  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Please use that Lidge one. That one would sting so bad. Someone needs to explain how and why the Rally Crede got started!
  2. Pinstripe Baines and a Blank Pinstripe I got as a gift that will have Konerko added to it.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Call me a joiner, but I love the Lidge one as well... except you would have to get seats at the warehouse behind the ballpark for that to be true I, too, like the Lidge idea. But, I want to be able to enjoy the whole game. I somehow think I would not last all that long. I'm thinking: My name is Bartman. I'm really a Sox Fan! GO SOX!
  4. Ijust got tickets for the Left Field Crawford seats for Game 4 in Houston. Any ideas for a sign? I am so stoked!
  5. I will be at the Sox / Texas double header next Tuesday.
  6. I am in, but I am scared as all hell.
  7. 1. KW did a good job this weekend on a couple fronts: a) he picked up some infield insurance in Blum that can play 1b, 2b, SS, and 3B plus the outfield. Getting someone that can play both 3B and 1B is key in that it gets Pauly off the field to give him a rest and is insurance in case Crede's back flares up. I have the same problem as Crede and it can be very bad. B) he did what he could without selling the farm system or losing a key member of this team to try to improve. With Baez and Huff and some other players who were all rumored to be traded NOT being traded, it goes to show that these teams were asking for way too much. I'm glad Kenny was able to keep a clear mind in this. c) He showed the team that he is trying to help them win this year by looking for help. He let the team focus on playing and he talked to about every GM in MLB to see who he could get to help improve this ballclub. Even though the players think they are OK, they have to like the fact that he was out there trying to get something done. 2. I don't get to see too many games on TV living in Dallas, but of the WGN and ESPN games I have been able to see, Garland has pitched all but 1 or 2 of them. It was nice to see someone else pitch for a change. 3. I get to see my first game in The Cell this year on Thursday. I missed the WS when they came into Texas earlier. I had tix to the rainout game. Good thing is I have tix to the double-header already. GO SOX! Let's sweep!
  8. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Yes we did. Good players are still obtained after the trade deadline. Larry Walker being a prime example last year. We will not be getting any players of significance this year after the deadline. Any contending team that even thinks the White Sox would be part of a trade would put a waiver claim onthe guy to squash it.
  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) remember those root for CLE and MIN threads, yeah well they arent winning the wild card this year, so yeah i think we should actually begin rooting for oakland so that they win the division and well end up playing the angels in the first round. oakland is only 1.5 back I am not rooting for anyone but the White Sox. If I root for Oakland, or The Los Angelos Angels of Aneheim, or the Yanks, I keep getting this gut feeling that I will get what I wished for, but it won't be good. So, I would rather the chips fall and just play who we have to play.
  10. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) I'm surprised his name hasn't come up in relation to the Sox yet. Baseball Prospectus says there have been several teams asking after him, and the Rangers may be willing to deal due to their stockpile of hitters and desperate need for pitchers. I think he could step into the DH role nicely for the Sox. Even if his homers were to drop a little bit moving from Arlington, he's been a walk machine this year and has some speed. Plus he's always been considered what KW would call a "grinder." I would certainly be willing to trade a couple mid-level prospects for him. Don't be suprised if the Rangers ask for the moon. They are very unrealistic when trading. They would expect McCarthy at a minimum, plus probably want a guy from the 25 man roster to take his place as DH/Outfield since Nix is out for the season.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) McCarhty, Marte and Contreras for Burnett and Lowell is to much IMO. McCarthy and Marte for the two is much more doable. Welcome to Soxtalk and such I agree that adding Contreras is overkill, and I think a more fair trade would only involve McCarthy and Marte.....but like I said, I am willing to go for it, and losing Contreras does not affect this year as much as it would affect next year if not able to sign Burnett.
  12. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) I agree with you that I'd like to see us make a hard push to win this year, but at the same time, our core of guys aren't so old that we have to win now or not win at all, and I don't feel like there are enough quality possible acquisitions to make a really over the top trade. Thanks.....it may take me a little bit of time to get used to it over here. I am used to Rivals and it works a little different over there!
  13. If I understand it correctly, the WS can not play their own division in the first round, and if the Twins/Indians made the wild card and the Sox have the best record, they would default to playing the division winner with the worst record, which as of today would be the BoSox. I do NOT want the A's to make the playoff's, but then again, Billyball does not seem to go far inthe playoff's.
  14. This is my first post as I have just found this forum.....and as my handle name says, I live in Dallas so I don't hear as much of what is going on as most of you, but from what I can see, the Sox need to make a couple moves: 1) DO ANYTHING to get Vizcaino OUT of the 25 man roster going into the playoff's 2) Get some help in the infield because of Crede's back problems. 3) Need to do something in case Frank can't come back 4) Do whatever you need to do to get A.J. Burnett from the Marlins There are a few options here: Aubrey Huff and Danys Baez. But Tampa wants the BEST prospect from the WS. I am going to assume that is McCarthy. I have no problem with dealing McCarthy, but I think McCarthy is a key to the next trade: Burnett and Lowell for Marte, McCarthy, and maybe Contreras from what is rumored. I think this would be a great trade for THIS year for several reasons: a) Imagine a rotation of Buehrle, Burnett, Garcia, and Garland going into the playoff's with El Duque in the Bull Pen.....(and that gets rid of Vizcaino in my eyes) B) Even with Lowell having a subpar season, he has playoff and WS experience. c) Lowell will be a great insurance policy for Crede or even a DH if Frank is not available If they somehow could pull off these two trades, I think they would be set going into the playoff's. But, I don't think both can be pulled off unless Tampa is willing to take another prospect other than McCarthy. If they can not make the Huff/Baez trade but do make the other, then they need to go hard at trying to get Guardado or Wagner to cover for the lose of Marte and to insure against Hermanson going down.
