QUOTE(lord chas @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) true but i feel that we need to take advantage of our window of opportunity and win as many championships as possible because our division will be even more competitive in the next few years It's obvious that they are more competitive this year. Things like the Yankees run I don't see happening again in the near future. Too much talent out there and owners willing to spend more to get it. Every fan should get to enjoy what we did last year.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Then why place MY quote in your post? When you do that it makes one assume you are speaking to that poster about that post. I'm just sayin'. There lies the problem... this exchange could have been avoided had you used common sense and simple comprehension skills versus assuming.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) My cousin got her great dane from a rescue, which is actually run by a good friend of the family. If you want, Steff, I can pm you her info. She does great dane and some other kind of rescue (but knows other people in the dog rescue line). Generally rescue is a great way to go because, most of the time, there's extensive background checking and matching to make sure the people that get the dogs are a good match and will be "life" companions. I'm sure there is a Beagle rescue aroudn Chicago (they seem to be a popular breed). I was actually thinking of going through a German Shephard rescue to get a dog, but another dog came up faster. Generally I consider rescues to be a better option than a shelter/pound. Edit to add Beagle rescue link: http://adopt-a-beagle.1-800-save-a-pet.com/ Soxy, thanks for that link. I've looked over a few of them and feel pretty comfortable. I have a few calls in and hope they will call back soon.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Because I already answered it in the post you were questioning. Not onyl did I answer it, but I place it in bold and italicized it. I don't quite understand why you asked a question that was already answered in the post you were questioning. Plus I couldn't make it stand out anymore for you to see. As your stance was clear, I was asking the other members of the board, hense my "do people..." rather than "do you..."

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) There are no stipulations in this question! I said nope. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 05:03 AM) I can't speak to what Steff said. I imagine security around Tiger is different at the Western than at the PGA. But I didn't see any evidence of Tiger acting like a bad guy. The PGA compared to the Western was night and day. Security at the gates was comical. Bags were checked and we were wanded at the Western. They just asked at the PGA... "got a phone on ya?" I could have smuggled in anything. The fans act much different at the PGA which could be a factor. A lot more out of towners and they did behave in general better. Maybe that's why. And I have also seen Tiger act like a total prince out there also. Jim and I have traveled to 9 majors over the past 3 years and it's been way more good than bad. The bad just stuck with me.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) Just curious, but would you like thousands of people following you around all day at work and commenting on everything you do? Nope. That's why I wouldn't have a job that required such things.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Its funny when people forget your Q&A session with KW at soxfest. Even this year he got some. I am the last person to lets s*** slide. But I am also the first to give someone a chance. I can't imagine what it must be like to be so perfect. Maybe lonely and pathetic...

QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) You said: "Hysterical.. you give Kenny a pass.. someone that sat in an office while the players played their asses off.. but you won't give the actual guys that did all the work some slack." I took "slack" as meaning criticizing less, but I'll adjust my previous post because of your objection: I was teaching you why your logic was faulty. A smart GM doesn't lose his intelligence like a player loses his physical skills. To say a presently underperforming player deserves slack because of his past accomplishments is folly. Don't quit your day job, kid.

QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) I was teaching you why your logic was faulty. A smart GM doesn't lose his intelligence like a player loses his physical skills. To say a presently underperforming player doesn't deserve criticism because of his past accomplishments is folly. If I said they didn't deserve criticism, you might have a point. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Wrong again. At least you're consistent. It beats being a prick.

QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Sources that he's hurt? Common sense...? QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOL.

QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) You're happy with the Vazquez deal and the Contreras signing Dorf? It's obviously you are happy with nothing... so why are you here?
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Players need their physical skills to perform; front office baseball men only need their intelligence. If a player doesn't have the physical skills to produce, he has little value to the present team. If a smart GM makes a bad trade amongst many good ones, he has great value to his team since he's likely to build more championship-caliber teams. So Kenny's intelligence won us the WS least year...? Alrighty.
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) So you're ok with having Contreras locked in through 2009? Hey, KW should be the GM for however long he wants to be after winning a World Series, but some of his moves since deserve to be questioned. Hysterical.. you give Kenny a pass.. someone that sat in an office while the players played their asses off.. but you won't give the actual guys that did all the work some slack.
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) It was not in place last year, you're wrong. At the end of last year they were obligated to 2 years of Contreras and Garland. Today, they are obligated to 8 years od Contreras, Garland, and Vazquez. Not too mention relinquishing a very good prospect in Chris Young to get Vazquez. Oh, don't worry...your pp is longer. I have a WS memory. The payoff was worth it.

Anyone know anyone that has ever used one? We are trying to help get two beagle pups placed and it's not going so well. They are 5 months old and we're trying to keep them together. I've never even inquired and I was just wondering if anyone here has and what kind of experience it was.. TIA.

QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) i cant believe some of you are Sox fans after all the bad mouthin ive heard this year alone. If you get a few spare hours read some of the past game threads. I have heard some horror stories about them!!!
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Look at the starters' ERA this year. Are you saying Cintron should never start at SS? Come on you're smarter than that .... Did I say that...?
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) If I'm not mistaken, the Sox have the second highest paid rotation in MLB and aside frpm Contreras' stint on the DL earlier this year, no one has mussed a start. Nice return on investment, Kenny. The investment was in place last year. The return was well worth the expense.
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) The other bars and restaurants you're referring to don't operate under false allegiance by targeting the White Sox organization and fans, which is exactly what Jimbos does. Confirm you understand the difference. I don't see what false pretense you are claiming. The guy doesn't hide the fact that he doesn't hate the Cubs. He's just another business owner trying to make a living.. and he does it 365 days a year, not just the 81 that the Sox are in town. And, like I said above, If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to support it. There are plenty of others who can and do set aside the pettyness.
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) You're wrong. What's hurting the team is the high-priced starting rotation. I know this is tonight specific... But Cintron and Mac pitch now...?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) I only hear him about once every two weeks, but every single potentially negative question is turned into a "matter of confidence for the player, and that's the only way he's going to overcome it and produce the rest of the season". When Ozzie plays Mackowiak in Game 160 vs the Twins, I wonder if he'll still say the same reason. Greg Walker and PFB have restraining orders against you. I honestly don't know how you guys can listen. Well.. I know 71 does it to try to get on and make him look like an ass.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) Now according to PFB, the sox team is just a playoff team. They play crappy in the regular season, and just switch flip they will become world beaters. Someone call and ask him to pass the pipe.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Steff Brian Dolgin was a homer, but this guy takes the cake. Dolgin at least wasn't afraid to say when s*** stunk rather than spraying it with Fabreeze. I have listened to CR once for maybe 3 minutes. He was making excuses for Brian's struggles at the plate early in the year and said that Aaron was worse. Now I know Aaron was not Ted Williams at the plate.. but he was not worse than Brian was the first month of the season. I knew right then he was going to be replacing knee pads every other night....

Congrats on the job. Mrs LMB also start hers? It's been s***ty here all week. Though it's supposed to be nice tomorrow. I hate the end of summer.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Someone calls ups and says that Pods lost some steps. PFB says no, its not that its that he doesnt get on base. PFB do you even watch the games. I do believe he has a script to read from. He just repeats the same crapola after every game regardless of the outcome. He's a Craftsman product of the finest quality.
