'angelo jimenez, joe crede, bartolo colon, billy koch, willie harris, to name a few and the most important. Oh and bye bye david ortiz from the twins. What did they do over the offseason? Next to nothing. All i'm saying is that "hands down" is a bold and incorrect statement. And in my opinion, trying to be unbiased, it's the Sox division for the taking, period. This team is more talented than the Twins this year. Anything less than an AL central title is a disappointment in my eyes, and i highly doubt i'm alone.

Of Note: It DOES NOT pay to wait at comiskey, UNLESS you are one of the first 15-20 in each line. Last year was a joke. I decided hell i'll go down there and kill two birds with one stone, pick up hawks playoff tickets and sox tickets without the handling charges, etc. But the Sox don't reward their fans for waiting outside. You see, the Cubs put their tickets on sale to people at Wrigley 2 hours before they go on sale via internet and phone. For the Sox, it's all the same. Last year i was there at about 830, got in line. By the time i got within 10 people of the window, all the cubs/sox games and opening day were sold out. My uncle talks to me later that day, he rolled out of bed at about 9:55, got online, while sipping on a coffee while i'm in the freezing cold, and ordered tickets to all 3 cubs/sox game and a select few other games. Anyone who went down last year and wasn't there really really early got suckered, because the people online got a crack at tickets before people like me did. And if i remember correctly last year, the computers at comiskey were malfunctioning, and tickets actually went on sale AFTER 10 am. What a joke that was. My recommendation: Unless you go real early, and i'm talking like 4 am or something, stay home and use the internet, no doubt.

DoubleM, the twins are the favorites hands down? Are you kidding me? Without a doubt, the White Sox have the talent edge, and that right there negates the hands down advantage you claim the Twins have, even if they have better team chemistry, and play in a dome where only they can see the fly balls, etc. Garland and Wright have nowhere to go but up, it's not like they were over their heads last year. They took their bumps along the way for sure.

Doesn't it cost somewhere around 10 bucks for the whole season's radio broadcasts @ mlb.com?

Take it easy on freshman...although i'm in college, you're the sucker still in high school
-
I think Alomar is well suited to be a pinch hitter in the late innings and just as a mentor to Olivo...he really has no business playing more than a handful of games per month, he has no upside anymore, Olivo has boatloads of potential.

Gotta get back into the mode of checking boxscores like it's my job til baseball tonight starts up again
-
I don't know what that says about Heather exactly...
-
Heather, how would you know...?
-
Good thing we get the score for all our blackhawks hockey needs featuring Mike North, "mr. hockey"
-
Soxfest, don't bank on that buddy. It could happen, but not 100% going to happen.
-
The Score comes in as clear as a bell, espn 1000 is a lot more fuzzy, but still workable, i checked it right now again and it's fine if you can deal with some static.
-
I wonder if heather has a Sox bra similar to the Hawks one she has...that might entice Carlos to stay a few extra days. And heather, why are we going 7 games, i want a sweep damn it!

From baseball prospectus, daubach's breakout rate (chance of 20% or more increase in performance, improvement rate (chance he'll improve at all in numbers), and collapse rate (chance he'll suffer 20% or more in performance): Breakout: 5% Improvement: 36% Collapse:28% (pretty high) Baseball prospectus also predicts his numbers for this year being .254 average, .336 obp, and .453 slugging, with 15 hr's in 349 at bats. That's seems fine. His defensive rating at 1b and lf was a -1. That's slightly under average.
