  1. AJ says f*** your controversy! YES!!!!
  2. Rowand is sucking, he needs to take some pitches!
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) This is a joke. They are trying to make this series a controversy. The fact is that the ump could not see Pierzynski's glove touch the bat because he is behind AJ. No one is mentioning that if Finley runs it out insted of b****ing, a run scores. Yep, The Angels are too busy complaining about the umps; which is a good thing for the Sox! There have been a lot of missed calls all year, but the umps are human, and that is part of the game. They need to get over it and go home with their monkeys!
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) This is why these plays become controversal cause they talk and talk about it. Yeah, they need to really STFU. Hell, Finley could have been out of the back of the batters box. The line is aleady gone. AJ is not going purposely interfere, and give bases loaded with 1 out!
  5. Great momentum killer DP! Freddy needs to attack the strike zone and not give any more free bases. Lets get a couple of more before they pull Santana!
  6. Holy crap, I went to take a piss and the bottom of the inning is over. How many pitches, 3?
  7. Paulie clutch again! Show him the money!
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) hmm. I think being angry and being fired up are two different things. Angry would be bad - using this "incident" as a motivational factor, with a crowd you know will be rowdy and loud, is another thing entirely. I smell blowout if Garland gets rattled and a huge momentum shift. Hope I'm wrong. I think that the Sox are due for a breakout game offensively. This will be their 3rd game back from their extended vacation, so all the rust should be off by now.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) 33 year vet & now retired Harryass Wendelstatt says it was the appropriate call. but the interesting thing still to me is that if the ball changed direction then it should be considered a foulball and that wouldve meant a 3-2 count still holds. he wouldve freakin walked him anyway. that pitch has always sucked the rallymonkeystesteswhilerimminghisschuster. Just because it changed direction doesn't mean it is a foul ball. The change in direction was up from the ground, like the ball skipped on the dirt right before going into the mit. On the zoomed in replay, it shows the pitch going down, then right before the mit closes, the ball clearly goes up. Either it was the ground or the mit, but either way it was too close to call and Paul should have just tagged AJ out, but he didnt.
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) It seemed to hit the webbing and bounce up. Mark calls it one of his best games ever. Well, if Mark and Count can have games like they had again, the Sox are looking really good.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) I think it hit the ground. Yep, If you look at that super slow-mo replay, it looks like it went down the up into the mitt.
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Pinch run with Willie, steal a base, and let Crede win it. No way we string hits together, and no way AJ scores from first unlesss somebody dies in the outfield. Wow you called it!
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Thats what I am wondering. However, who would be off this time if Mac is on? Its not Duke, and from what I have learned in this 8 pages is that Marte is still on... AP News http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=1197884 No change to roster from ALDS.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) BTW, did we ever find out if it's official that McCarthy still isn't on the roster? Yep.
  15. QUOTE(South Side Irish @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) The thing that I don't like (pardon me if I'm repeating), is that Freddy will go in a potential Game 7. I'd much rather see Mark or Jon go in a situation like that. The good news is that the Old Cuban is ready to go in a pivitol Game 5. That's pretty big. Freddy in Game 7? Here are the starters: Jose Contreras Game 1 - H Mark Buehrle Game 2 - H Jon Garland Game 3 - A Freddy Garcia Game 4 - A Jose Contreras Game 5 - A (If needed) Mark Buehrle Game 6 - H (If needed) Jon Garland Game 7 - H (If needed)
  16. 4 games with starters going at least 8 innings, then bring in Jenks.
  17. Here is an interesting one, Marte vs LAA and NYY this year: LAA .224 AVG, .250 OBP, 8 K, 2 BB, 0 HR in 49 AB NYY .326 AVG, .436 OBP, 6 K, 9 BB, 1 HR in 46 AB Looks like 2 different pitchers.
