I just got back from the Great Falls game which the Sox won 3-2 in 11 innings. Christian Marrero crushed a 2 run homer to right in the 6th to give the White Sox a 2-1 lead at the time. That held up until the Owlz tied the game up with 2 outs in the 9th. The Sox were a strike away from winning the game in 9. Jim Gallagher made an outstanding game saving diving catch in the 10th inning. Right fielder Salvador Sanchez drove in the winning run with a 2 bagger in the top of the 11th. He had 3 hits (this guy can hit; he can run too). Al Woodson struck out 3 in the 11th for the Save. Great game, a lotta fun. Defensively there were nice plays too by 3rd baseman C.J. Retherford, SS Greg Paiml and 2baseman Dale Mollenhauer. Edit: Oh also at the start of the game they had a moment of silence for Mike Coolbaugh. Boy, did I get a lump in my throat and nearly cried.

I still watch and follow the Sox because I've been a White Sox fan for 50 some years(!!). I've endured worse teams and seasons than this.

This is great and overdue. So little is ever heard of Billy Pierce who was easily one of the best pitchers of his era. He probably should be in the hall of fame. I'm glad to see him get this recognition and wish I could be there. As for further statues, how many can they have out there? I'd like to see statues of Shoeless Joe, Big Ed Walsh (of course) and maybe Luke Appling. And of course, Frank had gotta be honored. It'd be neat if they do that to coincide with him going into the hall of fame.

Charlotte over Scranton 5-1. Sisco started and went 5 innings for the W. Pods 1-4 with an RBI. Richar, 2-5 with a 2B. Sweeney 0-4 with a BB and a run. Carlos Vasquez pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief. Birmingham beat Chattanooga 4-0. Gio, 6 shutout innings and 9 K's. Collaro hit a 2 run homer. Nanita went 3-4. Winston-Salem lost a twinbill 7-2 and 3-0. Nuff said. Kannapolis won 4-1. Carlos Perez with 5 strong innings for the W. Miranda, Shelby and Carter all had 3 hits. Bristol was clobbered 10-1. Gerst with 3 of the team's 4 hits. Great Falls is losing in the 8th 8-2 (can't win 'em all). Poreda with 2 scoreless innings of relief, 2 Ks.

Monday and or Tuesday I'll be seeing Great Falls play against the Orem Owlz. This has become like an annual family event. This year I'm more excited than usual because Great Falls has been doing so well, unlike previous years. Last year it was pretty cool. We sat right behind the Sox dugout and were the only people hooting and hollering for the Sox. There were a few other Sox fans but none as loud as my family. The team was totally aware of our presence and several players waved to us.
