  1. 1,2,3 Inning for Freddy and then Anderson leads off with homer.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Next year no Uribe or Crede. They simply just suck. Yes, please Santa, all I want for X-Mas is a SS and 3B that bat over .250! Is that too much to ask?
  3. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Let's go get back in this, get Rowand and two runs is nothing. Let's actually com back in a game we were losing by more than a couple runs. Widger you suck, we know Uribe will be popping up in the infield in a second. NO POPUPS!
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Iguchi looks like he's in slow-motion out there. If this game gets out of hand, Ozzie needs to get Everett out of RF before he hurts himself or someone else. The team might have had a late night after celebrating their first West Coast road series win in 5 years.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) How could Garcia get the win then? That's true, Moyer still is pitching.
  6. Bring in Adkins! Save Freddy's arm for another game! Bring in Timo!
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) According to the Mariners broadcast, the reason Sexson left because of blurred vision was that he couldn't believe this Sox team he saw on the field was in first place.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) How long before a thread pops up in the trade winds about the Sox possibly getting Sexson? Yeah right, Thomas for Sexson!
  9. It is all about the stretch run. The writers don't remember how a pitcher performed in April and May. They rememeber what the guy did in Aug and Sep, and Halladay killed E-Lo during that timeframe. That is also how Santana won it last year. Whoever has the best Aug and Sep will win the award. Right now I would say the voting would be: 1. Colon 2. Rivera 3. Buerhle 4. Garland 5. Santana The worst thing for the Sox is that Mark and John will take votes away from each other.
  10. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) You're gonna have to ask Ozzie about that one. There has to be a method to his "madness"... There have been times where posters have complained only to learn about a minor injury that kept someone out of the game afterwards. That's what usually keeps me from second-guessing. Possibly giving him a break after the great game, or he is giving some rest to prepare for the doubleheader.
  11. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Anyone following the Twins game on gameday? they just had a "unknown strike" that was on the far top left of the screen. ???? Twins lost after Mauer's error 2-1.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) :rolly Can someone link the article stating the "vote" was bulls***...? TIA. In the mean time... http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ne...t=.jsp&c_id=bos "KANSAS CITY -- The Red Sox face a 30-game test of endurance after Commissioner Bud Selig ruled that the rained-out game of Aug. 14 between Boston and the White Sox will be made up on Sept. 5 at Fenway Park" Man that sucks. It breaks up the Sox 10-Game homestand, while BOS just gets an extra game in the middle of their homestand. I hope the Sox get a better schedule next year - 20 straight games to close out the season - compared to CLE getting 4 days off in SEP.
  13. Uribe's bat is a liability compared to last year. Yes, his defense is good, but there are only one or two SS in the Majors batting lower than him. His OBP is only .283! There is at least 10 SS with a BA higher than Uribe's OBP - now that is bad. Regardless where he bats, the Sox need better production from the SS position.
  14. Julio Lugo is another option. He only signed a 1 year deal with TB, is batting .297, has 32 SB's, and is a decent fielder. SS and 3B are the weakest batting positions for the Sox, so depending on how this season turns out will determine what direction they go.
  15. Conteras has better stuff. Opponents are hitting only .237 against him vs. E-Lo's .265 in the NL. Also, Count has looked really good lately.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Wonder how Mark is feeling right now. Like Freddie yesterday.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I woulda liked to seen burly complete it. But thats just me. Me 2, he still had some gas left.
  18. Here we go. 3-4 runs this inning and Mays gone.
  19. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) 9-3 TB!!! Huff 2-run bomb!! We could've had him too.
  20. "Winning Barely....Losing Easy" "We Gone" "Lead Gone" "Team Denial, no really, we don't need another bat" "Waiver Sox" "Shot Down in a Blaze of Pop-Ups" "We make Zack Greinke look good" - http://www.zackgreinke.net/ "Small Ball, Smart Ball, No Balls" "Team Chemistry" "Team Mendoza"
  21. This was the hardest stretch of the season (6 vs NYY, 6 vs MIN, and 3 vs BOS). Record so far: 3-9 Here are the remaining games and opponents. 3 vs SEA 4 vs TEX 8 vs DET 3 vs LAA 6 vs KC 6 vs CLE 8 vs MIN We may need to play that BOS game after all. The bad part is 14 games left vs CLE and MIN!
  22. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Even with this game, I have the feeling they're gonna kill the Twins tomorrow night....Damn shame for Freddy but you hang a curveball to the biggest hack in their lineup and you deserve to go down.... I hope so, but this has to be hard to swallow. MB has to go out tomorrow and pitch better than Freddy to win. We need Jason Marquis, at DH.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) If we keep this offense the rest of the way, KW should be fired, and not Walker. This offense just doesn't have enough, especially against tough pitchers you'd face IF you make the playoffs. Absolutely! This Small Ball / Smart Ball s*** is such BS. The Sox won so many 1 run games - which meant luck would eventually run out. Well, it has. I am just hoping for the Wild Card spot now.
