  1. The Tigers must want to be the wild card knowing the recent string of success attained by past wild card winners in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Tigers are back into the playoffs. Unless the Johan Santana pitches the next 5 games, the AL central teams seem likely to be among the first to go home.
  2. There seems to be a lack of a "none of the above" button.
  3. QUOTE(easyw @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 07:20 PM) Rush. Never in history have 3 more talented musicians got together to make such awful music. There is definately a place for them in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. In the basement.. .cleaning the toliets. Truth.
  4. Only way we get Crawford is a three way deal that send Freddy or Vaz somewhere like Philly and Philly sends prospects/pitching to Tampa.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Can we hope that once KW tells Ozzie he won't sign Pierre to a 3 year, 24 million dollar contract, Ozzie will just quit the team and go with Pierre to the Nationals or someone like that? Ozzie does have some serious man love for Pierre, he has not been shy about it. I guess this teams needs a new Timo Perez, a quick guy who can't hit or throw. Oh wait, we have one in LF most days.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) Would it really surprise people if Ozzie felt Haeger was the better fit to start than McCarthy? We can only hope Ozzie spends the winter at the Betty Ford Clinic to get off the Stupid Pills.
  7. After the game, Ozzie will be quick to point out that while BMac pitched in great game his start, he sucked in relief. So he is not ready to be a starter. Instead, Juan Uribe will be our 5th starter next year.
  8. Even though they are a massive underdog, I will be pulling for the Cardinals. Only they can piss off Cubs fans, Tigers fans, and Twins fans at the same time by winning the world series.
  9. In or out of the playoffs, leaving Garland in the game to give up 12 earned runs is absolutely inexcusable.
  10. Congrats Detroit, I'd rather see you win than the Twins.
  11. QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 06:29 AM) Did you see him throw? I was hoping that he would slowly improve after last year's shoulder injury but he showed yesterday that he still cannot survive as a regular major league outfielder. His weak arm directly led to 2 runs against Beuhrle . 1B and DH are the only positions where he can get playing time without hurting the team, despite his fine hitting. Buehrle getting hit like all over the ballpark like a pin ball machine caused those runs. Don't make excuses for Buehrle's pathetic showing.
  12. QUOTE(bunkerf16 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) You mean kind of like how Chicago had every chance to run away with it last year and needed the last week to clinch as well...how'd that work out for you guys.......don't discount the Tigers this year.....their pitching from top to bottom is better than any team in the league.....polanco is coming back today, and their hitters are getting hot again.........say what you want, but I like the way the Tigers are starting to play again as the season winds down..... Well see after the first week of October is up. The tigers still don't even have home field.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) McCarthy is flat out not a good reliever, its pretty clear. He has shown flashes that he can be a good starter. What else is Ozzie supposed to do? Put 10 million per year Freddy Garcia in the pen? Not going to happen. I don't think anybody expected it to happen, but that does not mean it should not have happened.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) Not a bad idea. However, I would sure hope they are not seriously looking at Haeger for the rotation next season, even if they do dump 2 starters. If that what they want to do, blow it up, stock the farm. It was good to see Charlie come out strong like that. His knuckle was nasty today. If we don't want two green pitchers in the rotation, having 2 potential major league ready starters in BMac and Haeger give us more options for trades. We don't have to start both. Am I the only that is wondering if Ozzie screwed up BMac by putting him the bullpen this year?
  15. After this game I would hope Haeger gets one more start. Perhaps he can take Count's spot in the rotation. Perhaps Haeger could be major league ready. He has looked pretty impressive since being called up.
  16. We celebrated a great team at a parade last year. I won't celebrate this team. This team did not do s***.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Here come the boo birds. This team is an absolute joke. Ozzie really does know what's best for this team. What is the use in booing? They should have just stayed home. Empty seats speak louder than booing IMO.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Why is Mark Buerhle on the mound? Because Ozzie is resting his poor tired starters for next year.
  19. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) I was at the game last night, and it was painful. I don't know if Jose makes another start. Since McCarthy isn't stretched out, I wouldn't mind seeing Haeger or Tracey get a start or two. Letting our poor tired pitchers get an early start of their off season rest would be too logical.
  20. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Just mailing it in. They are SUCH a disappointment this season. Its really sad. Is this thread all emcompassing for 9/23's game too. Why start a new one when all you do is lose?
  21. QUOTE(loltrain @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) 1.5 games up, won the season series with Oakland, Magglio and Granderson are both crushing the ball again...I like our chances to at least get out of the first round, although the Yankees all star lineup...ugh Of the four AL reps in the playoff, the tigers were the least impressive in the second half. Really, the Tigers had every opportunity to run away with the central. The how team usually goes the farthest. By my estimation, the Tigers are the least hot. Especially if they go into the playoffs as the wild card.
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) I feel pretty confident that it will be a New York-New York world series. This is going to be one of the weaker postseason's, IMO. I would sooner go blind than watch that.
  23. I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that Santo does not want to acquire Michael Young.
  24. I can't believe Ozzie waited til elimination was virtually clinched before he was willing to try Gload in lead off. I hope Gload hits for the cycle and makes Ozzie look extra stupid.
