  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) What? I got the complete opposite from that. Why would he say he's not confirming or denying it when he can just flat out deny it if it wasn't the White Sox who claimed him? I'm not denying that we put the claim in, but rather Rios physically being a White Sox.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) This is not a denial. ""I’m not confirming or denying any interest or any claims or any thing, but if these things get out on a daily basis, boy, it’s going to be a heck of an August around here in terms of how many players you claim and how many you don’t claim," Williams said. "It will make your head spin if you follow each report. “A lot of players getting claimed every day. Why is this a big deal?” http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....er-process.html Doesn't sound like we are getting him.
  3. JD is out because his defense has sucked lately.
  4. 1:50pm: According to ESPN.com's Buster Olney, we should know by "early Tuesday afternoon" where Rios is headed. SATURDAY, 1:34pm: MLB.com's Jordan Bastian asked Rios about the waiver claim before Saturday's tilt with the Orioles. It sounds like everyone is still in the dark. "I can't do anything," said the outfielder. "If I get traded, I get traded. I'm going to have to go wherever I get traded to, but I don't know. At this point I'm thinking that I'm staying here." For what it's worth, Rios is 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI since the waiver claim was reported.
  5. White Sox have 2/3 odds of getting him. Either it's Trade, straighr claim, or he's pulled back. 2 out of 3 favor the White Sox getting him.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) Fields would have to CLEAR WAIVERS in order to be dealt. There's no way, despite how bad he's looked, that he would clear waivers. He already could have for all we know. The league doesn't release that information and how has already cleared and such. But yes, any non 40 man player must clear waivers first.
  7. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) Oh man. I'm not going to read 420 plus posts. Not sure if I like it or not. Depends on what we would have to give up for him I suppose. There is a good chance the only thing it's going to cost us is the waiver fee and the size of Rios' contract. The Sox aren't giving up any top prospects or heck, maybe not any mid level prospects.
  8. This is probably the impact CF Kenny has been looking for. He tried his harder to get Torii Hunter, now he has a shot at Rios.
  9. Is there any news coming from the Sox beat writers or local media?
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) Pods will get on and Beckham will win it with a 5-run HR. wrong thread?
  11. MLB rules say the White Sox can't announce that they have claimed a player. The only way the Sox can talk about it is if there is a deal in place. We can only go by media leaks like this.
  12. White Sox Claim Rios per Olney http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4384253
  13. WHITE SOX CLAIM ALEX RIOS http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4384253
  14. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Steve Goffman on his facebook said that the Blue Jays TV flagship confirmed it was the Sox that claimed him. I don't know who Steve Goffman is, who is he?
