  1. Hopefully he is having a nice relaxing time like Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames did in Pulp Fiction down in the basement of the Pawn Shop!
  2. I crack up about all the complaints about certain pitchers being overlooked. Former GM Steve Phillips with the much hated ESPN had a great point about All-Star pitching. If the intent, as everyone is saying it is these days, to win the game to get home field advantage, you are better off having four or five closers on your roster over starters. Why? First off, the closers are paid to get in the game in big time situations to close down an inning. Secondly, they typically do not take as long to warm up, making it easier to do a mid-to-late game change. Third, starting pitchers typically are not mentally prepared to go one inning. They get prepared thinking of the long term. So, the arguments that a guy like Jenks with now 2 seasons of experience and 25 saves already is not deserving of the spot is rediculous. I would like to see the starter go 3 innings (maybe Kenny Rogers or Santana) and then have the other come in for two, and then have BJ Ryan, Papelbon, Jenks and Rivera come to close out the game with an inning each.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Personally I'm content with the way AJ is hitting. I'd love for him to take more pitches but that's not who he is. We don't need the higher HR totals from AJ. He gets them at the right time and with all the other pop in the line-up (Thome, Konerko, Dye, Crede), the home run threat is always there. Getting on base at a good clip and continuing or starting rally's is what we need. Sometimes getting a key base hit and knocking in one or two is better than clearing the bases with a HR. Seems like mentally the guys keep try to do something if there is someone on the bags versus them being empty.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) What a great pickup to get Absolut. Cintron is the MAN! I love his clutch hitting.
  5. I did my part. Just got a message that I voted the maximum number of times. Go Tad!
  6. Rick Morrissey has jumped into the fray against Marriotti
  7. Ok, I understand the tv draw of the Yanks and Red Sux, but every darned week that the Ranger are not on in Dallas, they play the Yanks or Red Sux. This week, with the a rematch of the World Series going on the same time, and one of those teams only 4 hours away, FOX in its infinate wisdome decides to show the Red Sux vs. Phillies in Dallas instead of Houston vs. CSW. At least ESPN got it right for the Sunday Evening Game. (WOW, that was hard to do....give props to ESPN)
  8. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) If the swing was the only problem, shouldn't he be getting better at some point? He was batting over .300 in late April with a couple of HRs. It is now late June and he is down to .277 and has yet to homer in June. Yes his doubles are up but not in proportion to how much his HRs are down. Look at Uribe, he seems to be coming around. 4 HRs in the last 6 games, Teixeira has hit 4 HRs in his last 59 games. Same goes for Jim Edmonds, a perennial 30HR guy has 7 HRs this year thus far. Both Edmonds and Teixeira have dropped more than 150 pts off of their career OPS for this year. I'm just going on what the guy has said to the local media. He and Rudy recognize what is causing the problem, but he does not want to just go and try to change everything in one day. His thought is that it will screw him up more and her the team in the short run. He prefers to try to adjust over time and hope that it helps.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) If I were on HGH, I don't thikn I"d be that concerned. They can't test for it so as long as you protected those close to you and were very quiet about it you'd probably be alright. It's a combination of a few things. 1. Rudy J. (batthing coach) not being around while he was out fighting prostate cancer. 2. slow start 3. His swing. If you notice, his doubles production has shot up tremendously. It has to do with the fact that his swing now has a slight 'upswing' versus a 'downswing'. The downswing produces the spin to get the height to get the ball over the wall. He and Rudy noticed this while watching film and caught it just before the WS series. He has decided to try to take it slow in changing it because he doesn't want to not hit at all. He said he would need to take some time in the cage and slowly make the change so that he isn't constantly thinking of it.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) How soon we forget Hermanson's 0.00 ERA last year. Or his 0.00 this year as well
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) There ain't a chance in hell Mariano Rivera and Mike Mussina especially won't make the team. Jenks and Papelbon are pitching better than Rivera this year. Mussina will be skipped because of a combination of 1. most of the guys I predicted are having better years; 2) Need to pick at least 1 from each team; 3) yankees Suck QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) I could, but I wont.. and you cant make me That's true...those teeth scare me!
  12. QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) How is Konerko not on there You try to do it.....I just forgot him....so, I would drop Swisher to put Konerko on there (the FOURTH 1B).
  13. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) grudzelanek??? He is my guess

  15. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) Pods for the all star game? um... I mean I'm a homer too, but.... Well, If Varitek (.258, 7HR, 30 RBI) can get elected, Pods most certainly can deserve my vote.
  16. I look at the numbers and it is appalling. We need to do better folks! I submitted 20 ballots at the Rangers-Sox game last Wednesday. (1B- Konerko, 2B-Iguchi, SS- M. Young, 3B - Crede, OF - Dye, Pods, and Matthews Jr.) I think we really need to get a campaign going to show how STUPID fan voting is and have the whole damn city vote for Anderson about 10 times each. That is all the Yank/Red Sox fans do. Vote for all their players regardless how good they are.
  17. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I just got back from Cincy and I was absolutely blown away. I could not believe the Sox fans in attendance. The hotels were packed with Sox fans. I was at the games on Saturday and Sunday, the crowds were very pro-Sox. I was in Left Field on Saturday where the Sox fans were extra loud. The come from behind victory made them extra boisteroius. High fives all around. We came, we saw, we conquered. Seeing the Great American Ballpark flooded with Sox fans made me proud. On a side note, I was very impressed with Cincinnati. This was my fourth time in the city (first for pleasure), and I loved it. The people were very friendly, ballpark is wonderful, the city deserves a winner. I didn't get a chance to see the only game shown here in Dallas on Saturday, but all the comments on WS fans in Cincy reminds me of Smoltz making fun of all the Boston fans in Atlanta. He was captured on TV after a Boston Home Run saying to the other players on the Bench "Everyone on your feet and cheer on your Boston Red Sox". He had the bench cracking up with that.
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) The Tigers are almost on top of the league in every reasonable statistic except hitting. This is also considering their best record in all of baseball I don't know how the hell (unless they put the sox there who are 5-1 against them) can they not be #1. It might have something to do with the fact that the WS are 23-9 against teams with current record of .500 or better versus Detroit 's 19-15 against .500 or better.
  19. When the hell are they going to have the greivance hearing? If life was fair, he would either have already served his damned suspension or they will make him do it against the Sox.
  20. The Rangers announcers when it happened said the fence at the end of the grass was 490 feet (based on another HR hit to that fence in the past). They thought Thome's went about 470 based on that. But, the announcement was 435. The Rangers announcers didn't buy into that.
  21. Knowing the damn Cubs, they will get their arses swept Just another reason to hate those bastages on the North Side. Barrett better not agree to his suspension for this series!
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) I'm worried about the man. You should be, too. Yeah, I'm worried about him. Not because of his ripping Tracey and the team, but because he is going to have a hard time this weekend seeing Thome on the bench for 2 games!
  23. So, in conclusion, pull him after the first?
  24. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) You could've just as easily gotten a Cardinals hat. Or a John Deere cap!
