  2. I was just thinking about how alot of network T.V. stations don't have the great shows that they used too. Then I realized that most of the great T.V. shows that are on now are on cable(FX, HBO). Fox is really the only network that shows any good shows, and that only happens on Sunday. Although I could point to one good show on every network, no one, aside from the cable channels I mentioned, has a solid lineup. Anyway what are your favorite channels and T.V. shows? Favorite Channels 1. HBO 2. FX 3. ShowTime 4. Fox 5. NBC Favorite Shows 1. Entourage 2. Rescue Me 3. Curb Your Enthusiasm 4. Starved 5. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia 6. The Office: An American Workplace 7. Weeds 8. The Sopranos 9. The Sheild 10. Deadwood
  3. The new BBC comedy "Extras" will be heading to HBO. "Extras" is the comedy created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the geniuses behind the original Office series. The first episode will be on September 25th. If you haven't seen The Office yet, do so. I myself am an avid fan and am very excited about the news. I'm sure it will be a great addition to an already suberb collection of HBO shows. HBO has a knack for finding great shows to put on the air(Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos) so I'm sure this will be just as good, if not better.
  4. I was watching Miracle today and was thinking about the greatest calls of all time. I would have to say that "Do you believe in miracles?" has to be the greatest call of all time. It's so pure and shows so much raw emotion. Another one of my favorites is "I don't believe what I just saw!" when Kirk Gibson hit the game winning home run in the WS. It may not be one of the best but it will remain one of my favorites. What other calls do you think deserve "Greatest of All- Time" status?
  5. Any info on the possible Griffey trade? I was just on ESPN.com and under insider it said "Griffey To White Sox?". Now, I don't know if anyone has said anything about the article yet but if someone could provide some info it would be great. Please don't paste the article- maybe just some tidbits.
  6. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) It was my favorite sitcom ever, even if it was extremely short lived. I have both seasons and the special on DVD. That series had everything. The humor is not always subtle, many times it is quite obvious. The key is that it was pulled off without being obnoxious unlike so many sitcoms are today. I also have the seasons and special.
  7. I was just wondering if there were any Office fans out there. No, not the NBC version,(which was actually pleasantly surprising)but the original BBC version with Ricky Gervais. I'm having difficulty getting any of my friends into it, some like it, most don't. I always tell them that they have a hard time "respecting" the humor, as it is very subtle. I think alot of that has to do with the fact that American humor can be very obvious and over-the-top in a childish sort of way. That's possibly why one of my favorite shows, Arrested Development, isn't succesfull. Anyway, I was just wondering if any of the fans were out there.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Page, Plant? I actually wanted to have them on the list, but I had too many choices.
  9. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Now McCartney wrote with Wings and Lennon did that Imagine thing... When did they write together?? When they were in the Beatles.
  10. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) Hmm I guess there's a difference between a movie theme and a prominent song that seems to represent a movie. If we take both into account I love Little Green Bag in Reservoir Dogs Woke Up This Morning in The Sopranos Not Going to Stop by Aimee Mann in Magnolia Theme de Camille in Contempt Mystic River theme composed by Clint Eastwood those are just a few of the top of my head Love the Mystic River Theme.
  11. I happen to think that the greatest songwriters of all- time are Jim Morrison/Ray Manzarek/Bobby Kreiger of The Doors (Dylan would be a close second). I just saw a concert today with Manzarek and Kreiger and it was awesome. I always liked The Doors music, but know I love it. They put on a hell of a show.
  12. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) I believe aaron rowand completely changed his reputation in the league after this series. I'm willing to bet he gets the gold glove. My thoughts exactly.
  13. I say it would be better off if the A's win their division, rather than the wild card. That way we could face the Angels in the first round, who we know we can beat, and I don't see the A's beating the Red Sox, and if we beat the Angels i really believe we can beat the Red Sox. if it weren't for stupid errors, we would have taken 3 of 4 from them. However, with all that said, there's alot of baseball left.
  14. Well, I would love to get Burnett, but all three players are tempting.
  15. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) I know he's been discussed before. And I have no rumors to report. But I look out there at the prospect of a Frankless team in the playoffs with no one in the lineup who will scare anyone and wonder what deal could get done. Adam Dunn. That's the name that jumps out at me. I bet he would be available for less than what Aubrey Huff will fetch. Yet Dunn is someone you can build upon. He's 25. He'd be perfect at DH. He's a LH bat like we haven't had in a long time. Now the rumor board says Cincy wants a #3 pitcher for him. Of course I wouldn't give up Jon Garland for him, and I don't think Cincy would accept either of our Cuban pitchers. But they aren't going any where this year. So why wouldn't they accept a combination of very solid minor league pitchers? Brandon McCarthy and Tracey, or McCarthy and 2-3 B-list pitchers? Dunn strikes out a lot, and doesn't hit for a high average. But his OBP is close to .400, so he isn't making that many outs. He would look very good in the middle of our lineup. I agree. As soon as I heard he was on the block, I wanted the sox to get him. I would love to see him in a Sox uniform.
  16. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) The lastest from John Marzano is the following as heard on Comcast Sportsnet in Philly: Sox: Wagner Phils: BMac and Marte Don't shoot the messenger.... I hope so.
  17. QUOTE(Da Sox @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) I've found every time this guy posts something, it's the most retarded thing I've ever read. Don't mean to be mean, but each one is worse than the last. Now I look forward for him to start posts because they're good for a laugh. What do you mean? Do you think I make it up or something?
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) 1 question, why is it that every thread you start is a poll? Do you just like getting a feeling for what people are thinking through the poll and not reading thier responses in the thread? I like to see what oher people think. I do read the responses though.
  19. Jayson Stark was on Sportscenter a little while ago and said as of now, the Sox are involved in just about every major trade. I wonder what this means...Griffey?Wagner?Huff? I guess we will have to wait and see.
  20. So...I wonder when Huff will hit his first sox HR....
  21. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) just a heads up, on the radio today there was an ambigous rumor that was about how a trade may happen before the trading deadline between the sox and some team in the MLB. Sorry for being an ass, but c'mon. It's no problem, I actually didn't hear the interview. Mike O'Gulnick was talking about it during a Mac, Jurko, and Harry update. What exactly was the rumor?
  22. Today during Mac, Jurko, and Harry, Bruce Levine said that KW has been talking to several GM's about trades, so we'll see if any thing happens between now and Sunday. Just a heads up.
  23. It was reported on ESPN 1000 that Shingo cleared waivers and was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.
  24. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) i have a hard time believing anything coming out of the mouth of any organizational employee at this point. it's all spin, imo. Let me rephrase that, on Pro Sports Daily, it says kenny has been calling all week, and they told him they aren't interested in trading him. They believe they are still in it.
  25. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) If thats the case, then KW needs to see if this can work out. McCarthy & Marte for Burnett, Burnett for Wagner. Surely not as simple as that but if anybody could make the deal, Kenny could get it done. The Phillies have stated as late as today that Wagner is not available at all.
