  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Yeah - her, Rene Zellweger (sp?) and Robin Wright-Penn as well. RWP was the foster mom.. right? If it's the moving I'm thinking of, I liked it. A bit hard to follow.. but kept me interested because of the twists and turns. I didn't read the book so I can't compare. LOL.. I was no help.
  2. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) The insanity defense works better for the gen pop because, correct me if I am wrong, there is a pretty elaborate screening process that checks for this sort of stuff in the armed forces right Nuke? According to my uncle there is.. he's Air Force though, but I imagine it's pretty standard for all branches.
  3. Is that the movie with Michelle Pfeiffer? (sp?)

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) I figured you were implying that, but I just found it funny that you were misusing the word... touche -- used to acknowledge a hit in fencing or the success or appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point "success or appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point"... the point being that you may or may not also sometimes be considered annoying. Not misused at all.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Touche... OK.. to clear this up.. I used the word touche in response to you saying BatGirl was annoying inferring that you might also be considered annoying. It was in jest and meant to be a joke, and not in any way, shape, or form agreeing with you that she was/is annoying - because I think she's a bit funny. I've never used "touche" as an agreeing term... is that how you are using it..?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) Cousins, brothers and sisters for that matter, have every right to marry if the definition of marriage is altered from "man and woman". It's simple logic. But brothers and sisters marrying would be incest.. that's a whole nother (
  7. http://sun.science.wayne.edu/~bio340/Stude.../Restum/pos.htm Positives of Ritalin The positive side effects of Ritalin, when given as a single once-a-day dose (the proper dose prescribe by your Doctor), helps children to fall asleep normally at night and wake up bright and cheery in the morning, is effective in about 70% of children, is not addicting, does not cause tics, does not stunt growth, causes no let-down or crash, and even stops bedwetting if present in about nine out of ten children treated. Of course, I believe that desipramine should not be started in any individual before a pretreatment electrocardiograph study is completed. A positive side effect example would be, A study (Arnold and Kirilcuk Corson, 1993) was done dealing with a 6-week trial of Ritalin. The study focused on the performance and behavior or children ages 8-15 with learning disabilities. There were two groups. The first group was comprised of 20 children who were given Ritalin and the second group was comprised of 20 children given placebos. Researchers conducting this study used the Peterson and Quay Scale (children behavior dealing with conduct and personality), and the Werry Weis Peters activity Scale (behaviorism's during school, home, and playing with friends),Wesher Intelligence Scale (children's motor skills), and Bender Gestalt Test for Young Children. The results were; the children who were administered the Ritalin improved in motor performance. They were less distractible and more attentive. Parents and Teachers rated the children who were taking Ritalin and noticed about an 88% improvement. Negatives There are many side effects that are very dangerous to children who are taking the drug. The risks involved are questionable depending on the dosage and child involved who is taking the medication. Still, studies have been done and research concluding each risk is definitely a possibility. Children who take Ritalin can expect to have at least one of the following symptoms: nervousness, insomnia, tired and grogginess when dose is excessive, weight loss, anorexia or decreased appetite, severe depression, irritability, headaches, abdominal pain, negative mood changes, dizziness, less sociable attitudes, nightmares, decrease of blood flow to the brain, disruption of growth hormone leading to suppression of growth in the body and brain of a child, permanent neurological tics including Tourette's syndrome, addiction and abuse including withdrawal reactions on a daily basis, possible shrinkage or other permanent physical abnormalities in the brain, worsening of the very symptoms the drug is supposed to improve, tremor, palpitation, hypertension, and some risk of liver problems. Pretty significant differences in the side effects.
  8. You know what.. I understand people are angry about this.. but what I don't understand is, just because some are mad, they feel they have to: Attack her fiance Attack her family Attack HIS family Attack the # of showers Attack the # of attendants Attack the # of guests Attack the bridal registry Attack her looks Attack Johns looks Attack the preacher Attack the policeman who tried to comfort her Not pointing any fingers.. and it's happening more on another board I visit versus here.. but it's just something that was irking me and I wanted to post it.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) They can only get her on a small charge of reporting a crime that didn't happen. Apparently they can sue her for the police costs though. It is a shame that she gets off so lightly though. Apparently both their families came up with the 100K already...
