The problem with Wunsch is that he's only a lefty specialist...you basically use him on one batter. While he's effective against that one batter, he doesn't help eat up any innings if the bullpen is tired or had to be used ealry in the game. It's almost a waste of a bullpen spot...you could only hope one of the other relievers could get out the big lefty bat...possibly Marte.

For one Wirtz will die before he sells i think Anyone else catch that great Bulls performance against the powerhouse Grizzlies last night? Didn't watch it, but didn't need to. Bulls win one game and everyone acts like they are playoff bound.

I had allstar baseball last year, it's alright. However, EA Sports started from scratch this year to create MVP Baseball...ditching the old and crappy Triple Play. It's supposed to have a pretty damn cool franchise mode, and the batting/pitching interface is supposed to be the best aspect of the game. A few other things...you can simulate games by inning and jump in at any time to preserve a lead or try to catch up...and the baserunning is supposed to be a lot easier, you can actually see the players on the screen instead of having them be just little dots on a diamond. Pitching is supposed to be better, you actually pick how well you want to execute a pitch, and the higher you plan to execute it, the lower the margin of error you have to work with. I'm probly gonna go get the game this weekend, i'll let you all know how it plays.

I think it's a good move for Minne just because it brings in a guy who can eat some innings. With Milton already out, and Radke and Mays, and possibly Reed all with the possibility of being injured, they need someone who can be an anchor in that staff...that doesn't mean ace, either. This now moves Santana back to the pen...he'ls gonna eventually crack the rotation this year, just don't know when. I also read something, i think at sporting news, that had a scout saying his motion is really flawed and will eventually lead to elbow problems if he doesn't correct it. Just something to keep an eye on.

You shouldn't want Griffey just because the chance of him playing more than 100 games is probly 50%...and he's old I have liked what i've seen and heard about Daubach so far.... This Wright injury is really bugging me...i'm just hoping it takes care of itself somehow and he takes the ball on the 4th day...i don't like putting 2 of heredia, loaiza, rauch, and stewart into the rotation. I'd be up for signing Finley or Rogers, in that order. We could use the extra arm to eat up some innings, and even if Wright does come back right away, it's not like that creates a problem. A 2nd lefty in the rotation is money and the guaranteed innings is a huge plus.

Not much pitching behind Halladay. CORY LIDLE!!!

Price wasn't much of a true #2 to Moulds...you could even say he was the #1 at certain times in the season probly. I think he'll adjust fine...however, i think the Bills will not...Moulds and Price made Bledsoe, not the other way around, in my opinion. Finally vick doesn't have to turn people with the talent of myself (finneran) into good receivers.

Green Hats everywhere...at least it was entertaining

I don't like how Sandy is named the starting catcher before spring training starts...what is that crap? Let them battle it out, as everyone else is supposed to do. And it's not like Alomar is some proven all star. If anything, he's certainly declining while Olivo is on the way up, so let's see what they've both got in this point in time. What if Alomar hits .150 in spring and Olivo hits .350? Is Alomar still your catcher?
-
Exactly, we do not NEED a third catcher. A veteran and a rookie are enough to keep us going. Hopefully, its gonna be Rios, Graffanino, Daubach, Alomar, and Harris/Miles. An extra infielder is alot more useful than a catcher thats gonna catch probably once every two weeks. It could be Olivo with the bench spot...Alomar might start if he's healthy and Olivo doesn't show Manuel enough. But yeah, having a 3rd catcher would be a waste of a bench spot for sure...it's not even like he's a good pinch hitter or anything...it's not worth it.

Josh Stewart has looked decent, i want to see more of him obviously

Like i said, i'd love to have kordell stewart here....AS A PUNT RETURNER. GOD DAMN DON'T TOUCH THIS GUY AS A QB, HE'S TERRIBLE!!!!!
-
They aren't the worst team overall in the NHL
-
He might very well retire after this year.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0308/1520442.html As i predicted earlier, a Twins starter goes on the shelf early. Santana takin the ball every 5th day now probly.

Let's just worry about winning the divison first. Heather's too busy still dreaming about the Hawks winning the Cup. Note to heather: You have to make the playoffs to win the Cup...i think.....put butter on the hawks, they are toast.
-
I'm for signing Kordell Stewart....but only as a punt returner...any one of you that wants Kordell Stewart quarterbacking this team, put down the pipe....he's god awful

Did anyone else read how the Orioles offered Sidney Ponson for Magglio Ordonez? Are you kidding me? I don't want Ponson, he was supposed to a phenom but hasn't reached s*** for potential, there's no way i give up Lee for him, we don't need another #3 or #4 pitcher

David Wells got nailed by a batted ball yesterday, and was down, and then later he fielded a ball and threw it into centerfield, i was laughing pretty hard. The guy is a joke, i'm surprised Steinbrenner puts up with such crap on his team.
-
There's no way you keep 3 catchers, one being Paul, and send Daubach down. Daubach can play a huge role on this team, get some starts, and is a better pinch hitter than alomar could be. I don't like the idea of having three catchers at all. If alomar gets hurt, then bring up Paul, that simple. Paul isn't all that great and sitting him on the bench isn't gonna do him any good

I'm callin the clayton 3-3 day

the "tie goes to the runner" thing pisses me off. The ball has to beat the guy to the bag, plain and simple. It's not like one day the rule makers sat down and said "hey, what if there's a tie" and they flipped a coin and decided it'd go to the runner. I like to think that when i hit the bag at the exact same time the throw gets there i "beat" the ball to the bag. I think that makes sense.

No matter how good someone is in their first season, I always say "Come talk to me after his 2nd season and I'll give you my opinion of him." Mark Prior is no different. Come back after 2003 and tell me that he's better than Mark Buehrle. Because Buehrle definitely passed the "sophomore test" -- will Prior? Only time will tell. I'm not going anywhere. Another point i'd like to make is this: if he came out of nowhere to flash stuff like he did last season, that's one thing. I'd be A LOT more skeptical. He did it at USC for a few years also, where he was just lights out. I don't see a kid like Prior having the proverbial sophomore slump, but we'll see.

Ya, chisoxfn, i agree with you about the whole seeing him in person thing. I was there for his debut and probly another few live, and going down to the pen and watching him warmup, it just amazes you. His stuff is not only filthy...it's that he has pinpoint control and a flawless motion. You could argue right now that he has one of the top deliveries in baseball, and he's a rookie. Only time will tell, but my eyes tell me this kid's gonna be good.
