  1. Sorry to hear about this Tex. In the early 70's my uncle and cousin were killed in a head-on accident with a drunk. My uncle (my dad's only sibling) had just retired and took his son on a fishing trip to Arkansas. They were killed there. Shortly after this happened my dad and I were driving home from work one night and were behind a guy swerving all over the road. I could sense my dad's rage. After a stop-light my dad cut the guy off and forced him to pull over. My dad got out of the car and walked to the drunk's car. He took the guy's keys and we drove to the Elmhurst police station where my dad went in and handed over they keys and told them where the guy's car was. I remember being quite surprised that my dad didn't get in trouble.

  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) I don't really care about rose anymore. This team, despite all odds, has actually been entertaining this year (after Jan 1). Nazr Muhammed was giving great minutes in the f***ing playoffs. Joakim Noah, with two (basically) broken feet, is outhustling other teams big men (lopez rebounding not withstanding) all over the court. f*** rose man, team with no hope is at least giving us some fun s*** to watch. You aren't gonna win it every year. I know most here wish Bulls tanked this year, but they didn't. And they are here in the playoffs. Might as well enjoy them giving the other teams hell, and the other teams fans hell, as they scream "HOW THE HELL IS A TEAM WITH KIRK HINRICH AT THE POINT AND NAZR MUHAMMED AT CENTER BEATING US" I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't care about Rose anymore but I agree with your thinking that this team has been fun to watch, although sometimes very frustrating, too. Though opponents fans may not be screaming that, you know they have to be thinking it. At the beginning of the year I was hating Muhammed and thinking that the Bulls could replace him with ANYONE and be better off but man, he has been great down the stretch and especially last night.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) Watched the newer Total Recall the other day and it finally hit me why most movies today bore the crap out of me. They aren't about the story line anymore, they are about the special effects and action. The former Total Recall's acting was awful, as were most of the effects, but the storyline was so much better. They actually kind of oscilated you on the thought that Quaid was or wasn't having his mind screwed with by the Recall process, or he actually was a spy/revolutionary. The new version seemed to be about gunfights, chase scenes, and blowing some things up. Visually it was way better. Mentally it was awful. I felt the same way after seeing the Great and Powerful Oz. Visually it was great, especially with the special effects. The story was awful. Contrast it to the original Oz, or even the broadway production of Wicked, and you can see an amazing storyline. Wicked was incredibly well written, and was way more entertaining, even with the massive limitations of seeing it live on stage. Anyone else feel the same way lately? Couldn't agree much more. I've felt this way for some time but then I'm old, so what you expect? Computer graphics look incredibly fake and 3D effects though sometimes visually stunning (Avatar) bore me.
