  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) I have to LOL at the title becasue I was sitting in parking lot of the Cell last night after the game and some guy was walking back to his car with a sign GIT'R'DONE...... We have a lesbian at bowling that says this allllll the time in a surley deep growling voice.. she's a weird-o.
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) steff I will be above you looking down! If you want to come up to the club section let me know. I also have the stadium club for a drink when its raining We already decided on the club. I think my "son-in-law" and his wife are coming with us.. Give me a buzz when you're going in there and we'll meet ya.
  3. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) I remember. I think she was drunk of her behind and rather incoherent. No.. that was the "other female fan"... mumbling something about Reed and the minor leagues, bla, bla, bla..
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) This is like your boss, going to the paper and telling you to show up to work on Friday with a new attitude. Its pathetic. Ozzie needs to take care of this stuff in house. Give Frank a call and tell him whats up. If a question comes up asking about Frank and his role with the club...Ozzie should simply respond with I gave Frank a call and we talked about it. Its a move we will deal with when he's 100%, until then, I wish Frank nothing but the best in a speedy recovery but Everett is our DH. I tried to use this one once before.. flew over like a led balloon.. but I agree with it.
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) If your boss ( or mine ) had a gaggle of reporters asking him questions every single day, I'd be willing to bet that at some point he'd say something stupid that would end up in print. Granted, Oz doesn't need that much prodding to start yapping, but let's not forget that they have people following them around every day looking for a quote. Oz was adamant in "reminding" the reporters that he also mentioned several other players and only the Frank reference was blown up. Why is that? Could it be that the Frank quote could turn into the bigger story, because of Frank's history here? Again, I'm very glad that it appears to not be a huge deal in the Sox clubhouse, and that is the ONLY thing that matters to me. No matter how many reporters are following him.. the "boss" needs to have control of his mouth.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Ozzie shouldn't be canned. Sorry Steff, that's completely ludicrous. Can't wait to hear the tune you're singing when he rips Mark a new rear end.. :rolly
  7. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) woah now steff lets not get ahead of ourselves here...first off ur a very solid poster and i usually agree with most of ur posts but not here however..i feel ur right ozzie needs 2 STFU and quit acting so self centered but 2 then turn the tables on him claiming u want his a$$ canned is another story in its self..the players love this guy and i can almost bet u anything ozzie is the type of manager who wants it more than any1 else out on that baseball field and ur willing to give him the boot?? hes got the kids playin hard right now and seems to have a clue unlike the managers in the last 10 years or so..... It's just my opinion.. but if this stuff keeps happening and it continues to be a distraction.. here we were about to play our division rival for first place and what was the sports world talking about... :rolly Then yes.. I want a manager who can't speak properly to STFU or be gone. I hope he's learned from this.. I honestly believe he didn't mean any malice with his words.. but IMO he caused a bunch of crap he didn't need to. He's got to think before he speaks to the media...
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) I'm as old as you are, and I remember my dad HATED Harry even when he was with the Sox, and I think I just picked that up from him as well. I always thought it was a good thing, especially as he turned into a drunken old fool behind the mike. My dad, grandfather, and great grandfather all hated him. Probably why I didn't pay much attention to him. IMO he was a nasty drunk and an embarassment to the Cubs in the booth nearing the end of his career. he could barely get a word out without slurring.. nice alcoholic representation there. No wonder that place turned into what it has.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) I started reading the huge thread on this Ozzie/Frank thing that was started when this first broke, and everyone was ripping on Ozzie. After 3 pages, I just killed it. I knew it would end up like this. There's a language barrier, then tyhe media adds it's own twist to things and then it ends up being a lot of crap about nothing. It's happened before, and it'll happen again. Par for the course.. however I'm glad that Ozzie realized his comments were taken in the negative way they were and he fixed the mess.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Steff, they might actually be sold out by tomorrow? I was hoping I could come a couple hours early and grab some good UD seats... Why you want to sit up there...??? No, I don't think they will sell out. I just figured you guys would want to sit in the lowers.
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) But Frank just clogs the basepaths. LMAO.. one of Harold Reynold's finest moments..
  12. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) don't know and yes, probably. he said we're gonna leave here around 2:30, so we'd be getting up there around 5. We can talk tonight if you wanna set something up You guys might want to call and get them today... Let me know where you're at. Jim and I will be there also.
  13. OMFG... Hysterical Jim... friggin hysterical!!!!
  14. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) For many(mostly the older fans) it was definitely part of the equation, that he went over to the scrubs and turned the place into the beer garden it is now stings a little more. Let me ask you this, if a new owner came in now and summararily fired Hawk would it bother you? I am so not the person to ask this... Honestly put... I don't care who calls the game. I would listen to Chip if it meant seeing the Sox win..
  15. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I stopped going after they threw that world series...that was it for me. That hurt way more than HC in my opinion.. but I do hear a lot of people blaming his firing for lack of fans.. I was just curious.
  16. To those around 30.. was losing HC that big of a deal to you guys..?? I ask this because if it wasn't.. then do you think it's appropriate to still blame that on lack of attention? Most season ticket holders I know are in the 28 to 40 range... Me personally, I don't care that he was fired.
  17. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) How true but some of us sure like to act like we're in the loop. Whats clear to me from reading the arguments in this thread is that the more we "communicate", the less we listen. Getting in the last word seems to be the most important issue . Touche..
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) Anyone have an over/under of how long it takes him to end up back in a White Sox booth, and who he will replace? -Rooney was supposedly interested in a St Louis job a few years ago, but wasn't allowed to interview. -Hawk is no spring chicken anymore. -DJ could be replaced anytime and it would suprise no one. I know nothing..
  19. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) you just miss Dave. I do. He's doing well despite TB's dismal start.. hoping to continue giving NY the butt whippin that Baltimore started.
  20. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) He reminds meof the pitcher in Bull durham that says he wants to throw a fastball because he wants to announce his presence. This is just dumb. KW needs to step in privately and talk to these guys. Nuke LaLoosh (I know that's wrong... brain cramp)... he was a few shy of a full deck.
  21. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) This sounded funny after reading the whole Frank-Ozzie argument. Anyone here for any length of time will remember the "female fan" who tore Kenny a new rear for running his mouth about personal player s*** at Sox Fest 2 years ago.. That is my only off the field pet peeve.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) If you want to run a professional, first-class operation, then your people from the top down to the bottom have to act it. Whether or not this is just some sort of inside joke, or motivational tool, or just popping off, it doesn't look good to players around baseball. What if next off-season the White Sox want to sign a free agent but he doesn't want to come here for fear of being blasted in the press for no reason at all. Keep this sort of stuff in-house. Ozzie being Ozzie may be cute for a while then it just gets silly. Can't argue one bit with those words.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) That is not what his first comment was Steff. His first comment was that he just made the comments in the paper. Then he states that it is assumption his foot. I think by going to the press with it he is just making an even bigger statement. He is saying it even louder. This is his team. He doesn't want selfish attitudes, not even from one of the greatest White Sox players in the history of the game. As far as I can see he didn't let out anything private. He told it the way it is and the type of attitude he wants from his team. I'm all confused... as I have no idea what you said here... Going to eat lunch.. maybe I'll be at full brain power when I get back..
  24. All this assuming is making me hungry... Lunch time..
