QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) That should be all for Garland, as we can ph for him in the 8th. Yep, that played out perfectly.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Great game Jon Garland. I supposed thats what toughness is. 2 ER. Should have been one on that charity HR!

That timeout call was BS.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) It's pretty acurate. It's the most accurate of all the devices tv's use nowadays. I like Fox Trax alot. They need a Homerun Trax to make sure HR's actually leave the field of play. Maybe Joe Buck can invent that.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) I'm sorry, not to be rude, but I find it funny that this Rosa Parks moment of silence is taking place at a home game for possibly the whitest team in sports in the last 25 years. and playing the White Sox no less.

Nice throw Juan! Now lets add some insurance runs!

QUOTE(PUME04 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) Whats better than watching this game with a Sox fan? Watching it with a Cub's fans. They're ooting for the Astros, Talking $%&* after Bobby lost the lead and then out of nowhere no way, NO way, NO WAY! YESSSSSSS! The look on their face was priceless. Only 2 games away from leaving the Cubs nearly a century in the dust Sweet!!! A Home Run - $1 A Home Run in the post season - $10 A Walk off Home Run in the WS - $1,000,000 The faces of Cubs fans watching a Pods Walk off Home Run in the WS - Priceless
-
Pods will be in the cleanup spot for Game 3. That will intimidate Oswalt and he will pitch around Pods to get to Konerko. Anderson is not on the WS roster, but if there is an injury, I think the Sox can bring someone in. B-Mac is there too. It is a great experience for young players. Pods HR was the 14th WS Walk-off HR in history, and it is definitely the most improbable one. The guy hits zero all year, and now has 2 in the post season with a Walk-off in the WS. Amazing just amazing.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) But why are you still preachin on how the Sox are a terrible fastball hitting team? Konerko, Dye, and even Podsednik tonight have shown themselves able to hit a fastball. I don't know where he got this idea that we are a terrible fastball hitting team. Maybe just because we're not the Red Sox? I think it is reverse psychology against the Astros so they throw more of them. Keep up the good work Harold!

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) FWIW...I do think Manny throws him out. His number of assists is skewed...because everyone does run on him. However, to get those assists, you do have to make accurate throws. Perhaps some do not remember Manny in 2003. Someone, though I cannot recall who, singled to LF with Rowand on 2B. The ball was sharply hit, right to Manny, and Rowand was sent home. Manny of course threw accurately to home, and Rowand was out by quite a bit. He gets all the assists because of the Green Monster. He knows how to play the wall, and batters take a hit off the wall for granted - and they get thrown out at 2nd.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Since I'm complaining :rolly I'm just saying Pods should be receiving criticism for not making an accurate throw. I'm happy as hell he hit the homer...and like I said, he should get props for it...but he makes that throw accurately, and the game is over. Period. Iguchi gets picked off, Rowand tries to tag up on a would be Double, Uribe gets run down, Everett gets caught stealing, Crede misses a grounder, etc, etc. There were alot of plays that could have changed the game. Pods throw was just one of them. At least it was not Berkman who scored on the throw.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Manny led all outfielders in assists this season. It is because he plays in front of a HUGE GREEN WALL!
-
Pods was the 14th player of all-time to hit a walk-off HR in the WS. That is some rare company. No way Manny throws him out. Burke would have been halfway home before Manny would have scooped up the ball. He trots around Left field - or out of the scoreboard.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) I'm not hating on anyone. I think a left fielder should be able to make that throw, that is all. Any more cheap shots at me before you leave? Not all left fielders will make that play. Pods is faster than most of them, so he got to the ball quicker than most would. It is a 50/50 play.
-
Either way, I am glad we are up 2-0 regardless of the clutch or clutch-less plays. Houston has to win 4 out of 5 to win the WS and the Sox have to win 2 out of 5.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) It would have also been clutch to make a decent throw to Pierzynski to end the game in the 9th, or did you forget about that? Can you make a clutch throw? I never heard the term clutch used that way.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) It would have also been clutch to make a decent throw to Pierzynski to end the game in the 9th, or did you forget about that? There were a couple of plays that could have saved a run. You can blame a lot of players for letting it get that close, but at least we are not chatting here about a 7-6 loss.
