QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) This is really really sad. The good news - if that's even possible - is that it may not be as bad as previously thought. Instead of seven bombings, its down to four. The current toll is 10 dead and 190 injured. Here's to hoping the numbers don't climb much further. I think that this could have been a LOT worse. Prayers with those who need it right now. 40 dead, 300 injured. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8492258/ LONDON - At least 40 people were killed in the explosions that ripped through three London subway trains and a bus on Thursday, according to a U.S. law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because British officials have yet to make public the death toll. The near simultaneous explosions caused at least 300 injuries in what Prime Minister Tony Blair said was a "barbaric" terrorist attack.

I think if they fire her because she wants the code enforced for everyone they will end up with a bigger mess. That would definitely be a lawsuit I would think.
-
It's in writing.. thing is.. barely anyone follows it. And then there are ther idiot managers who don't bother to enforce it. Some area's it's bad. The customer service girls dress like hookers - seriously.. capri's with 2 inch heels, and shirts cut waaaay low in the front. They don't work for me and I don't deal with them so I don't care.. but some of these gals have no business dressing like that but no one tells them it's not appropriate. I keep hearing her talking about it... I think she's going to make some waves.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) I thought the capri battle was won two years ago and only really fat people (guys or gals) can't wear them!? LOL.. na. It was never really resolved. I wear them when I'm not supposed to, so I'm guilty. I would never reprimand another employee though.. too many rules surrounding the dress code are broken on a daily basis. My motto is if it looks professional it's fine. Companies much larger and more hands on with their customers allow them. I don't see the big deal.
-
A little rant.. For whatever reason at work here capri pants are not allowed. :rolly Yesterday someone wore them and this morning she got advised not to do so any more from her boss. She told me about it. So I take a stroll around the building when I had to pick some stuff up from the print room and I saw 22 dress code violations. This girl, good worker, rarely ever hear a peep from her (thought I don't really work with her) would not surprise me at all if she tried to take some sort of legal action. Personally I think the dress code is stupid, but if you're gonna have one you have to enforce it for everyone. I can't say I blame her if she does something. I think it's unfair for anyone to be singled out.

According to police in Windsor, Ontario, Daniel Kolta, 27, and Randy Taylor, 33, died in a head-on collision, thus earning a tie in the game of chicken they were playing with their Snowmobiles. In Detroit, a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to retrieve his car keys. A 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who "totally zoned when he ran," accidentally jogged off a 100-foot-high cliff on his daily run. Buxton, NC: A man died on a beach when an 8-foot-deep hole he had dug into the sand caved in as he sat inside it. Beach-goers said Daniel Jones, 21, dug the hole for fun, or protection from the wind, and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom Thursday afternoon when it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach, on the outer banks, used their hands and shovels, trying to claw their way to Jones, a resident of Woodbridge, VA, but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him while about 200 people looked on. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital. (nice tan) Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed in Lompoc, CA, as he fell face-first through the ceiling of bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth (to keep his hands free) rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor. According to police in Dahlonega, GA, ROTC cadet Nick Berrena, 20, was stabbed to death in January by fellow cadet Jeffrey Hoffman, 23, who was trying to prove that a knife could not penetrate the flak vest Berrena was wearing. Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed in Selbyville, Delaware, as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger. HONORABLE MENTION: In Guthrie, Okla, in October, Jason Heck tried to kill a millipede with a shot from his 22 caliber rifle, but the bullet ricocheted off a rock near the hole and hit pal Antonio Martinez in the head, fracturing his skull. In Elyria, Ohio, in October, Martyn Eskins, attempting to clean out cobwebs in his basement, declined to use a broom in favor of a propane torch and caused a fire that burned the first and second floors of his house. Paul Stiller, 47, was hospitalized in Andover Township, NJ, and his wife Bonnie was also injured, when a quarter-stick of dynamite blew up in their car While driving around at 2 AM, the bored couple lit the dynamite and tried to toss it out the window to see what would happen, but apparently failed to notice the window was closed RUNNER UP: TACOMA, WA Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 am. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable lay nearby. One end of the cable was secured around Bingham's leg and the other end was tied to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy river water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. "All I can say "said Bingham, "is that God was watching out for me on that night." "There's just no other explanation for it." Bingham's foot was never located. AND THE WINNER: Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt (Paderborn, Germany) fed his constipated elephant Stefan 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally let it fly, and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop! Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on him. "The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground, where he struck his head on a rock and lay unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of him" said flabbergasted Paderborn police detective Erik Dern. With no one there to help him, he lay under all that dung for at least an hour before a watchman came along, and during that time he suffocated. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that "s*** happens."

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) That's ok Steff, I knew there was something on it, but it's been discussed so much, it was actually pretty hard to find where he actually said it. I don't pay enough attention to the what if's so I honestly had no idea. Weird he said it last month... were there talks about it back then..? Although.. last month was only 5 days ago.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) This is what Kotex Boy said in his latest piece; And then there's this; Thanks DBAHO.

QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Oh and by the way.. in case you didnt know Clemens doesnt even go to the Astros games unless he is pitching, he doesnt go on the road with them unless he is pitching and there is even a clause in his contract that he has the right to NOT pitch if he chooses to go watch his kids play ball.. Like I said, there are more reasonable options that we can obtain Everyone knows it.. it's common knowledge. Would his demands be different if he wasn't 30 minutes from his own bed, or his kids little league game..? Food for thought..

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) There's your source. DBAHO is the source...?? No offense to DBAHO, of course. I'm sure if he said it.. it's in print somewhere - like Shilling's comments about never playing for the Sox, and Randy's comments last year about not wanting to go anywhere but the Yanks (DBAHO.. think you might have gotten the 2 mixed up..?). Clemens has yet to make a comment about leaving Houston so I'd just like to know where the idea that he doesn't want to come here came from.. I've never heard it.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) The main problem is that Clemens won't come here. He doesn't want to play on the Sox, period. Is there a source for that quote?

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Not sure what this means, but a guy on the O's board just said that during the O's - Yanks game today, their announcer said that Jeter would not be playing in the All-Star game. http://www.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22303 Probably pissed he didn't get voted on initially and has said he wont play.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) And I don't think there's out of state tuition for private schools like S.L., Steff. It's just a very pricey Ivy League type school that you'll obviously pay through the nose for. A good school will help you find a way to finance it. If not they're more concerned about getting the money than the good students that will further its reputation--so forget about those. I maintain you can get as good an education at U of I as you can at Harvard--it's all about how much time/effort you put in. Yea.. I was just guessing. To me the $50K # doesn't sound that high. Not when I've seen bills for Northwestern
