QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Is Geoff a good enough contact man? Considering he's a LH , You'd figure he could pull a grounder through the big hole on the right side. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) They have the players that can snap out of it. Call me when we have a Vlad Guerrero or a Andruw Jones on this team. Until then, they have no reason to complain. And Carl with the baserunning blunder. Konerko's not bad -

Nice to have Carl back, but if Timo hit that it would have gone out. 1-1 now -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Our hitting is flat out pathetic. What happened to all that smallball BS? It's obviously not working. I can understand Ozuna, Blum and Widger filling in for Uribe, Crede, and AJ. But why take Iguchi out of the lineup?? He is probably are best hitter, and we have a day off tomorrow?? -
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) How many times PK walk yesterday and today??? If I were the Yankees I wouldn't have thrown PK 1 pitch to hit w/ Timo behind him, nice to see Embree challenge him tonite.
-
Boy, Timo and AJ sure looked like studs tonite :rolly

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) I dont see the problem hitting 5th, it means with Dye and Rowand behind him, he will see better pitches to hit and he showed yesterday he can hit them!!! It also means that Pk won't see anything to hit....... And AJ batting 3rd?? Please.

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) YESNETWORK.com has starting lineups http://www.yesnetwork.com/yankees/startinglineups.asp THUD! This SHOULD be the lineup.........Pods, Iguchi, Rowand, PK, AJ, Dye, Uribe, Timo, Crede.........:banghead
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Podsednik LF Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Konerko 1B Perez DH Dye RF 21 Rowand CF Crede 3B Uribe SS Who else is stoked? This will be the 1st game all year that i won't be watching.

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) You're all going to be disappointed http://www.yesnetwork.com/yankees/startinglineups.asp :headshake ............... :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Look at Timo's career numbers against the Yanks. I suggest you then retract your statement. Playing Timo was/is smart against them. Maybe not in the 5 hole, but Timo is useful. You're hating on Timo just to hate on him. Career #'s vs who?? The Yanks pitching staff is way different than it was last year..........I have nothing against Timo personally, but IF Ozzie is going to play him, which he obviously is, then he needs to bat no higher than 8th, PERIOD!!
-
QUOTE(Molto @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) I understand that, but many here are making it seem as though Perez in the lineup anywhere is an automatic loss. He batted 5th yesterday and went 2-for-4, which is better than pretty much anyone else in the lineup at this point. Should he batting 5th? No, but nobody else is doing much right now and he was one of the fewproducers in yesterday's game so it is not a terrible move. For the record, I don't care much for Perez either and I want Everett in the lineup, but he's looked a lot better on offense over the past few weeks than a few guys in the lineup. I just don't want to see Timo starting, period. We already need another big bat in the lineup even w/ Everett in there. Now Gload might not be as good as he appeared last year, but he is definitely more of a threat than Timo. And if Everett is going to be out for an extended period, than Gload is are best option.................I guess what ticks me off more than anything is that we are the best team in baseball, playing the Yankees, in Yankee Stadium, and Timo is batting 5th. These are the games i get pumped up for, and that's the best we can do?? I'm sorry
-
QUOTE(Molto @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) You didn't really make a point there. He said he went 2-for-4 and was blamed for the loss and because he will be playing a loss is expected. some of you guys really need to stop being, what's the word ... dumb. Whether Perez bats 5th, 9th or on the bench, this offense is struggling, with Perez being the least of their problems. Perez can't hit for avg, power, obp, and is HORRIBLE protection for PK, or anyone else for that matter. If this isn't blatantly obvious i don't know what is.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Everyone's hitting homers off of Prior recently. But let's not start making fun of the Cubs, lest we get a stern talkling-to from someone ( ) around here. Oh but he does have 8k's in 6 innings :rolly
-
Btw, Griffey just hit another Dong, this time off of Prior.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) So now Timo playing means a guranteed loss? :headshake Yeah, him going 2 for 4 really killed us yesterday... I'll never understand the Timo hatred and Gload fascination on this board. It just keeps reaching ridiculous proportions... TIMO SHOULD NEVER HIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LINEUP AGAIN!!!!!! If Ozzie wants him to bat 8th or 9th fine, but 5th?? Now that's RIDICULOUS.
-
I have a feeling Everett won't be ready till Friday when we play Boston, which means 2 more days of Timo, and most likely 2 more losses...... :puke
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) That's a good point but it's still getting Pods less ab's and still a switch in the order. Like I said, I'd love to see Aaron moved up to the 3 hole and Carl in the 5 slot, not gonna happen but that's what I'd like to see. Agree to disagree. I agree that Rowand is probably are best option at #3, he will get more fastballs to hit w/ Pk behind him, and Carl protects PK. This would be my lineup if we don't acquire another bat........Pods, Iguchi, Rowand, PK, Everett, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe..........For better or worse

QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:11 AM) What makes you think that the Reds are going to change their minds and decide to trade Griffey? Wouldn't they have done it before the deadline when when they could have gotten prospects on our 40-man (Rogowski)? I think that the only way we get Griffey is if we eat most, if not all, of his contract. And we still may not get him because he has to approve the trade, and that is if he clears waivers on top of everything else. I would love to have him on this team, but the chances are very slim. Whether they would trade him or not i don't know. But if he is available, i probably wouldn't take on his contract, unless the Reds pay some off his deferred salary.
