  1. The good news is the starting pitching can only get better from this point on.
  2. Ben Wallace is coming to Chicago. Chicago 7 all stars, Detroit 2. I think we will let you keep first place warm for us til September. Then, it will all be good.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Just wait until we play the Red Sox, Yanks, Tigers. I would be happy if the Sawks were kept in single digit runs this weekend.
  4. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) WALLACE SIGNS WITH BULLS! 4 YEARS 52 MILLION! Sorry. Had to get that out. Breaking news on ESPN.com Since this game is over, I am heading to the Tiger thread to let the Tiger fans know. At least , we have something on them.
  5. This pitching problem is only getting worse. The defense has been s*** this inning, but all the hits in between could be prevented. This is Pathetic. The "best staff in baseball" is getting hit like a Triple A pitcher.
  6. Getting hit around by the NL, we should have seen this coming.
  7. Widger has a gun. Unfortunately, he is shooting blanks.
  8. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) So what you're saying is, Cliff Politte would make a great backup catcher. Maybe. But I have a feeling he would get rocked even as a catcher.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Widger blows, but most back up catchers do. But he defies the laws of physics by managing to suck and blow at the same time. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Freddy is about to get lit up. I hope Ozzie gets the bullpen up soon. Ozzie doesn't even turn the ringer on in the bullpen til the 7th inning.
  10. And I thought Ross Gload was a waste of a roster spot ...
  11. Would like to see the Sox score some runs without a solo homerun.
  12. Bedard is the best pitcher we have seen since Anthony Reyes
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) That makes two of us. That makes 3 of us.
  14. QUOTE(pcullotta @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) His current numbers are not very good: AVG .217 | HR 6 | RBI 17 | OBP .260 | SLG .377 | SB 2 in 67 Games The Freddy Garcia deal keeps looking better.
  15. If Sox fans think Detroit hates us now over the all-star fiasco, I can't imagine how much they would hate us if Ben Wallace signs with the Bulls.
  16. Warning: Plot Spoilers below! The one thing that I did not like about Superman returns is the introduction of "Superman's love child". Plots for sequels have no where to go but down. I suspect the series is going to go in the direction of cute movies with Superman saving his kid and showing his kids the ropes. It is bad enough that Superman has to save Lois Lane or his lady friend in each film. Now he has to save his kid. I fear the next Superman will be a kiddie film in much the same way Star War Episode I: the Phatom Menice was. Not mention, is Superman now a dead beat dad because he disappeared for 5 years? I suspect that he should know his super-sperm is very fertile. Artistically, I loved the movie. It was true to the originals with Christopher Reeve, although the new Superman is obviously trying to be Christopher Reeve as Superman not trying to be Superman. I loved Spacey and Parker Posey in the villans roles. Anybody else share my fears about the future of the series?
  17. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) It's wierd, right now I have more faith in Garland and Garcia than Buehrle and Vasqeuz. I will take this a step further. Freddy Garcia has been our best pitcher over his last three starts. Roast some Bird!
  18. QUOTE(Wolverine31 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) LOL @ the Sox fan who said the Tigers would have no starting pitching w/o Verlander. Do you even look at stats? Our "worst" starter has been Kenny Rogers and his whopping 3.72 ERA. I haven't checked the stats lately but that might be leading your starters. BTW I think Ozzie is even more awesome for taking all of his players to the game instead of the most deserving players. There's no way guys like Liriano who lead the AL in ERA or Verlander who is third in ERA and has 10 wins did not deserve to go before Ozzie's home team picks. Mods, love the fixed version!
  19. BTW I think Ozzie is even more of a tool for taking all of his players to the game instead of the most deserving players. There's no way guys like Liriano who lead the AL in ERA or Verlander who is third in ERA and has 10 wins did not deserve to go before Ozzie's home team picks. Mods, isn't this an impeachable offense?
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) No offense at all because I understand where you're coming from (we really do understand), but we don't give a s***. You might as well stop trying to make this point because we just don't care. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) The tv would only help you learn about Mauer or Liriano if they played the Yankees at least half the time. This has become one of the best threads ever.
  21. QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) No offense to Guillen but Leyland is too respectful of a manager for that. He wouldn't punish deserving players from opposing teams just so he could take undeserving players from his own team. If you agree to lose 10 in a row, I will put a word to Ozzie to let your guy on the team.
  22. NO Yanks or Sawx in the final vote. This should be interesting.
