QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) Funny story about water bans: I overheard a guy on the elevator this morning saying he was under a 100% ban, but he thought he'd throw it on for just a few minutes last night. He fell asleep and it was on all night. LMAO.. Poor guy. I think if they totally ban us they will use our water bills to tell if we are watering... Think they'll buy "but I was just filling up the pool..." as an excuse??

QUOTE(farmteam @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Nice looking house, Mike! But what the heck is "forced air"? I think it means there is a motor to push the hot or cold air through the vents of the house.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Probably depends if someone dobs you in, at least that's the case in Australia, where we've got water restrictions, and have damns that are only up to about 30 to 40% full. You'd think it'd be even worse out here, but you can pretty much use all of the water you want, at least that's what they've told me. My neighbors are watering also. It's funny.. either 8:30 at night or 4am you hear everyone's sprinklers going on.

QUOTE(farmteam @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Too bad that storm last night missed North, eh? You're not kidding. I was praying for the rain... it thundered a ton and I thought for sure it was going to hit us.. but no. We should have something like 3 inches of rain in the area so far and we're just over a half inch. That's bad..

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Thanks Steff and QP... Here is a link to my blog post about the place... http://boringtheworld.blogspot.com/2005/06...o-home-yet.html It just passed the inspection for the flood plain analysis today, so we are ready to go. Now comes the fun part of playing the bidding game. We have a whole strategery set up for it. It ought to be interesting. Nice Mike. Good luck with the bidding.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) They can't ban me. I have a well! I wish we could for the lawn watering water. We have a lake right behind us and Jim and my dad are sure they can come up with something to just use the lake water... which I'm sure will end with me bailing them out of jail.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) We are making a bid on a place tomorrow. Crossed for ya!!!

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) put the ducks on your lawn to work. LOL... Actually the little ones are about to hatch. The eggs were rockin and rollin this morning when we left for work. I'm gonna be up all night watching for them.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) They make you post on the MLB boards for a month... Hardy, har, har... Wait till you have a yard with grass and you'll understand.
-
Right now they have us on every other day... but I fear a total ban is coming. I'm going to have to come up with a creative way to water it..
-
What happens if I get caught watering the grass if they ban watering..?

Information Technology. Computer programmers basically.

None of the lots have booths. They have someone taking $$ at the entrance before the games. ITT and the Sox are partners in using their lots for overfull. Nothing is free over there.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) That is something I remember when I was stuck in Indiana looking in Chicago... if you want to live downtown it's crazy expensive, but you don't have to have a car. Depending on your lifestyle, you may or may not need one. Everyone I know that lives in the city has a car. And again.. just because you live in the city doesn't mean you work there. Several of our IT guys live down there. FWIU there is not a big IT market in Downtown Chicago.

QUOTE(Stephen @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Sox fan currently living in Dallas Texas. I'm looking to move to Chicago late next year or 2007. I love Chicago and i'm dying to get out of Texas. I'm an IT worker (6 years exp) and i'm trying to gauge the difficulty I'll have in getting a job up there. I check the job ad's at times, but it's hard to gauge the field through websites like monster.com. I thought i'd ask some residents to get a better gauge of the market. Chicago is alot bigger than Dallas but that doesn't neccessarily translate to a larger IT job market. Example, Houston is bigger than Dallas, but there are more IT jobs here in Dallas. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the market is up there. Also, what is the typical cost of a 1-bedroom apartment in a decent neighborhood? I have no idea on the IT job market other than the IT department at my company makes mucho dinero.. But on the apartment thing.. you should probably have some sort of idea where you want to live before you look into the costs. Chicago is a big city.. and aside from that many who work in the city don't actually live in it so the cost of an apartment could swing as much as $700 to $1,000.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) You liked Detroits airport Soxy? By the time I got out of there I was ready to blow that place up... Damn I don't know if I have a favorite... MDW was easy to get in and out of, but supposedly has gotten bad. DFW I did like, but it was freakin huge. ORD is a disaster. Midway has gotten better in the past few months I think. The parking is 100% better that's for sure. And when the new terminal opens on the west side of Cicero it's going to be even easier in terms of drop off & pick ups. I liked John Wayne a lot. Small and easy. Get off the plane, walk outside. I also like Baltimore and Orlando. I have to say Cancun sucked as bad as Detroit and Seattle. People were very unwilling to answer questions in all 3 places.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) It seemed that the jury focused in on the fact that the engineer saw the vehicle, it was clearly very close to the tracks, too close to judge if they would clear or not, had plenty of time to stop, and didn't. If you see a kid playing in the street, have time to stop, and decide not to, is it the kids fault or yours? From the sounds of things.. it's the kids fault because he's too stupid to get out of the road.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) Just once I'd like to see someone really grill Cruise on the s*** he says. He always speaks in such broad, general terms. Call someone out for the bulls*** they say... no..?

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) I thought Alabama was a tough on crime state. Apparently not towards cops.

QUOTE(GoArow33 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) Yeah definitly just got done speaking with the police. They came over and saw it, and they're giving us a free power wash. Turns out the policeman grew up a Sox fan on the southside. And the White Sox flag is flying as high as it can right now (on the top of my basketball hoop!) haha. Yeah, I'm headed to the cell pretty soon. I think this is a good omen of things to come. Good.

QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I wasn't asking anyone to GIVE me anything. There are times when someone has tickets for a game (even Sox/Cubs) that they find out later they can't use. Please forgive me for even asking. You need to relax... Green is for sarcasm around here.. and it's clearly obvious that he was kidding with his comment. And for the record, I laughed when I read your request also. This thread is filled with people who NEED tickets to this series.. to ask if someone has any avaliable is funny.
