  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) From Reifert's blog: I hope so
  2. I just read on Rotoworld that Carl said yesterday that he wouldn't be available to play today. He also said " I wouldn't give it a date, basically I'm just going to let it do what it does, and when it's ready I'll be in there. I'm just listening to my body. If my body says i can go, I'll go. I just have a certain way i play, and I don't want to affect that. "..........I don't like the way that sounds, we need to bring up Gload to take his place, I don't want to see Timo or Blum in there. This offense is struggling right now and we need more punch in the middle of the lineup. I would go w/ this lineup till he comes back..........Pods, Iguchi, Rowand, PK, AJ, Dye, Gload, Crede, Uribe..............
  3. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) Ok this may be the wrong place and if addressed somewhere I aplolgize but the following sources have stated over the past week that Rowand would be displaced by Griffey should he be brought in. Harrelson and DJ in response to an e-mail Bruce Levine Some nit wit from Sporting News Radio on the CLTV Round Table Sunday night ESPN dolts Many folks on this site. Should by some miracle of god we did get him he would fill the role Everett had when Thomas was here and Everett would fill the role Thomas had when Thomas was here with less at-bats then Frank. The OF'ers need a day off here or there and Timo is an embarrassment. Another injury and we are done, we will not play above .400 ball and out pitchers will be toast from the stress of having to throw a shut out everyday. In the game last night they talked of how NY was going to get him. If the cash is right they will get him. Although I did hear on the cub radio braodcast, first insightful thing ever, that the Reds were about to be sold and they did not want to risk the devaluation of the franchise by giving up Griffey. This may be who we are fighting for and why if the Yanks will eat the $$$ the will get him. I actually think Pods is an ideal DH as he can play everyday and run without tiring. This team is looking tired offensivly and there is nowhere to turn. Where is Pablo OZuna, I thought he was a fine spark but we haven't seen him in weeks again. Griffey would take Frank's place, plain and simple. He also gives Aaron days off in CF, and against tough RH's. Everett would rotate w/ Pods, Dye, and Griffey, and be our LH batter off the bench.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) In your opinion, what can be done to help this offense? If KW is likely to make a move, it will be for another OF/DH type that probably won't play more than Everett would. The left side of our team (SS, 3B, and LF) has been just awful lately, but all three of those guys aren't going anywhere. What can be done to kick-start an offense that really seems flat and isn't producing. I know our pitching has been super, but in order to be successful during this very difficult stretch of our schedule, we're going to have to be able to score more than 2 or 3 runs on a given night. With Pods struggling like crazy to get on base, and then having just as much of a struggle stealing succesfully, it might be a good idea to cut down on the straight stolen base attempt, and go with more hit-and-runs to utilize Pods speed. Well i just heard on EspnNews that this was only the 2nd time all year that the Yanks won a game by scoring 3 runs or less, figures it would be against are anemic offense. Now I don't know what KW can do at this point, we obviously need another impact bat in the lineup, but considering we have the best record were last in line on the waiver wire, which means any other team could block a trade. Now I'm confident w/ Everett healthy we can win this division, and maybe make it the 2nd round of the playoffs, but I think when it boils down to it, we don't have enough offense to win it all. I think Griffey would be a great addition to our lineup, but i am leary of his contract. If Griffey does clear waivers though, maybe KW can get the Reds to pay a good portion of his contract in exchange for some quality prospects................... I am not totally convinced this team will make the playoffs next year, so we need to do what's necessary to win it all this year, which means we need another bat.........BAD!!
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) when is carl come back? i had to admit having Timo hit in the 5th slot is kind of a joke. and as much as i love A.J. he doesn't belong in the 3rd slot. hopefully ozzie learned from tonites lineups mistakes. but as far as the 1st base umpire goes :finger you were terrible in Oakland and your terrible in New York. Does he have it out for us or something? Did he grow up a Cub fan? Did Ozzie screw his wife? Podsednick was safe at 1B and A-Rod clearly interfered with that play. We sure could have used Carl tonite that's for sure. But i think it's painfully obvious we need another Big bat in the lineup for protection.
  6. Well at least the Cruds are losing 9-0 tonite.
  7. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) I blame Mussina, Gordon and Rivera. Don't forget Sturtze
  8. Well that was Pathetic............We hold The Yanks to just 3 runs in Yankee Stadium, and we lose :banghead
  9. Great poise by Jenks in Yankee stadium against Sheff, ARod, and Matsui.........This kid is for real.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Oddly he pulled the outside pitch with the Pauly Pull baseball shift on. I am surprised lots of teams dont invoke the Pauly Pull Baseball Shift. Well its Timo, Dye, Rowand against the sandman in the 9th. YIKES If Timo hits against Rivera i will be VERY pissed. Ozuna should lead it off. Rivera is lights out against LH's
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Well, that was pathetic. But i thought Gordon was hittable
  12. If Gordon throws anything for PK to hit here he needs his head examined
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Griffey Jr. just homered vs the Cubs Well I heard on the radio here in CA that KW is still very interested in acquiring him through waivers........
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Kind of. He called him safe than went, "No way!" as Hunter called him out. Did he yell stretch??
  15. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) If they let Gordon pitch more than 1 inning we can put something together but if they bring in Rivera to clean up his mess its game. Sturtze, Gordon, Rivera, in that order. Are best chance is probably against Sturtze, but the bottom of the order is due up this next inning :banghead
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Great game El Duque. But you still suck. You're not a playoff pitcher anymore. blah blah blah blah blah. I wouldn't say he sucks, but he did put us in an early hole, and thanks to Aaron it would have been worse.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Guys... how good were Aaron's 1st inning catches? The neighbor Cub fan came over to tell me about them. Well let's put it this way, they will both most definitely make WEB gems tonite.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Are you surprised? I'd prefer to see Cotts start this inning. I'm not surprised, but El Duque shouldn't be allowed to throw more than 100 pitches per start.
