Security prevents this now. Someone ran in front of Magglio's (IIRC) car last year and he almost hit them. They used to be very cool about signing there so that's a shame that someone ruined it.

Speaking of BP.. on Friday Comcast will broadcast BP from Wrigley. No broadcasters.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) I'm thinking 5 or 6 years ago. Did they used to open the gates eariler than an hour and a half before the game started also?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) I don't know if it was everyone, but most of them, and in true Chicago media form it was all blamed on Frank. Of course.. :rolly BTW, how long ago was this..?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) School is out and weather has been decent. I don't see Flub fans complaining. Wear a jacket. That's why they were invented. I just hope that the stadium is this empty when there are playoff tickets. Don't worry.. all of us season ticket holders will buy them up so you don't get one.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) The gates open an hour and a half before the game. The visiting team always takes batting practice last. If you get there when the gates open you will only see the visiting team hit in just about every park in MLB. Several years ago the White Sox actually switched and hit last so the early arriving fans would see them take BP instead of the visiting team. That was ended because the players didn't like the change in routine. It was reported that it was ended because Frank Thomas didn't like it. From what you're saying they all didn't like the change..

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Willie Harris Everything is Willie's fault..

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) I seem to remember there was a time you could watch both teams take BP. I've always thought it was kinda lame and don't really understand why it's set up that way. I'd rather not name the player since if it is a rumor, I'd only be prepetuating it. I remember sometimes catching the end of it.. but maybe 10 minutes or so. I think it's more because the Sox open the gates so late. Some parks open 2 hours before the game.. I never really went in so early unless it was to eat in the club. Completely understand not wanting to name anyone.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Yep, unlike other teams, the Sox don't let you in to watch the Sox take bp. How long has this been the policy?....I heard a rumor, that it's at the request of a certain player, can anyone confirm this? It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I've never heard of a player being to blame but this isn't something I've ever questioned. Who did you hear was to blame..?

After Texas BP while the Sox are doing sprints they usually come over to sign for those standing at the bottom of sections 142, 143, and 144. If you get there early enough go take a seat over there. Aaron and Pods have been signing every game and Paul usually after he stretches. Joe and Juan have been over there more lately also. Have fun..

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) If it was a joke, shoulda put it in green. Point taken. Common sense escapes you in a comment from me... interesting.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) I'll get plenty of interviews, don't worry about me. Already got one lined up with Baj and I'll get B-Mac and Anderson as well. By the way, saying stuff like that doesn't help to get me to stop posting the truth. Sometimes it hurts. Don't try to threaten me getting no interviews in an effort to DEFEND your boy. If Neal Cotts can't take a little ripping on a message board, he's got a tough road ahead. It was a joke. Defend MY boy...? Give me a f***ing break. Show me where I've made ONE SUPPORTING COMMENT of Neal's performance ON THE FIELD.. EVER??? Don't bother.. because you won't fine one. :dips***.

I'm gonna bet that Aboz doesn't get any good interviews while visiting the minors this year..

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Is there an echo in here? LOL.. I just read your reply. Deja vu..

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) It doesn't take a baseball expert to see what's what. That ain't no playoff team. Nowhere near it. With the way our offense looks.. neither are we.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Yes, but is their offense going to remain this good. Are there any 15 game winners on that staff? The Yankees have won like 6 straight now also, and you know Boston is going to pick it up when they get Schilling, Wells and Miller back into their rotation. I think their offense staying hot is a better probability than our pitching staying hot. Bedard and Sidney can win 15 I think. I agree Boston and the Yanks will not stay down all year. All a matter of luck. Regardless.. nothing to worry about at this point.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) My ass. I don't care how good Baltimore's record is right now. That ain't no f***ing playoff team. And even if they do somehow manage to sneak into the playoffs, they have no shot at winning a series. Come on, man. I don't think they'll have to sneak... the front door is working just fine for them right now.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 14, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) How did you get to know so many athletes? I knew you knew a lot of people involved with the sox but 11 other teams? Whats your secret Many are from our MLBPA contact. Jim and I are contributors to several charities involved and Jim plays in the MLBPA golf outing every year in Lake Geneva as well with several retired guys over the summer. Most of the others are from players traded from the Sox that we keep in touch with. No real secret.. treating them like normal people seems to be a good start though. They love to hear that they are looked up to, of course. But at the same time they love to talk about their other interests as well.

LMAO.. Sean Connery. So fitting.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Not by me. I may disagree with you from time to time but always appreciate hearing news from someone like you who actually has access and inside knowledge. Yoss.. I don't think you and I have ever had a cross conversation. It's just a select few that for some reason think I think my s*** don't stink because I know people who play professional sports.. :rolly OOOoooooo... big friggin whip. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us.
