  1. Francona shouldn't play him unless he's used up every other pitcher. Maybe not even then. Make one of the Twins or A's all-star position players throw a couple innings before Rogers pitches....
  2. With our luck, he'll have an MVP second half.... Still, he's batting .232 or so right now. He's had an awful season thus far.
  3. Good to know that the Sox aren't the only team struggling now.
  4. I'm glad to see the A's leave town. We just need to pray they don't win the wild card. Assuming that the Sox keep the best record in the AL, we'll be playing the Wild Card winner in the first round of the playoffs. We don't want to see the A's ever again, least of all in a short playoff series.
  5. Willie had two opportunities to move Pods over to third with less than two outs. He failed miserably. He made a couple of half-hearted bunt attempts, but ultimately swung away. If you're in Willie's shoes, you have to be able to bunt a runner over. If he wants to play every day, he's going to have to execute a whole lot better than he did last night.
  6. Willie had two opportunities to move Pods over to third with less than two outs. And on both of those opportunities, he failed and looked bad doing it. In a game that was decided by two runs, performances like that stick out like a sore thumb....
  7. This is the beginning of the end for the Cubs. I wonder if it's the beginning of the end for Dusty Baker....
  8. I have to figure out what to do with my Maggs jersey. Change it to say "Raines"? Maybe take the numbers off, too, and get another player's name and number on it? Permanently mothball it?
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Green= sarcasm... for the people that cannot normally catch it. Thanks. I'm colorblind. :banghead EDIT: I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, but I really am. I have the damnedest time trying to play bocce ball. The reds and the greens look the same!
  10. The Twins will always make it interesting. I don't think they have a chance to catch us, but they're not going away. Let's not jinx anything!
  11. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Who's Hawk? Andre Dawson? He didn't ever play for the White Sox did he? You're kidding, right?
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) No offense but that quote doesn't seem terribly original. Well, I'm new here, and I thought that we'd all be familiar with that particular "Hawk-ism." My apologies.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) So what does that make the Sox when they pissed themselves there earlier this year..?? Each season, no matter what you do, you're gonna win 60 and you're gonna lose 60. It's what you do with the other 42 that makes the difference. Those 2 losses in that soulless arena were in the "you're gonna lose 60" group.
  14. I saw that quote this morning. Well, Crawford, you know all about "bush league." You play on a triple-A team.
  15. It's time for some payback. Let's see how well the A's do now that we get to play them outside of their Bermuda Triangle of a ballpark.
  16. This is a great thread. There's a Twins fansite out there that refers to our Sox as the "b**** Sox." That 10.5 game lead feels good when you see stuff like that.
  17. It's great to see the offense waking up. If it cools off in the fall, at least we know we have the pitching and defense to weather the storm.
  18. I'm here thanks to Hawk's shoutout. I like the site a lot.
  19. Jenks didn't look bad last night. Lightning arm. I was a little concerned with his control, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, it was his Major League debut, and he had to have some nerves going on. I think the D-Rays hitters helped him out by chasing stuff up out of the strike zone, but when you're throwing that hard, some batters will do that. Jenks definitely has potential. I hope he stays healthy and develops.
  20. Wow, what a reception! Thank you, everyone!
  21. I have to thank Hawk and DJ for getting the word out on this website. At last, I've found a ChiSox forum. I'm very happy to be here! Scott Podsednik's winning the fan vote has just confirmed it for me- something special is going on on the South Side this year. We're lucky to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.