  18. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Do I have to understand the reason to use this arguement? Let's put this whole f***ing thing into context then. We have NO f***ING CLUE what goes on in that clubhouse. We are all on the outside looking in. Sorry, fellas. I know some of you think you could be skipper, but, you're not. Do I know the reason? No. BUT, do I see time and time again he goes to Marte over Cotts? Yes. Ozzie knows a LOT more baseball than I. And, I'm just going to take a guess here, a LOT more baseball than you. He goes to him time and time again for a reason. He has ALL the information you are PRIVY to and MORE and he STILL goes to the worse statistical pticher of the two. Why? Manager's also have their favorites, he must like Marte more than Cotts, or he sees potential in him, but needs to get him on the field to show it. He knows what Cotts can do, and if needed he will use him. Either way I just hope Marte redeems himself the next chance he gets.
  19. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) New article on the Tribune site seems to indicate Garland will go in game 3 and not game 4. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Yep it is: Jose Contreras Game 1 - H Mark Buehrle Game 2 - H Jon Garland Game 3 - A Freddy Garcia Game 4 - A Jose Contreras Game 5 - A (If needed) Mark Buehrle Game 6 - H (If needed) Jon Garland Game 7 - H (If needed) The Marte, Viz, BMac thing doesn't really make any sense. If Ozzie wanted another Lefty in the bullpen, then why not put BMac in for Viz. Viz makes me sick everytime he comes in, I can't imagine what his ERA would be if you counted all the inherited runners he has allowed in this season. Even though Marte struggled vs Boston, he provides another Lefty option for Ozzie out of the pen. Still would have liked to see BMac in there though. Also, Ozzie was quoted as saying that he would have loved to have Garland pitch Game 1, but that would hurt the other 3 pitchers routines, so this way it only affects Garland.
  20. I lost a lot of respect for Berman after that ugly display on national tv. Every single little thing that went Boston's way was the best play ever, but when a similar play went Chicago's way, it was ok. Olerud makes a play at first and he is giving him a virtual blow job from the booth (Berman wipes chin), then Paulie makes 2 great plays at first and it was tough luck for the Boston hitters. It was very annoying. He needs to stick to football and Jenny Craig. :puke
  21. I just hope the NYY LAA series goes to 5 games. They play Game 4 Sunday in NY, then would have to fly to Cali and play Game 5 on Monday, then fly to CHI and play Game 1 of the ALCS on Tuesday. That is a lot of travelling in 3 days. 3 games in 3 cities in 3 days. There is no way that you would be fully ready to go, especially since there would be some celebration after the game for winning the ALDS. This would also bode well for the Sox in terms of opposing starting pitchers. Colon and Mussina would most likely pitch Game 5 and they would not be ready to pitch again until Game 3 of the ALCS. By then we could have a 2-0 lead.
  22. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Garland HAS to start game 1, due to the fact that he got 0 work in the ALDS, so I'd love to see the following rotation: 1) Garland 2) Buehrle 3) Contreras 4) Garcia 5*) Garland 6*) Buehrle 7*) Contreras * if neccessary This sets things up perfectly, as Buehrle is a better home pitcher, Contreras will dominate anywhere the way he's been pitching, and Garcia is a road ace. This also gives our hottest pitcher the ball in the case that Game 7 is needed to decide the series. I like Mark pitching Home and Home (if needed) in games 2 and 6. That makes total sense. That is the only set of games that has a pitcher pitching 2 home games. Garcia for Game 4 makes sense as it is away and would be the only one he starts. The only decision I see is with Count and John. If you hold Count until Game 3, he would have 9 days off, and you are assuming the series goes to 7. If you had to make a choice right now on who you would want to pitch 2 games in a 7 game series, it would be Count hands down. So regardless of rest it has to be Count in game 1 and 5. There is a good chance that game 5 could be the clinching game - and I would hate to see it go the other way with a couple of losses and not getting him to pitch twice. I know John has not pitched since the regular season, but I am sure they can have him pitch a simulated game to keep him fresh. I also think this rest will get some bodies healthy again. That stretch in Aug and Sep was killer. Pods, Crede, and maybe some arms will get more life. Whoever we play will get very little rest and a lot of traveling (NY to Cali). I am really hoping the other series goes to 5 and they have to pitch Colon and Mussina again. That way we would not see them until at least Game 3.
  23. Who do you want to pitch 2 games. It will probably come down to matchups, who was better vs NYY and who was better vs the California LA Angels of Southeast North Anaheim. I say go with Contreras in Game 1.
