Red Sox vs. White Sox, 1:05, Game thread

Let me start the Big Mo going for BA for MVP of the second half. -
Grandstands (near the Cell) has AJ, Garcia, Pods, Thome, Konerko, Iguchi, Buehrle, Garland, and Pods shirts for $20 I would like to see them add Jenks and Count to their collection. But I too was wondering where are the shirt that have the name of the World Series MVP?

Did this thread somehow get out of archives?

The sooner the dead weight of Cliff Politte is gone the better. Right now, he is a wasted bullpen spot.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) f*** career averages. Answer me this: What do you see in Freddy Garcia, Javier Vazquez and Jon Garland that makes you think they're 3/5 of a 2006 Championship caliber team? Add to this Freddy loss of velocity among other problems.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) Do you really think all of them will finish the year with ERA's that high? That would put all of them well over their career averages. That seems pretty damn unlikely. I never said they would, I said it was feasible if the trend continues.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Those who defend the Sox's pitching staff need to ask themselves if they believe this team's pitching is Championship caliber . Once they realize the honest answer is "no," they'll then understand why those who criticize the pitching are complaining. We're not in a rebuilding year. We've already traded away prospects like Young, and we're not far from assembling a Championship caliber team, so KW might as well finish his f***ing plan. I think the bolded statement is the bottom line. It is not a question of optimism or pessimism. It is tough to win a world series when all of your starters except 2 have 5.00+ ERA's. I think the question is when and who will step up once this Boston Massacre is over.

Hopefully a win tomorrow and a few days off gets everybody's heads together. The pitchers could use some rest, but the mental mistakes are killing the team. Letting a pop up drop between four players in unacceptable. Not being able to manufacture at least one run with the bases loaded and no outs is the mark of a team trying to do too much. Perhaps even trying to overcompensate for poor pitching. In the other hand, it we compare the pitching stats of 2005 to 2006 at the all star break, the similarities are marked. On the other hand, I hate to see us fall into a "Bear Trap" and use one season (1985) as the mark of success forever. The focus and hunger gave the Red Sox an edge coming into the series which may be why they looked past the D-Rays and lost 3 of 4. Which raises the question, what are the White Sox looking at? Eh, but who the hell cares? Go Mariners!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) He's a miracle worker. See: Garcia, Garland, Buehrle, Vazquez. I saw Cooper walk on water once. Right before that, Freddy Garcia shared his smoke with me. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Why is everyone concerned about the pitching? Coop can fix 'em. Cooper's powers must have some limits. Cough Cough, Javier Vazquez. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Francona's managing one of the best games of the season against us. We clearly don't deserve to win this game. Being Out-managed and Out-played today and yesterday. -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) See, in a case like this, I'd bring in Jenks. He's our best reliever, is he not? I'd rather put the best reliever in when you need an out, rather than save him for the close out. Actually we are getting closer to Cliff Politte territory. -

Right now, the Red Cubs are the better team. You have to accept it. That does not mean they will be the better team in October which is when it is important. Every flaw in the White Sox has been exploited in this series. LF defense, subpar starting pitching, relying on the long ball. Luckily it is a long season.
