  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) freddy garcia is going to lose after allowing 1 hit jesus A CG One-Hitter AND you lose!
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) does anyone ever remember seeing a pitcher give up four home runs in an inning before? Yes, Today vs Randy Johnson in the 4th Inning. Other than that, I am sure it has happened, but I don't think it has ever happened to Randy Johnson before. I am still in shock. GO SOX!
  3. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) We couldn't even beat KC right now!! They're SP's would make our hitters look like s***. Hell the Sox were the last team to lose to KC and that was 2 in a row!
  4. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) LOL. The Pick 2 Click game must really suck now a days for Hawk and DJ CWSOX45 All they have to do is pick the Starting Pitcher for the other team, too easy!
  5. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) You know what sucks? When you think you need a break from watching baseball because you can't take the frustration then you do it anyway... thats me. Yep, now I will be pissed off until tomorrow. It feels like Groundhog Day! I remember when I saw these games on the schedule (15 games vs MIN, NYY, and BOS). This would be the validation for the great start, and a test for the playoffs. The Sox are about to be 2-7 so far, and the best we can do now is go 7-7 if we win the next 5. I just don't see that happening.
  6. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) The ESPeN folks are hollering for Mariano Rivera. :rolly That's because they use this formula: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/features/cy In there, they have Rivera first, followed by Garland, Buehrle, Colon, Nathan, Halladay, and then Santana. Garcia even ends up in 10th because the Sox are in first. Garland has the upper hand as long as he can win some games. If he can get to 22 wins and the Sox finish with the best record in the AL, then it will be hard to look at the others with their teams not even making the playoffs.
  7. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) The hitting has gotten used to the pitching bailing them out most of the season. They take advantage of the pitching and sit back for long ball. Yesterday, Bruce Levine noted that a few of the SP's are becoming irrated with this offense. Oh boy, I hope someone snaps and lets this offense have it. The pitching hasn't been stellar of late either. Yes they carried the team for the great run, but right now it seems like all facets of the game is weak (pitching, hitting, fielding, baserunning, and coaching).
  8. I hope he didn't say that. I know you want to have confidence in your team, but denial of your team's weaknesses is a formula for disaster. The fact is every team in the league could use another bat, just some teams need more bats than others.
  9. I know that Griffey keeps coming up in trade rumors, but what about Sweeney at DH or Vizquel at SS?
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) I still believe we put Pods on the DL in order to get him rested, and not cause he's really hurt. Even Ozzie has said he's happy he's not on the bench now so that he's not tempted to put him in the lineup. We took the foot off of the accelerator in mid August, and it didn't take long for everyone to start to panic. This team just needs to win games. Anytime they want to have an offensive explosion would be fine with me. We're playing not to lose....and of course you know what happens then. I agree, playing not to lose gets you nowhere. At least we have a day off before the next 2 series (THU and MON). That should help and give our pitchers an extra day of rest.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Just remember, Dye was even worse in May. I just hope he breaks out of this, as well as the rest of the team. Sox have let up 34 runs in the last 6 games, but at least Adkins and Vizcaino didn't allow any runs tonight! Adkins ERA is now down to 13.50. At least CLE, BOS, OAK, NYY, and KC lost as well 2nite.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) I don't really want to bring this up, but I gotta ask, where do you think we'd be with Magglio on our team? Just a comparison of how bad Dye has been lately.
  13. Dye is 5 for his last 40 ABs with only 1 HR, 2 RBI, and 10 K's! Magglio has more hits and RBI in his last 3 games - OUCH!
  14. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) THERE GOES THE SHUTOUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man are we pathetic. Clapping our hands because we finally scored a run. WOO HOO, 5 more to win!
  15. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) 13 more losses to equal the Royals streak Not funny! Guess who was the last team they beat (not once but twice)?
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Mark is 2-0 against Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, and Seattle. Mark is 1-0 against Texas, Toronto and the Dodgers. Mark is 2-1 against KC. Mark is 0-1 against Boston, soon to be 0-2 against Minnesota, and 0-2 against Oakland. Mark is 0-0 but with 3 very good starts against San Diego and The LA Angels. He has an ERA of 0 against SD and 2.08 in 2 starts against LA. So he is 0-5 vs good teams, and 13-1 vs Average or Below Average teams. That doesn't look that good for our Ace.
  17. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Is there no one we can get to fill in as a leadoff hitter? Is Rickey Henderson still playing in one of those indie leagues? He plays for the San Diego Surf Dawgs: http://www.goldenbaseball.com/SanDiego/Roster.aspx?SecID=397 Here is his stats page: http://www.goldenbaseball.com/SanDiego/Pla...D=280&SecID=397 16 SB, only 2 CS, OBP .460.
  18. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Using a pitcher for one or two batters does not make them unavailable for the next game. Also, you dont play for the 16th inning. There are 2 or 3 of those in all of baseball every year. You never assume the game will go that long and you play to win in 9, which is what Ozzie did. The only thing he did wrong with the pen is put in Hermy if he wasnt 100%. That is the only bullpen gripe from this game. (Unless you wanna argue Cotts could have been left in for 1-2 more innings) I thought they could have left Marte and Cotts in a little longer, even one out each and Herm only comes in for the last out or not in at all.
  19. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Adkins has had two appearances for a total of how 3.2 innings since August 1st, when he came up. In that time, Carl Everett missed 5 games in a row (he pinch hit in the 5th game), and now Podsednik is about to go on the DL. Ross Gload could have played every one of those games. Instead, we've had 8 games of Timo Perez since July 31, 6 as a starter, in which he had a total of 3 hits in 22 ABs (until today, which was washed out). Now they are talking about bringing up Willie Harris to play LF. It is insane. Gload hit .320 last year in his 200+ ABs. There is no Sox player close to that number. Give the guy a chance. If they want to bring up Harris too, and send Adkins down (with Gload taking Pods slot), then fine. I'm not averse to having a pinch runner in a close game. But pay attention to who is of value. An everyday replacement player or a pitcher who has pitched less than 4 innings in 2 weeks? Moreover, Ross Gload could actually have value in the postseason as the first lefty pinch hitter if they would cultivate him. Jon Adkins has no chance of making the postseason roster. The only reason I can think of that this isn't happening is that Gload is in Ozzie's doghouse. Does anyone know why??????? Adkins does need to go, we can't afford anymore losses, especially 16 innings, even though it was not all his fault. I just think the Sox are testing some players now during this stretch to see who can help them in October. Obviously Adkins didn't cut it and he should be gone. In regards to Gload, there has to be more going on behind the scenes. I know Blum can play multiple positions, but the last thing we need is a .240 hitter with an OBP of .269 - that is just horrible.
  20. Jenks is really becoming a force, which is great timing for the Sox. I used to cringe when I saw Vizcaino come out of the pen, and now Adkins make me do that. Embree is to the Yankees = Adkins is to the White Sox
  21. Yeah, The best record in the AL is important though. I would hate to have to play in Oakland or in Boston for 4 games even though the Sox play better Away than at Home. Either way, we need to start winning some series.