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) I thought Aderol and Ritilin just help you stay really focused, that's why College kids abuse them. I've heard them say that while on it, they study for hours and hours and retain a lot more info. not that they give you a ton of energy. I think we're talking about more speedy drugs for ball players. I still don't see how either one would help a baseball player. Ritilin effects people so differently. When it first came out 15+ years ago and was being passed out like candy both my brother and cousin were on it.. made my cousin coma like and sped my brother up.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) I guess I am different. I walk 10 city blocks each way going to and from work each morning. I'd walk it in a heartbeat. Besides I'd do just about anything not to pay these damned cab drivers in this city. LOL.. cheap-o. I would walk if I was down there everyday. Vacationing somewhere I am not familiar with, I would cab it. On vacation I wouldn't walk more than a few blocks. It's so easy to get confused down there not being from here I think.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) I believe it is legal in Illinois IF you either can't or are too old to have children. And to that I say...EEEEEWWWWWWW!!!! :puke You're right.. it's allowed if you are > 50 years old. Weird..
  13. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) To say that people who use Aderol makes them appear dumb is kinda ignorant. I'm not saying you are ignorant person, but when it comes to this you might be. I have not used nor ever plan to use Aderol but I know plenty of people who do, have, and presecribe it. I completely understand why baseball players would use it. imagine playing 162 games in something like 180 days. THat is a grueling lifestyle when you factor in the travel too. Aderol or other amphetamines would give the players the lift, the energy, to get through the game. When their livelihood is based on their performance in a grueling sport one would take that in order to succeed. I know some on Aderol.. it does make them kind of spacy. I think that's what he meant. I also know some on Ritilin (another MLB fav... ) and it makes them act like a 5 year old who ate waaaay too much cotton candy, while others it makes them droopy.
  14. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) I won't even dignify the comments of one of the above posts but as for the last one, I don't think many jobs do drug test after hiring. You don't think so...?? I know for a fact the following ARE tested... anyone who drives anything, teaches anything, anyone in the medical profession, government jobs, most financial jobs, many manufacturing and engineering jobs, and I'm sure Mike can confirm but I believe that those who have anything to do with stock trading and investing do (although that might be covered under financial). A lot more do than don't.
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to bust on Wil Cordero. Are you positive that he didn't get a few upper-cuts and roundhouse punches in after he launched the telephone at her? A lot was made of his wife-beating adventures at the time, although I can't recall all of the specifics. Either way, the guy is a complete lowlife. No one knows for sure but her.. just going from what she said in a police statement. He is a low life.. definitely.

When Jim and I went to get out marriage license.. we were a bit taken aback that it's allowed in most states (to marry past the first). Says so right on the application..
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Gives a whole new meaning to, "Honey, it's for you". LMAO.
  18. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) Oh okay, I guess that makes it alright then. I said that makes it ok...?? Can you quote that for me.. I can't seem to find it.
  19. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) I'd send Wil Cordero, wife-beater extraordinare. For one to be a successful fighter, one must have experience. We all know that Wil has plenty of that. Eh.. eh threw a phone at her.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Carlton Fisk would be my first choice. Without a doubt. He would put a lot of current young players to shame in his current old condition.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) Right by Ditka's restaurant, IIRC... C'mon Steff 8 blocks is not within walking distance? In the most beautiful city in the country, on a nice summer day?? Yea.. it's real summerlike out there today.
  22. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) this is different from when???? Darn.. no witty "c***" acronym... :rolly
  23. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I just loved seeing the photos of the fiance totally happy that she was found -- did it ever sink in to him that she lied about being kidnapped to avoid marrying his ass? Perhaps he was just happy she was safe and alive and will sort out the personal stuff in private.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) ESPN Zone is on Ohio Street (or Ontario, I forget which is which) around the old rock-n-roll McDonalds, Rain Forest Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe etc. McDonalds, RFCafe, and Hard Rock are several (8 maybe..?) blocks west of the Zone. Not walking distance, IMO. The Zone is literally right at Ohio and Michigan Ave right around the corner from Virgin.
