QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 17, 2007 -> 08:28 AM) im tired of winning 2 out of 3 games in series's. it seems like the past 5 series' we have won 2 outta 3 why cant we ever sweep someone. oh well, even though in the past 2 years, its been the sox winning 4 out of 6 against the cubs both series' each time in 05 and 06, maybe we'll sweep 'em this time I'll take 2 out of 3 everytime.

Cintron back; Gonzalez back to AAA
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2007 -> 09:14 AM) Slowly the roster is coming back together... I can't wait til Big Jim is ready to go. I am shocked that we are still over .500 with him out. Hopefully he can kick start the rest of the offense into gear.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2007 -> 10:43 AM) Ozzie on Toby: Why does Ozzie always have to include lines like this? What does he gain by saying his guys are not comparable to some of the best in the history of the game? Um no s*** Ozzie. He seems to do this constantly and I have no idea why. When comparing Toby Hall to Gustavo Molina, he might just be Johnny Bench. Johnny Bench sucks now. On a serious note, it looks like Gooch has had a sprained finger since April 8th. Obviously if that is the case, the injury would affect his swing.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
Game 6 is building up to be the most exciting game of the season. The Bulls just needs to continue to pass and shoot like they did in Game 5. The ball movement was excellent. Getting Billups back in foul trouble will be key. Detroit is a completely different team when he is not on the floor.

sox cubs past
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:20 AM) The Sox have had one of the best record in the majors over the past 10 years... You should plan getting your money, because I'll bet its not even close. Well I wanted to know, so here it is... 1997-2006 Sox 852-767 (one rain out, not made up) Cubs 767-853 Sox have 85 more wins over that 10 year span Wow, that is not even close. Sox averaging 85.2 wins a year.

Yankees or Cubs?
QUOTE(danman31 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:07 AM) Cubs for the rivalry factor. To quote Allen Iverson (well kind of), "We're talking about tiebreakers!" The baseball season is 162 games, I'm not going to be picky about who the Sox get the wins against. A win against the Cubs counts just as much as the Yankees. To prevent the Yankees from winning more games is really petty. Besides, they really aren't in the playoff picture this year even though they probably will be. Actually the Yankees have a better shot than any of the teams that don't win the AL Central. The Sox, Tigers, Indians, and Twins are going to beat each other up, while the Sawks and Yankees beat up on Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampa all season. By the time the pennant race comes around, more overall wins is going to be very important, especially considering the WC is usually decided by a game or two.

2nd Baseman Options 2008
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 15, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) The $4M figure is probably pretty damn close. Even if he has a poor year he's not going to be this bad. At the least I could see him pulling in $3M and that's if he's .260/.320/.400 which is about the worst worst case scenario for him this season IMO.Yeah if Uribe is getting $5 in 2008 and AJ is getting $5.5, it hard to see Iguchi getting more than either of them. The most I could see for him would be $4.5 based on the other players salaries. I don't think he would take a pay cut from $3.25. The range will probably be between $3.5 and $4.5, so your initially estimate is spot on. Also, it may be better to keep Garland instead of Contreras due to the age factor. Another option I see as a possibility is Rowand in place of Erstad in 2008.

cubs or sox?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 15, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) A #9 in the AL is the #8 in the NL and I'm sure even the numbers would show that. Your worst hitter is your worst hitter only difference being there's usually 1 guy who's even more pathetic than your worst offensive player when you are an NL team. Even the worst hitting starting position players in the American league are still going to hit over .200 in a lot of cases you're not even getting a .100 batting average from your starting pitcher. There are normally one or two pitchers per team that bat over .200. Zambrano is batting .250, Livan is batting .278, Lohse .308, etc, etc.

Yankees or Cubs?
I would rahter sweep the Yankees because we need as many tie breakers as possible, especially for the Wild Card.

2nd Baseman Options 2008
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 15, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) I really am amazed at the lack of common sense people are using in this thread. Hunter's contract would be an albatross for, at minimum, the last 2 years of it, and we simply can't afford to have a deal that bad. He is hitting better than ever yes, but his defense has been on a gradual downturn for a few years now and he is aging. I'm also scared of Ichiro for the exact same reasons. Letting Dye go and acquiring Ichiro or Hunter is going out of the frying pan and into the fire IMO. There are a ton of FA options this offseason other than Ichiro and Hunter. The age thing is a concern with both of them, especially for the price. If the Sox want to go cheaper and younger, Rowand, Byrnes, Nixon, or Patterson might be available.

It shouldn't be called. The T-storms will have already passed between 5-6pm. The forecast shows cloudy and partly cloudy for game time.

More proof that Ozzie is an idiot
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) He did freeze. And freeze. And freeze. And freeze. And freeze. And then he FINALLY took off way way late, however his speed and the poor throw made up for it. From the replays, he initially froze when it went by the pitcher, then again when it went past the 2nd baseman, which would be a normal reaction on a line shot like that.

2nd Baseman Options 2008
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 14, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Right now, I wouldn't mind KW really trying to turn this team into the twins by either signing Hunter or Castillo, or even both! I wonder how much that would cost? Trade Crede for Figgins+ (bring up Fields) , don't resign Dye, Gooch, Erstad or Pods. 2008 C - Pierzynski 1B - Konerko 2B - Castillo SS - Uribe 3B - Fields RF - Sweeney CF - Hunter LF - Anderson DH - Thome Bench - Figgins, Hall, Mackowiak, Ozuna, and someone other than Cintron

Vernon Wells wants to yell at you when you're at work
KW, please trade for him. I have a feeling that you are going to see more and more of this, and then Selig will make a new rule that bans players from throwing balls and such into the stands, which will suck.

2nd Baseman Options 2008
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 14, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) It makes perfect sense to talk about Iguchi's replacement right now, because Tad is a FA at the end of this season, and we have no logical candidate to replace him next season. JD is a FA, but we at least have Ryan Sweeney waiting around for that spot next season. Are you kiddingn? You think the Braves will be stupid enough to let him walk if he keeps this up? Yeah, 2B and one 1-2 OF positions seem to be the question marks for 2008. I doubt the Sox will go with 3 young players in the outfield, and Sweeney seems to have one of those spots locked up (right now), so at least one will go to a vet (Erstad/Dye). Yeah I was kidding. I thought it was funny that he was batting better than anyone our team, but I am sure that will eventually go back to normal. (( ))
